Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Yuuna Volume 24 (probably the final one, hence its up on preorder already) will be out in December, and will include 2 new special anime episodes in a blu ray disc (these were not in Season 1, so OVA or Season 2). Episode 1 "The Cursed Kogarashi", Episode 2 "The Last Minute !? Hot Spring Happenings" based on Chapters 99 and 141. Also a special bath poster drawing by Miura.

An anime adaptation of 141? Take my fuckin' money Shueisha; This'll be the first time I"m actually tempted to buy the special edition of a manga. Now we finally get to see some of the girls that the anime never got to. But I wonder who's doing this since Xebec is dead..

Their fates may have been wildly different, but they were also intertwined. I kind of want to bring up the crossover image of Tanjiro in Yuuna’s outfit again.

99 and 141. Those were some of the lewder chapters in that series, huh? This makes my earlier prediction of a Season 2 for Yuuna even more likely. If they somehow are making more anime, it’s certainly possible for them to do a second season within a new studio. As long as the staff remains the same, nothing should realistically change. I wouldn’t expect a full adaptation though.

I think @Mankichi Togawa mentioned that the anime was a disaster last time I brought this up. I forgot to ask - how so? I think Xebec was probably going to go under anyways, even if they didn’t adapt Yuuna.
I think it's pretty common for ecchi stuff to get OVA's bundled with it like this. I'd say the fact that they're going to adapt specific episodes (specially if they're the lewder ones) makes another season more unlikely.

You mistook biological Darwinism with social Darwinism, buddy.
Edited: wait, after rereading your reply, is that sarcasm?
You.. thought he was serious about murdering every non-anime fan he comes across..?

Well, Mash was already on his way when that racist asshole realized he was duped.
So? He still said "very clever."

Huh.

It took first place in that Oshi Jump+ event a few weeks back too (yes, above SPYxFAMILY). Was this a natural ending?

EDIT: To be fair, I just noticed that East, Into The Night placed 18th in that event, and we know how that turned out...

I forget, is Agravity Boys Volume 2 releasing in July? Is it the only newbie releasing that month?

I'm catching up on Chainsaw Man (40 chapters in) and all I can say is that Fujimoto is very clearly not following even a single cliche that most, if not all, other battle manga in WSJ are guilty of.
I've never read anything like this manga and to be doing something like it in 2020 in the most mainstream manga magazine is astonishing.

Easily the most interested I've been in a manga since Kingdom. I'm annoyed that I only have 30 some chapters left to catch up on (which I'll probably finish by today).
Sorry, Mash. You are probably gonna drop to 2nd place in my list of ongoing manga that I look forward to from WSJ.

Do we have any interviews with Fujimoto about CSM and his inspirations and such? I'm very intrigued to learn how he made this manga and what his thought process is/was.

IIRC he said The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was his favorite horror movie. Also, he said before CSM was released, he met with the head honcho in Jump, and they told him to literally "do whatever he wanted."

It would appear that Fujimoto has carte blanche with the series.

It's interesting they gave him this leeway considering that Fire Punch was never a really a "big hit". It's similar to how Togashi was literally able to do whatever he wanted for HxH due to YYH's success, just that Fujimoto still shares the copyright with Shueisha.

It is pretty interesting, yeah. You don't see that very often. However, it appears to be paying off, so Jump made the right decision.

I mean, I guess there would be no reason to let him in Jump otherwise. Maybe it's something similar to Nisio and Medaka (which is also a theory, but makes sense to me, it was also a pretty unique manga inside Jump's lineup) - Jump invited a more "auteur" creator to diversify their catalog and gave them artistic freedom to achieve it.

It seems that there are random moments when Jump decides to serliaize a manga that is not really in the Jump style. They even (briefly) serialized Barefoot Gen of all things.

Or maybe Jump doesn't care about having a style or have a motto and will serialize anything as long it is successful/popular.

If that were the case, we'd have Attack on Titan serialized in Jump right now. Pretty sure them losing out on that series is why we can have stuff like CSM.
Honestly don’t think attack on titan would have succeeded on jump. It would have easily been overshadowed due to it’s slow build up and bad art in the first few chapters anyways. That series isn’t really meant for a mainstream shonen magazine, more so a smaller monthly magazine or a seinen one. I don’t think attack on titan had anything to do with it because that series is seriously not meant for jump. I feel jump wanted a more diverse discography to appeal to different audiences (shojo- we never learn, non battle crowd but still like the shonen style- act age, horror/thriller- TPN, alternative/ seinen battle crowd-CSM, and ecchi- YYHHS) while still with each of these stories having the jump appeal of some sort (Act age- kind of have a small battle shonen approach to the acting world/ rivalries; CSM- extremely fast paced action/ witty humor; TPN- definitely the most unique one at least the first 115 chapters but does still go by effort, friendship, and victory; yuuna- teenage boys love tits). Attack on titan I think doesn’t really have that jump appeal nor does it fit with anything in the jump motto.
