I don't know the exact chapter count, but shouldn't Jaguar be on this list? It ran for a pretty long time
Yeah, now that you mentioned it, it lasted longer than Reborn. That's a pretty big accomplishment. The author is the same as Sexy Commando, right? Is he doing anything new?

Someone correct me if I get something wrong. This would be the top-20 of Shonen Jump longest titles.

1. Kochikame - 2000 chapters
2. One Piece - almost 1000 chapters
3. JoJo - 753 chapters I'm only counting Parts 1-6 that have been in Jump. With Parts 7 and 8 JoJo should have over 900 chapters, hasn't it?) (If you also discard Part 6, is 595 chapters the 5 parts)
4. Gintama - 704 chapters
5. Naruto - 700 chapters
6. Bleach - 698 chapters (686 chapters + the 12 Pendulum chapters)
7. Dragon Ball - 519 chapters
8. Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar - 438 chapters
9. Rokudenashi Blues - 421 chapters
10. Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 412 chapters
11. Toriko - 397 chapters
12. HunterxHunter - 390 chapters
13. Kinnikuman - 387 chapters (it has in total 678 since is still running, but original Shonen Jump run was 387 chapters)
14. Prince of Tennis - 379 chapters (with New Prince of Tennis which is still running, it would climb to 632 chapters, but New Prince of Tennis isn't serialized in WSJ).
15. Yu-Gi-Oh - 373 chapters
16. Haikyuu - 363 chapters
17. Captain Tsubasa - 356 chapters (if you add World Youth-hen 145 chapters which were also run in Weekly Shonen Jump, then it rises up to 501 chapters. With all the Captain Tsubasa sequels, I think it beats the 700 chapters, but they aren't run in Jump)
18. Dragon Quest no Daiboken - 349 chapters
19. City Hunter - 336 chapters
20. Eyeshield21 - 333 chapters
21. Shokugeki no Soma - 315 chapters
22. Sakigake Otokojuku - 315 chapters

---
NuBe has 276 chapters. If you count the Neo sequel, it reaches 394 chapters, but Neo is in another Shueisha magazine.

I see Haikyuu ending in 8th place very easily as minimum.
That's really interesting. Would love to see something similar for Shonen Magazine.

I'm surprised of how Dragon Ball has the same number of volumes than Prince of Tennis despite having +150 chapters. I know main reason is that all its chapters were 13 pages. I see Hero Academia having less volumes than other Jump titles with similar chapters number because the big quantity of 13 pages chapters that we have had this year.

One curious thing about Jump, having in account chapter numbers is this (not counting the odd trio of Kochikame, One Piece and JoJo):

Gintama/Naruto/Bleach
Desert of 450-695 chapters (only inhabited by Dragon Ball, which is almost in the middle with its 519 chapters).
Rokudenashi Blues/Reborn/Toriko/etc

I'm sure Horikoshi could find a way to make it last all 3 years of school, are we even halfway through year 1 yet?
Yes. School year starts in April, story is currently in December, a few days before Winter break.

Really gets to show that the run of Naruto/Bleach/Gintama was the exception and not the rule, specially since One Piece can be considered their contemporary as well.

Honestly, the lower top 5 doesn't seem THAT hard to reach. There aren't that many jump series that get to run for 10 years, it seems. Like, MHA and Black Clover can both make the top 20 easily. It's top 6 that's almost impossible.

The message of that classification: Haikyuu has VERY EASY to become the 8th longest Jump title in chapters (maybe if Furudate continues in 2020s it can even beat Dragon Ball, but that is a big who knows) and the 7th longest Jump title in volumes.

In spokon field, is still 3 volumes behind Prince of Tennis, but is only 15 chapters behind in chapter number.

Why is everyone so certain that we're going to get three years of school?
Why wouldn't we, if it's still popular?

In fact, why even stop at three years? We could very easily follow Deku's adventures as a pro hero.

Not like it makes a difference but you can add SBR's first 24 chapters as they were serialized in WSJ at that time. JoJo would be at 900 or chapters with all parts counted but its a WSJ list. Even then One Piece surpassed it.

The best part of all of this is that Haikyu was able to rise up like it has in spite of not even being about a major sport in Japan. Beelzebub even had a joke in an early chapter about none of the cast knowing what volleyball is.

Furudate's comparable to Inoue in that way, honestly.

Looks like they've hosted every one since 1977 (so all but two of them). Though they haven't medaled since 1977 as well.

Ok, fun thing now. The ranking of before, but counting the non-WSJ chapters (aka franchise ranking). With a little surprise aka Captain Tsubasa has more total chapters than JoJo if I counted well. Here I'm going to do some stuff that in theory isn't ok to do aka Naruto + Boruto and Dragon Ball + Dragon Ball Super. If there is any franchise I've forgotten, tell me (I had forgotten MHA. and Souten no Ken in Hokuto no Ken, and Kenshin + Hokkaido is in the 260 cipher right now).

1. Kochikame - 2000 chapters
2. One Piece - 954 chapters
3. Captain Tsubasa - 949 chapters
4. JoJo - 936 chapters
5. Saint Seiya (+Dimension, Lost Canvas, Episode G, Saintia Sho etc etc) - (+ only Dimension: 838 chapters)
6. Naruto (+ Boruto) - 738 chapters
7. Gintama - 704 chapters
8. Bleach - 698 chapters
9. Kinnikuman - 688 chapters
10. Yu-Gi-Oh (+GX, 5Ds, Zexal and Arc V) - 667 chapters (without them, but with R is 424 chapters)
11. Prince of Tennis - 632 chapters
12. Dragon Ball (+ Super) - 570 chapters
13. City Hunter (+ Angel Heart)- 536 chapters
14. Hokuto no Ken (+ Souten no Ken) - 505 chapters
15. Pyuu to Fuku! Jaguar - 438 chapters
16. Rokudenashi Blues - 421 chapters
17. Katekyo Hitman Reborn - 412 chapters
18. Toriko - 397 chapters
19. Hell Teacher NuBe (+ Neo) - 394 chapters
20. HunterxHunter - 390 chapters
21. Haikyuu - 363 chapters
22. Dragon Quest no Daiboken - 349 chapters
23. Shokugeki no Soma (+ Etoile) - 340 chapters
24. Eyeshield21 - 333 chapters
25. My Hero Academia (+ Vigilantes) - 317 chapters
26. Sakigake Otokojuku - 315 chapters
27. Shaman King + Flowers - 315 chapters
-------

Kenshin + Hokkaido - 276 chapters
To Love Ru + Darkness - 270 chapters

??? - Play Ball + Play Ball 2 + Captain + Captain 2 - 255 chapters + whatever chapters has Captain (which can easily be another 200 chapters)

Fist of the Blue Sky is a prequel (sequel) of Fist of the North Star (22 volumes)

Food War Etoile has 41 chapters compiled in 7 volumes so far (with 8 coming soon, so i'm guessing it's at 41 < x <50) chapters by now.
