Dope color page, but I wish Tabata would drop the bell shaped robes. They look dumb and the characters lose out on their individual costume styles

Huh, so Akihito's stepping down? If I remember right, it wasn't that long ago the Dutch's queen stepped down. Poor Charles....

On topic though, no I don't think so given that Christmas is also a Japanese holiday. So we'll still see a break next week. Although at this time of the year, we can get an early leak depending on the situation.

A lineup without Toriko is no lineup for me. :(
Speaking of Toriko, I just noticed something interesting. Both Toriko and Katekyo Hitman Reborn! seem to have almost identical run times looking at when they started and finished and both had very similar runs in the magazine in general. Both never really managed to take off to the next level and stagnated sales wise and popularity wise after a while, they were both really successful, but maybe not enough for WSJ to keep them running for over 9 years. Toriko has 43 volumes and Reborn has 42, I just thought this was interesting.

Christmas is not a Japanese holiday though. Jump 4/5 is released on Christmas Day. New Year is though. And you're right we might get early leak.

And why was he rushed? Does it ever cross your mind that the series becomes bad, loses its fan base, and forced to rush?

This isn't even bait. It's one thing to like a series that you don't want it to get cancel, then not seeing its flaws and blame it on other factors. Legit every time Toriko is mention on this thread it's always about how it was unjustly cancel because of other factors.

Also, there aren't that many female characters for its female fanbase to related to. Rin is a minor character. So it can't attract that many readers from different genders.
Agreed. Then also take into the fact that it's volume sales constantly dipped despite the anime. The anime movie didn't do well (below average at best), anime got decent ratings but sales for dvds were abysmal. The whole media franchise around toriko was falling as well. So as a franchise it just didn't make sense anymore.

It's just sad because I genuinely started enjoying it from just before the time skip.

I think Toriko was behind in the times. If it started 5-7 years earlier I think it would have been a big hit. The style was very 90s. There's also the fact that readers like 1v1 fights between people, not a guy fighting a monster.

Toriko should have focused more on the adventuring and battle against human antagonist group than one upping itself on the outdated (visible) power level scheme. It shouldnt be a surprise that its decline corresponded to all reason being thrown out the window with power level similar to the demise of dragonball when the same hapoened.

The better jump series have human v humans and some aspect of adventure...see BLack Clover (they only fight a random boar) or world trigger (the allure of the neighborhood) or Dr. Stone (the mystery of the world at large) or TPN (the great unknown, though the manga is dull whenever the junktier lower demons are involved instead of the humanoid midbosses). None of these have power level.

I remember Toriko's rankings dropped during the cooking festival, aka the arc that got rid of the adventure aspect to focus entirely on the power levels and fights and while it went back afterwards it was already too late.

Just goes to show, a big climactic final battle-type arc doesn't work for everyone.

Toriko was also vain. It reminds me of the flaws of one piece and hxh. Everyones out for their own impure motives. One Piece luffy only wants to get a one piece and be a king of people who steal and rob from others, gon wants to have fun for personal gain. Killua is stuck in one sided unrequited love for Gon (i crey everytime). Kurapika is out for revenge.

Meanwhile Chika and Osamu want to save the ones who were taken from them, Naruto wanted to be a hokage to change the ninja world for the better, Yuno and Asta wanted to be wizard king to protect and inspire those who are looked down upon and not elites, emma norman and ray wants to save the kids giving them new life. All are inspirational stories of deep heartfelt sentiment.

Meanwhile Toriko just wants to taste the best food. Terrible. There was steep poverty and income inequality and slavery in the series which were handled rushed and jokingly so it was a turn off especially since the god food would be a bandaid. Toriko never cared.

This seems to be the case for most series though. The second they have a massive large-scale war-type fight, the series just loses all sense of reason and goes to crap. Personally, Toriko was at it's best just when they entered the Gourmet World and were taking down the beasts & getting Acacia's full course one by one (though it came to a halt after the 2nd ingredient...).

One Piece is one of the few series that actually made a large-scale battle it's strength. Almost every other battle series I can think of that went that route ended up worse than it was before it. They sound cool in practice, but very few authors can pull them off well. Hell, even MHA's last arc and Soma's Azami arc could be categorized as such, and we all know how they went.

What sucks about the MHA arc was that it seemed like it was supposed to be that arc. The one that was supposed to make the reader go "holy shit". Long build up with major consequences but in the end it sorta fell flat.
