it suddenly fell from 8th place to 12th place in daily sales rankings

so it was obvious that stores were running out of copies

so happy for DGL, hope this means Shueisha won't let him go

Even if they do Kimetsu in a split season/cour format, I won't complain in the slightest, it's a small tradeoff for having the best studio out there adapting the manga.
I don't think a split cour even makes much sense for a first season anyway. It won't have as much impact a 2 cour so it's a big tradeoff. This first season needs to be on point. There's not a lot of room to "mess up" on if we want KnY to get big and also having a great adaptation.

Selling 1/4th of its print run is great especially if the chart doesnt account for every sale. Go shuudan go.

Come on, a split cour wouldn't be that bad, a 3 month break and then they'd continue off from where it was previously. Having Bones would make me rest at ease. Anyway, we'll either get a great adaptation or we'll be unfortunate to get the Pierrot treatement, I hope that doesn't happen, it sucks how these kinds of things are completely random sometimes.

Bones line up right now is full Heroaca s3, MP100 s2, Original Series, Eureka Movies
and more so if you want Bones to adopt it you need to wait at least late 2019.

When was the last time any shonen jump adaptation got split cour, it seems highly unlikely to think any of the next shonen jump weekly titles would be it. I also doubt BONES would actually get a second weekly jump title considering theyre currently in on HeroAca. Actually I dont even know why people want BONES over the 40+ other anime studios.

Since staff of anime are so fluid and changing, a studio can still deliver a bad product (just compare madhouse's Mahou Sensou to say HxH 2011 or Ace of Diamond). BONES could always give Yaiba the #SB69 treatment (awesome anime).

Yup, no MP100 s2. So far we're only getting an OVA with Reigen.

Nope, Mob Psycho extra anime was confirmed to be an OVA for Reigen, not a second season. Their original series Aico incarnation has finished production a while ago, Netflix are only releasing it next year because they want to dub it into multiple languages. Shinichiro Watanabe said he's doing a music series at Bones, but we don't know if it's original or an adaptation.

Bones are arguably the best studio in the business right now. They always deliver high quality anime series. Their recent work on battle shounens has been stunning. Boku no Hero academia both seasons, Mob Psycho, Kekkai Sensen and Noragami (and even Bungo Stray Dogs, but that's a battle seinen) show how capable they are at adapting battle shounen stuff. Bones are more predictable from other studios because they have staff members that are always there and they have 5 sub studios, A,B,C,D,E (not exacly sure if that's the exact names for each sub section). Bones also have some of the best animators in the industry as their employees and they're also willing to hire freelancing talent when they want to.

Kind of pointless to bring up Madhouse's Hunter x Hunter, that started in 2011, after that the staff that worked on it left to form studio VOLN which later worked with MAPPA on Ushio to Tora. Mahou Sensou is an adaptation of a trashy LN, Madhouse were stuck in phase were they were pretty much a LN adaptation studio, after they went bankrupt and were bought out. Things are better for them, but the majority of their talent left to form MAPPA, VOLN and NUT or left in other places. Ace of Diamond was a collaboration with Production I.G and Production I.G are arguably the best studio when it comes to adapting sport manga.

#SB69 was never meant to be anything special in the first place, so Bones didn't put in as much talent and as many resources into that, makes sense, it was just made for quick promotion of the game and whatever else it was based off of.

You're naive to think Bones wouldn't want more adaptations from the biggest manga magazine in Japan right now, it gives them a lot of promition and it grows their recognition in Japan even further and it gives them better opportunities in the future, they become very solicited by other big magazines as well. I pointed out in a large post yesterday that Bones only firt got their first big Battle shounen manga adaptation from one of the Big 3 publishers in 2014, when they did Noragami. FMA, Soul Eater and Zetsuen no Tempest were all from Square Enix's smaller magazine.

Edit: Also, Bones are incredibly versitile, they can do any unique character design style.

Never said it's bad, just not as good as getting a 2 cour. I won't say Bones is the best studio for KnY, not to say it's the worst. David Pro will actually be the best studio since their directing is some of the best I've seen and I was pleased with JoJo/Level E adaptation. The problem is that they're busy with part 5 and I would like them to focus on part 5 since that's gonna be tough.

