Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

I think this little tweet is worth thinking about.

Historians may very well treat Kimetsu's explosion in popularity as an intrinsic part of manga's development as a medium.

Translation?

Never mind, tried translating on my own device.

"Kimetsu is probably going to increase the number of mothers of this comic book readership. It's very popular, but it's also incalculable for its contribution to the industry as a whole. Thank you very much."

Mothers. LOL

🤔
Google translate gives me this

"It seems that Demon is increasing the population of manga readers. Its popularity is great, but its contribution to the entire industry is immeasurable. Thank you. > RT"

I guess next batch will come in July. Betting on 2-3 new series, being one of them Burn the Witch.

I think the spots are going to be:
-Neverland (ending)
-Guardian of the Witch (axe)
-If 3rd series, it can be Yuuna (ending?) or Yozakura (axe?)

Burn the Witch is a mini.

More likely I think is Neverland ending for it to step in, and it's conclusion being around the point of the new batch.

I use iTranslate from the app store. I dunno if it's still around, but it's some of the better ones out there. And it does mention mothers in the original kanji (母). Just make sure you replace the kanji for Kimetsu with the latin to get a better read.

Lol. This discussion.
Luffy is a childish protagonist, much like Gon or early Goku or Naruto (first part) who act like 12-14 year olds but have to deal with adult problems and hence is forced to make decisions adults would make whilst with child like behavior. That's it. Most protagonists aimed at the Shonen demographic does the same.

The difference between early Goku and Naruto to Luffy is the age. Luffy before time skip is 17 while Naruto was 12 and Goku started off at 11. Gon is 12-14 or something. This is the reason why people call Luffy more childish than most other protagonists.

Character wise -
Luffy stands out for how stupid he is, Goku for how naive/stupid he was/is, Gon for how innocent and naive he is.
Midoriya doesn't act like a child. He acts like a late teen and tries to make the most logical decision he possibly can in most scenarios. Tanjiro is the same as well.

Please tell me I don’t have to be concerned about act age rating
You don't. Its a pretty unconventional manga in WSJ with growing sales. It'll be fine just like CSM which keeps lingering in the lower half most of the time.

-The groupal cover for me gives another message that they are done with Black Clover
Shhh, making logical observations about BC from magazine placements can lead others to think you just hate BC and are making illogical claims.

I...kinda doubt that's it, lol. The WSJ_manga account didn't mention it either.

Eeeeh didn't get too deep into it. Also, shouldn't it be 母数? Not just the first character alone. Anyway, the importance of the messages relies in the last part.

Black Clover is with JJK, Act-Age, Dr. Stone and Chainsaw-man in the cover. In other words, with the rest of B-tiers. Where else would you expect it to be?

True but it's also the slow progress backwards and the less than stellar average TOC placements. It's average TOC placements is the worst among all established series aside from Yuuna (I think), so far this year. Someone posted the average placements last week. I'm sure someone can do that again.

The last 3 Joint covers in order of newest to oldest

If you followed WSJ for a while, you'd know that these aren't the greatest of signs. But it's fine for now, as most would argue, because of TPN and KNY ending.

Crazy to think that if Demon Slayer ran much longer we could have ended up with seeing either Luffy AND Tanjirou occupying the biggest positions in these covers. Or Tanjirou taking becoming the big position character

It must be said that currently the Jump, since it will say goodbye to two big shots like Kimetsu and Neverland, cannot afford to be picky, so if a series will be canceled in the near future and because it will go really, really badly.

So, it really seems twitter Japan will explode with this chapter and the next one. I can definitely see some mangaka from other mag and this one drawing KnY's characters as a tribute.

I wonder.
If KNY was a long running series, would WSJ have the guts to replace Luffy with Tanjiro? Especially since OP is the 2nd best selling series currently per volume (So weird to say this, LOL. For some reason I thought OP would remain the best selling manga every year till it ended. Such weird times.)

Anyway, my point was it's not like Kochikame which reduced in sales so much that it wasn't even a decent seller anymore. So, would WSJ still have the guts to replace Luffy with Tanjiro in the hypothetical scenario that KNY was a long running series?

I was actually expecting to see Tanjiro and Luffy as two extremely big position characters followed by everyone else for this current issue. Low key surprised WSJ didn't do that but I guess it's also expected given how it is ending.

I'm intrigued to see what the author comments would be like more than the tribute drawings.
