bleach was popular in 2004, the quality of the manga fell and toriko stayed in his place.Bleach didn't get popular until the anime and even during its biggest years it had serious competition with other series in the mag.
Again, you're overestimating Bleach''s popularity. "The big 3" was a western invention.

Clearly Japan at least knows of that concept as pointed out the MHA editor used those 3 as the big series of last eraBleach didn't get popular until the anime and even during its biggest years it had serious competition with other series in the mag.

(the last comment made in the interview) https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/web_pages/126/That’s because it will give birth to the next generation of famous authors. Though it’s the same for other distinguished series such as “ONE PIECE,” “BLEACH,” or “NARUTO,” I believe a large piece of the baton will be passed down from “BnHA” to the next generation.
There is another image just like it that people on 4chan keep spamming, at least you posted a source now
Bleach is the 10th best selling manga of all time thoughBleach didn't get popular until the anime and even during its biggest years it had serious competition with other series in the mag.

Big3 being a western term doesn't exclude that bleach didn't sells well.Bleach didn't get popular until the anime and even during its biggest years it had serious competition with other series in the mag.

I think when people say Big 3 for those they usually refer to late 2000s/early 2010s, which is when all 3 reached their peak in sales more or less.I misinterpreted nothing.
What other time period do people lump One Piece, Naruto, and Bleach together like that.
Quit moving goalposts and retconning what you've said. It's embarassing.
It’s not AS successful, sure, but it’s still among one of the most successful Jump series, and worldwide is more recognizable than most of Jump’s other hit.I'm not saying Bleach didn't sell well. Just that other contemporary series did as well and that Bleach is not in the same category of success as One Piece or Naruto and only a westerner would think otherwise.
People these days are calling everything "battle manga"... It's no longer even funny... By the same logic Sport and Romance are also battle manga, because you have matches and you "battle" in tournaments (basketball, volleyball, sumo, etc) or "battle" to become the best and in romance you "battle" for your love. Guess that makes every manga in Jump "battle manga"...eight of them were battle manga, either traditional (HeroAca, Black Clover, Kimetsu, Jujutsu, arguably Chainsaw) or mental (Neverland, Stone, Act-Age)
One Piece is in its own category of success to begin with. It always was One Piece>Naruto>>Bleach, but considering they were three extremely successful battle manga that ran alongside each other in shonen jump for over a decade, it's not unnatural to group them together. It’s not AS successful, sure, but it’s still among one of the most successful Jump series, and worldwide is more recognizable than most of Jump’s other hit.
I'm not arguing that. It’s not AS successful, sure, but it’s still among one of the most successful Jump series, and worldwide is more recognizable than most of Jump’s other hit.
Bleach doesn't leave behind a "legacy". It wasn't a cultural phenomenon on the levels of OP or Naruto or Slam Dunk. But it definitely inspired many artists to draw and some to draw something "cool". Just look at WSJ author comments when Bleach ended and you'll see the influence Kubo and Bleach had on mangaka who came after him.Yes, Bleach was popular and was a Jump pillar, but I wonder if it really was THAT popular how we think it was, too. In April 2015 I was travelling around Japan and at the game centers I saw A LOT of One Piece, Naruto (manga ended in 2014), Dragon Ball (at the time Super didn't start airing yet, Freeza's movie was in its second week iirc) and Haikyuu figures, but I saw almost no Bleach figures at all...
What I want to say is that, even though Bleach's popularity fell down after the anime ended (2012), it seemed to me that didn't have that much of a legacy after the anime was canceled.

Aside from Death Note and Yu-Gi-Oh, none of those really blew up in popularity like Bleach did tbh. They were popular but don't forget that Bleach was so popular during the SS arc that Ichigo's bankai chapter got a full color chapter. Something Naruto only got at the end. There was a lot of hype behind Bleach during SS arc and about 2 years after that following which it slowly died.I'm not arguing that.
But so are Death Note, Eyeshield 21, Hikaru no Go, D. GRAY Man, Reborn!, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Bakuman as comparable or greater successes that ran concurrently.
Than only ones I agree with that are just as Death Note and Yu Gi Oh.I'm not arguing that.

Not this again. What you posted literally doesn't matter. Big 3 was ONLY a title for western popularity only. Magazine rankings and sales have nothing to do with it. Japan had nothing to do with it.Bleach was not part of a "big 3".
Are you incapable of reading or did you quote the wrong post? My entire point is the big 3 is a western invention and that bleach''s Japanese legacy is exaggerated by western fandom. Not this again.