Better than that, they're all in the top 140
The sales are still pretty abysmal though.

I was wondering why you were so attached to DavidPro. They'll probably be busy with Jojo from here on out. They broke away from doing Jojo for a year and their output was less than impressive. Sakurada Reset was garbage and looked horrible and Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On was also terrible. Planeterian was another short project they did, it was good. They should seriously just stick to Jojo, since it's what put them on the radar and they're really good at adapting it, plus it's very successful. Level E was a collaboration with Pierrot, haven't seen it yet. I personally think Bones are the best option based off of their recent output regarding action battle shounen stuff and because they're able to adapt any character design style, if you look at all their history, they always have crazy unique designs from one project to another.

Volume 13 missed 50, at 55.(weekly). Overall all 13 volumes total sold between 95k-105k in the week.
Also, on 5th Nov (daily rank) most are inside or near 100.

It has to reach at least that much otherwise its chances of getting cancelled rise that much higher. If even after an anime, granted a little less than 1 cour as of this next volume release, that airs during the daytime is unable to make its sales grow, then, to put it harshly, it'll have become a huge waste in investment. The next volume releases on a Monday so it gets a full 7 days of sales. It should at least hit 150k though the ideal would be 180k-200k. That is a little higher than World trigger level.

Its really interesting to see how Jump has changed in these past 5-6 years. Right now even Mx0 could have gotten an anime. Its TOC rankings aside, its sales at the time it was cancelled are just a little lower than BC at the same time, around Yuragi level.

We keep talking about Kimetsu's anime, but right now, the question is whether they can get the character design down. WIT Studio with Hozuki's team should be able to recreate the dark, gritty with a tingle of comedy atmosphere. Otherwise, they should try a team akin to Mononoke's anime though that's again your despised Toei. At the least, a character designer like Hashimoto Takashi who was also animation director on Mononoke should be on board. Bones keeps coming up but you're going to have a long wait as they're fully packed all though next year and honestly, while they're versatile, I personally don't think the atmosphere of their works fits. Noragami would be the closest to Kimetsu and even then the feel of the series is still different though not to say they will be unable to pull it off.

Pointless to bring up Mononoke now, I agree that something similalr to its aesthetic would be fantastic, amazing even, but that was freaking 10 years ago, a lot of things have changed since then. I did say, that the most important thing for me when it comes to the adaptation is that whoever adapts it respects the artstyle and understands how to implement the cuteness and comedy properly, it'll be hard.

The thing about Bones is, they can do pretty much any style if they want to, it's honestly shocking how good they are at approaching any kind of character designs and any aesthetic in general. Even if they have nothing similar in tone to Kimetsu at the moment, they can easily pull off Kimetsu, their shows have vastly different atmospheres from one to another.

You say WIT, I do agree they are a good pick, but they're as busy as Bones, or even busier. They didn't even do season 2 of Hozuki because of how busy they are, next year they have the second cour for Magus's Bride, Love is like after the Rain in Winter, 2 Donten ni Warau movies, Season 2 of AOT which is likely 2 cours long, an OVA or 2 for AOT, and potentially another season or a movie sequel for Kabaneri.

Bones have Bnha 3, which is likely also 2 cours, they have 1 show from Shinichiro Watanabe, which could be an original or an adpataion, we know it's a music project. Their original Aico incarnation finished production this year, I said Netflix are only releasing it next year because they want to dub it into multiple languages. They have a Bungo Stray Dogs movie and an Eureka Seven movie. I'm kind of hoping Bones end up adapting Kodansha's Fire Force though, that would be a blessing, an anime is coming soon for that I think , based off the fact that Kodansha recently made a Twitter account for the series and they're heavily promiting it, I talked in more detail about this in the Weekly Magazine topic. SInce 2014, Bones have done between 4-10 cours of anime in a year, WIT have a much smaller output.

The anime would only come in 2019 anyway, so they're 2018 stuff will already be over with.
