Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Kishimoto’s storyboards are still way more detailed and completely looking than what is done in these examples.

And my point is more so that this is likely the same process that was done in Naruto. Most manga artist leave stuff like inking, screentones, and even background art to their assistants to begin with.
It’s not like Kishimoto is doing simple panel layouts and placeholder figures for compositions. He was doing the character designs, and basically sketching the page in its entirety, which was what he likely did to begin with. The entire manga looked exactly like Naruto.
The art was rough in the beginning, but mostly because of the lack of depth and clarity in the inkwork
Yeah, its because Ohba isn't an artist. Whereas Kishimoto is a veteran artist who has drawn everyday for almost 2 decades . Kishimoto's "rough sketches" are going to be way more detailed than most other authors.

His experience also lets him do the panel layouts and whatnot easily. Even in the one example where you can see his version to the complete page, you can clearly see Okubo changed the angles, perceptions and even face model.

If you look at the 3rd example I provided for Bakuman, you can clearly see how Obata's experience as an artist greatly improved that name. His paneling, how he broke up that sequence into larger segments and individual panels all really helped drive that scene along. You probably won't get it since you haven't seen or read Bakuman but it was hilarious - something the original Ohba name seemed to lack because of his lack of experience art-wise.
Even then, you can see Ohba tried detailing face closeups as much as he could with reference lines etc.

How can you have access to all this? I always have to wait on Friday/Saturday to see those numbers on Oricon website

People in the know post exclusive information in this thread.

They've been doing that for years.

I remember Akatsuki Akira posting an example of how he and Nisioisin work as a duo in Shounen Shoujo, and Nisioisin typically didn't draw anything. He would make all the panel layouts and dialogue in his draft, and just write in each panel what he wanted Akatsuki to draw instead of doing sketches.

So I suppose how much the author does compare to the artist in a duo really depends on what the author is willing to do (and their drawing skills too).

I'm just wondering, did Black Clover pass the previous volume's sales or no?

Does anyone here have a data for how much copies the Volume 1 of One Piece sold in his lifetime that would be interesting. I'd guess it sold more than most active series total sales lmao...

Black Clover 23 didn't have a 4th week in Oricon to make a clear comparison, however it had sold 169,810 by its 3rd week, so we can assume volume 24 is still under by a few thousand copies.

Damn...still no info about the newbies...
Unless they manage grow by their next volume and manage to sell 15,000-20,000 first week, we won't see Oricon data on them any time soon.

6 out of these 9 series are from WSJ, it shows how big the magazine is.

They released almost 50 MHA chapters (100-147) on MangaPlus 'for staying in.' Available for a week.

Not sure why they picked chapters from the middle of the series though.

Bets on Shueisha releasing Kimetsu Kanzenbans once the series is done?
