Yeah, first impression of Kamio Yui is pretty bland after the first chapter. And I didn't really enjoy the art. Might be a quick pass for that one.
I could definitely see that happening with the first few chapters being a sort of prologue, but I'd kinda like to see the story develop a little more first. The first few chapters have been very dense with exposition, so it could be nice to slow down a bit and develop the characters before really getting into things. That's just personal preference though, I could see it going either way.Why is it that I somehow have a feeling we're getting a timeskip in the next 2-3 chapters in Saiyuki? If I were in the author's position, I'd age up the characters until they were in middle school and then we'll get "Journey to the West" part come into play.
That's what I was thinking too. It really felt like these few chapters had a prologue-ish feel to it.I found myself swinging back and forth on whether or not I liked Yui Kamio a lot throughout the chapter and after having read it I'm still not really sure where I stand. I guess I'll have to see where it goes with the whole concept but I'm leaning more towards "no" at this point.
On another note, I really liked the new chapter of Saiyuki. It seems like a more story heavy manga then usually shows up in Jump, so I hope that doesn't cause readers to lose interest, but the cliffhanger was pretty cool. I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes from here.

So far, I liked the first chapter pretty well. It feels like it could be a delinquent-type series that'd normally appear in Weekly Shonen Champion. I'm definitely interested in learning more about the series. Last Saiyuuki's 2nd chapter was also pretty good, and I still find it surprising how different this story ended up being from my initial expectations from the promo art. Act-Age and David-kun had another set of great chapters. Higuma had the strongest chapter this week out of the Dark Trio, with the other 2 being just alright.

Hungry Marie was a very, very, very good example of a manga which had no idea what it exactly should be or had any sense of a pace development. Kind of surprising coming from a mangaka that did Beelzebub, but the cancellation was not surprising at all.It may survive because of delinquent-genre
but then again we had hungry marie so what do i know.
Honestly, the pacing of this chapter of Chainsawman felt like that of a series that knew it was going to be ending soon and would need to rush its final arc. However, it seemed to be selling pretty well, so the quick pacing of the arc's setup left me a little confused. I know odds are against it, but I hope Higuma can sell well. I'm enjoying it more and more after the last few chaptersMediocre setup chapter for Chainsawman. For something that is supposed to open a new big arc, it failed to make me "hype". Tragic backstory on point and very effective, everything else meh.
Gokutei Higuma is on a roll past 3 chapters, this one was fast paced, well written and serves a great development between the leads and the ending was cool.
I only accept Chiyoko for my Yonagi.Act Age is a harem manga.
Wake up sheeples
I don't know if I would put it in first but Act-Age is definitely top 3 to me.The Last Saiyuuki Ch 2 was decent to read but it reads as a pure prologue so far which is a terrible thing to do in a magazine where readers want faster paced manga. But I will root for it.
Act-Age is absolutely stunning to read as always. It manages to reinvent itself constantly with new characters and feels fresh each time. Coupled with a great art....one of my fav WSJ manga right now.
