Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Right now for me:

-Jujutsu Kaisen and Act-age are being the best manga in Jump since months already. They are being very dynamic, and very enjoyable weekly, giving also a sensation of "I want the next chapter"
-Neverland and Kimetsu are however being the most boring manga in Jump since months too (not counting Samurai 8). Both of them are giving me very static vibes and the story in both of them feel like is being very stretched.
-Dr.Stone would be in middle terrain. Is "static" like Neverland and Kimetsu, but at least is not being boring for me. I'd say We Never Learn is now in same situation.
-Haikyuu is shining again (for months it was in the "static" terrain but right now it is being amazing again).
-Hero Academia and Black Clover would be also in middle terrain, but at the same time, opposite way of Dr.Stone. They are "dynamic" but they don't transmit it so lively as Jujutsu and Act-age.
-Chainsawman is in its own world of madness.

About the newbies:
-I'm enjoying Yozakura Family and Zipman, but let's see how they do in the near future
-lol Samurai 8
-I'm still mad that Pilot is the forgotten character in Agravity Boys. I hope they give him a chapter already, the other 3 guys have already have their moments.
-Miitama is being very enjoyable. Better than David for sure.

Well, I wasn't expecting much from Undead but I quite liked it on the first chapter, more interesting than the others. I read the one-shot and the first chapter, and I like the serialization more.

I loved the first chapter of UxU. It was really intriguing, and felt like a breath of fresh air in the magazine. I'm interested on seeing where this is going. The dynamic between the two MCs is awesome. This has potential.

I agree with JJK and AA being the best stuff in Jump now, every single week for a while now these series have delivered amazing stuff. Neverland just lost its spark a whole year ago and hasn't recovered even in the least, while KNY has been focusing in the final battle for a really long time, and Kimetsu's battles are the most boring part of the series when it comes to the manga. HQ has been absolutely amazing after the timeskip, the last few chapters are peak HQ and Furudate is building an amazing last arc. BC has been kind of boring? After that big fight, everything hasn't felt compelling, especially that last reveal we got. MHA has only been building up stuff for a few months now, but it seems we're finally getting into the big stuff. S8 is a hopeless situation.

The one issue of censoring from Viz that sticks out for me is something from KnY:
Many fans tend to ignore/forget about it since Inosuke hasn't said anything this disgusting since then.

I can see why Viz changed it, especially if it was to maintain a certain rating, but it just comes across as absolving the character (and Gotouge) of a beyond-disgusting line. Hey, Gotouge, maybe don't have a character use a gross, gendered threat of violence toward one of the few female characters in the cast. They could've easily had him say, "I'll tear your arms off!", "I'll bash your skull in!", etc., which Viz could've gone with as well to avoid the disgusting line, but not have something so generic as "mess you up".

Rant over. :grumble
You think that's bad? Viz massacred a great character moment from my beloved Claymore with the use of "crap"

Didn't read Undead Unluck or anything yet but based so far on reception here, twitter and specially the almost 100% positive comments on Manga Plus, seems like again it was just a case of big drama (here) like Agravity Boys because there's a lot of praise for this first chapter, also seems like the "controversial" things aren't even bothering readers at all, to be honest i expected at least some minor outrage kkkk.

new serialization round on Jump Plus

1- Jigokuraku spinoff
2- Last Hundred Days till She Dies by Migihara (a web manga from Margert magazine mee app) there are chapters out & you can find translation for this on Mangadex
3- Ohisama Birdie by Daisuke Yui (Yumizuka Iroha wa Tejun ga Daiji!)
4- Teihen Yuchuba ga Uchuu Sensou o Totte Mita by Tsunezou Watanabe (Bye bye Jinrui) and Banai (Cicada) this is the manga that got leaked with the volumes release dates last September

UU was...I dunno. I expected to hate it like I did Agravity Boys, but instead I ended kinda confused.

I will say that it def feels like it's a one-shot more than anything else. While the question of "who is this guy" is brought up for us to ask, there's no real indication how the long term narrative with at all function. Also, the heroes are...not great, TBH.

I think with series like Chainsawman, Agravity Boys, and Undead Unluck, we are seeing post modernism creeping into Jump. It's frightening.

AA and JJK had more really good chapters.
CSM is building up after a pretty crazy arc but still pretty interesting.
Kimetsu's was ok but still, compared to the previous fight which I loved this one is quite the letdown.
MHA and TPN meh.

I'm a bit behind with haikyuu but I'll catch up when I have time.

I liked UxU even though I'm not sure what direction the author can really take it.
The newbies still don't interesting me much.

I think is just more of a reflection of the current Jump readers base being formed of more adults or young adults than kids, these more edgy and crude series, you can find all of them in more mature shounen and seinen magazines.

And it happened.

Quite sad how traditional gag mangas are really underrated here, you can't even say anymore that is Manga Editors not caring about the genre, its just that readers aren't much interested in, of course the weak beginning of Mitama also plays a big factor in this probably.

This part of the post struck out to me because it more or less encapsulates how I feel about current one piece. I feel like I'm constantly waiting for the next big plot movement which gives a big payoff, and the arc is just "in the way" of getting there.

i.e. I felt genuinely excited about Luffy's bounty going up at the end of the cake island arc, but the arc itself had me nowhere near as interested. Doflamingo's defeat felt very satisfying, but the arc itself felt stretched and exhausting.

To me OP peaked at MarineFord and everything after it has had me waiting for it to get back to that sort of impact, but it never got back there. Those arcs are still fine (although the fisherman one was a bit...ehh), but nowadays so many characters get thrown in within them that it really makes me question whether or not it couldn't have worked otherwise.

On this matter the reverie felt like a very refreshing time in One Piece, but it didn't last very long. I really do think OP would be fine moving away from the "troubles of the island" format and addressing its plot points more at this point, but that's just my opinion.

With this said though, I don't think OP is a bad manga or anything now, don't get me wrong.
Here its what I can agree on,
This has been for me the best chapter of Zipman to date. Very interesting chapter.

I'd say Jujutsu Kaisen has had the strongest chapter this week.
Also black clover was pretty intense, cant forget that

What a shock, judging a book by it's cover isn't a good idea.

It certainly had a pretty strong start, characters and entertaining and the powers are cool and were used quite creatively. The humour is certainly rather... dark however. Like I'm pretty sure I've never read another wsj manga that essentially ends with a comedy scene of the main guy chasing down the main girl to rape her. The way it played out actually made me laugh but seriously, wow.
Lmao these complains of y'all got a bit back fired,,, lesson learned. This manga can keep going as an niche, but can go on the axe danger cuz of the controversial topic. It can go in many directions cuz the japanese fans did like the one shot very well after all.

Dont lie peeps, it's a guilty pleasure if you do like the series plot. Cuz That's extacly the japanese fetish of desire. :hurr
