It should be noted that Japan is currently experiencing heavy rainfall in large cities with floods killing people. This might be a reason why lots of series have lower sales despite a 5 day first week. We'll see if everything settles out next week but the rain is still continuing.

I'm like 98% sure it didn't get popular due to the demons considering the first 30 or so chapters had like nothing to do with them. I haven't read it but Act-Age is apparently more similar to shoujo stuff and it seems to be doing fine.

The main problem with Stealth Symphony, Best Blue, and Ziga is that they were all complete garbage, not that they were new and different. Heck Ziga was a big Godzilla throwback even down to story structure (lots of nothing then brief bit of destruction), it's as classic in style as you get.

I can't speak for Best Blue or Stealth Symphony, but in my opinion Ziga didn't succeed because it's just too depressing. In the first three chapters literally everyone Ko cares about is killed, giving him nothing but revenge as a motivation. It's also nothing new as the story is basically the same as Attack on Titan, except at least there Eren still had Mikasa and Armin after the first big attack.
