Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Somewhat related, I recall Riot Games has a team that check if their upcoming champions have anything insensitive or offensive worldwide (I recalled they changed one champion name pre-release due to her in development name was a slang word in Brazil Portuguese).
In this current age when Jump tries it best to expand globally, maybe they should consider to have some sort of team like that.
Its a can of worms to be sure but anime and manga has had a history of not caring foreign standards and practices which was honestly the appeal to a lot of people due to being unfiltered. This whole fiasco could have been avoided with more research but they genuinely seem oblivious to the response the word might have caused. Good old times when the leader of a nation that almost wiped out an entire race, experimented with humans and also belonged to a self called superior race was called Führer King Bradley and noone gave a single fuck are officially over.

Honestly, I don't know why we are still on this MHA topic. Horikoshi committed a big historical mistake, some people got (rightfully) upset, Horikoshi assumed the mistake and said he would change things, people demanded an apology, then not only Horikoshi but the whole Shueisha did it.
As of now, people who are still bullying Horikoshi are just trolls or fanatics and lots of replies related to this topic are borderline hate speech. So what's the point anymore?
Shuiesha has now put itself in a dangerous position where they can now bend down to the will of twitter mobs if they ever get this explosive again sacrificing the integrity of the artists in question. That's pretty significant. Also people are still going to push the notion that it was Horikoshi's intention to name the character after that incident despite all the evidence that shows the contrary. Anyways unlike Kodansha with Attack On Titan they did bow down to the outcry and changed the name to save face and not to lose out on a potential market.

People would give a fuck. Actually, people always give a fuck, it's just in the past internet is not that big for everyone to know and give a fuck.
It's another matter if their "giving a fuck" worth responding too.
Rereading my previous reply which references Attack on Titan and Blade of Immortal. People did give a fuck in those case but did it matter at all?

And to be clarified, this varies on case to case basis. I think MHA change is nessecary and unquestionable.

I mean not really. Its funny how the west are just now waking up to Attack On Titan's fascist themes years after its release despite it being a significant part of the story since the beginning and is outright stated to not be a good thing but I guess the immense popularity of the series drowned out all the accusations until recently, The the Swastika issue has always been a thing.

No doubt. I don't think its censorship at all since it was never an intention of the author to begin with unlike the case with Attack On Titan.

First volumes typically have a shorter amount of chapters (7 to be more exact) because the first chapter equals 3 normal chapters and the two subsequent chapters have additional pages. Releasing the first volume 4 months after serialization is the common practice, especially for the first series of a round of serialization.
I know about the lenght, but i remember that a lot of volumes of the newer series always had a release after the 15th chapter. A lot of time happens when the series is already dropped or nearly to be. In this case, a whole month prior is a lot.

In my opinion, however, it is pure and simple censorship, and censorship is never a good thing.

Maybe it was better to keep silent and wait for it to deflate, so they only gave him the hand to demand more.

From what I have heard around the internet, the best jump games are from Naruto, Dragon ball and Jojo. Which other high tier ones do you guys know?
Some One Piece games are good too.

Pirate Warriors games are very good "Musou games" and Gigant Battle saga in Nintendo DS is amazing. Even some WonderSwan games are so good too.

I'm more partial to the Grand Battle games back when "Power Stone" was the template for arena fighters instead of Budokai Tenkaichi (Sparking!) . Super Grand Battle X was a nice spiritual successor too,

That would have made it even worse honestly.

Gigant Battle 2...the last time Kobi was playable. The pain of being a stan.

He made a mistake that has pretty bad ww2 connotations (which, in case you aren't aware, is a big source of drama in the far east), apologised for the mistake, and fixed the easily fixable mistake. It's not some complicated slippery slope or whatever, it's basic human decency. When you make a dumb mistake you own up to it and fix it, you don't commit to the mistake out of some misguided pride in offending people.

It's not like they're changing some big important thing in the manga or removing content because China/Korea doesn't like it, it's just changing a character's name. It's a very minor thing that's easy to fix, especially when it's regarding an issue as touchy as WW2. There's no benefit to standing their ground in support of war crimes.

A team made by a kliq like the riot one? Riot the one revealed to have men working in that being cunts to other people.Yeah, I prefer that Shueshia doesn't change to that style, even if japanese style company sucks

It's that a really awesome looking mobile game got cancelled, allegedly.

Was that an officially licensed game? Because that looks light years better than most mobile games. Hell, that looks better than the console MHA games.
What the fuck is this game? Why does it look better than most last gen console games? How is this a mobile game? What.

Censorship exists everywhere. This isn't a new concept. Cities and countries that aren't in the west are usually very controlling about what is allowed and isn't.

Dubai is one of the most recognizable cities in the world.
I've already given the example how Dubai censors movies because it is a Muslim city. If you swear on the streets on Dubai and someone reports you, you can be arrested because it's illegal to swear publicly.
Want another example? Skype and any free video to video calling is banned in dubai. Dubai uses one app called Botim via telecom provider for which you need to a pay monthly fee to use.

You keep acting as if censorship is a China only thing when it isn't.

And I repeat, is it a right thing? Not for me, and trust me as an Italian I know how deadly censorship in the world of anime and manga is.

What then, if you want to censor the thing in your home, very free to do it, but to force the author to censor something created by him ... is wrong.

Do you actually read what I typed? I already knew riot are a bunch of assholes, but what I advocated for is a team specialised in localisation in order to not offense anyone like what Hori just did.

Sometimes I wonder if people here actually under English.

But there is no stupid mistake, what the hell is wrong or indecent about wanting to refer to a historical event?

So are you saying censorship should be supported?
Ice King it was never his intention to reference the event in question. This stance would make sense if Hori intentionally made it to reference that event as a statement but he didn't. I agree that it wasn't really a mistake just a misconception between culture barriers that shouldn't have sparked such controversy.

Dude, I understand your point, but your examples are goddamn horrible. And there is no point arguing people like Ice King. It's like talking to a wall.

Some better examples would be Ukraine banning communist images or Germany banning Nazi images. Now I wonder how Ice King respond to them.

If said author wants to publish his work in that region, then yeah.
You can argue about if it's right or wrong all day. But thats the reality.
