It's not really rare or "wrong" for that to happen.

Look at Gon & Killua's gap in popularity with the first poll lol. Hikaru has a even bigger gap. Both are much larger than the MHA case.

So far: HxH, WT, MHA, Medaka Box, Food wars, Naruto & Hikaru no go are series where the main lead isnt #1. I'm pretty sure with Kinnikuman, Robin Mask was like #1 in one of the polls.

Same with Haikyu!!'s first poll, Kageyama came 1st, followed by Hinata

Kinnikuman is a hilarious case because the title character never won a poll and not only did he lose to Robin Mask the former also lost to a tertiary character of all things, Ramenman, who was so popularity he got his own spin-off manga and anime. Considering this was the age before "troll voting" and the nature of the manga in general of not taking itself seriously this is quite the feat.

Yuyu Hakusho despite how many people consider Yusuke the quintessential shounen protagonist he never won a popularity poll.

In Saint Seiya Seiya was the least popular of the bronze saints. In Prince of Tennis Atobe Keigo overtook all of Eichizen's focus in the sequel. Rosario+Vampire Mizore was more popular than the rest of the girls by a wide margin. Really there's just so many to list. Perrsonally I don't see what the big issue is considering if the rest of the cast recieved notoriety from readers it just means that the mangaka is doing a great job getting his readers invested in the world and extended cast rather than have it all resolve around the MC.

it's being scanlated which makes it more accessible, just another manga that uses harems and fetishes as a hook
in only 11 chapters the mangaka has already introduced 2 female characters with bro-con fetish

lmao harem. It's a comedy. By your vision Gintama was a harem too. The main character is a complete loser, idk where you even made this association.

At best it will be an OVA. It would be even cooler if they adapted volume 0/the prequel. It's most likely a voiced PV or something similar if I had to guess.

That's kinda fucking hilarious. I don't know if it's a good idea to try and oversaturate the magazine with darker series just because Neverland, Kimetsu and Jujutsu are successful. This still sounds better than most of the lackluster rounds we had this year.

Perhaps I didn't word it properly but I was mainly considering the type of character being twice as popular as the MC. Bakugo has been an awful person to Deku for the majority of his life so seeing someone like him at the top for me is equivalent to Mizuki being more popular the Naruto.
