Moderator Notice:
Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Monthly Shonen Sunday also has a manga about playing board games that did well enough to get an anime (https://myanimelist.net/manga/69035/Houkago_Saikoro_Club) although it's more episodic but I don't think stuff like video/board/card games would be too boring in the right hands.

Hell, while it's usually virtual reality and comes from light novels there's a ton of stories essentially following characters playing competitive video games. Bofuri and Infinite Dendrogram that had anime last season are exactly that and of course SAO.

To tie this back to Jump I don't see why an e-sports manga would break hype. If the characters are playing something like Fortnite we don't need a new cast of 99 characters every time there's a new game (and it could be a death game without being edgy I guess lol). If they're playing something like Street Fighter there can be super tough battles without a character having to be stuck in the hospital when they lose (or win depending on how close it was). Hell, something like CoD we can have revenge stories unfold within the same match since people will respawn. You can still explore the character's psyche. I doubt the manga would just suddenly pan to a character mashing a keyboard or controller without giving any kind of internal dialogue or facial expression to give emotion which already happens in spokans anyway.
in this age now of anime fandom, junkfood eaters rather want an straight up isekai than an normal E-sport.... E-sport in jump would still certainly work

E-sports is a rising sports industry and gaining millions of new fans every year. It's only going to get bigger.
So, capitalizing on it right now would be a very smart decision. Of course, the series needs to be good.

Bold of you to think that there's a chance that they're not milking the fuck outta Demon Slayer for the rest of the decade. xD
xD xD

As long as they don't do Super-style stuff, everything is fine.

Spin offs on the past of the characters are more than acceptable.

My next batch prediction:

TITLES LEAVING THE MAGAZINE
-The Promised Neverland
-Guardian of the Witch (axe)
-Yuuna-san (?) (if Yuuna still continues, then I'm saying Yozakura or Mitama).

TITLES COMING IN NEXT BATCH
-Burn the Witch
-A spokon (it has been +1 year since last spokon aka Beast Children. And Haikyuu is ending in Fall or in 2021)
-An action manga by a newbie (hopefully they serialize that viking oneshot from last year).
Can you send me a link to the Viking manga you are talking about. Also since we never learn is also ending 2020/2021 then I can also see a rom com ip coming in the next batch.

There are some questions where you have to give answers (there is one where you have to choose 3 options or somet check if you've done that
Silly me skipped a question. Thanks, now it works.

Off topic: From your profile, I can see your a fan of run with the wind. Prince's running form still cracks me up
Prince is the best character of the whole series. I love him.

Actually, I hope the next spokon fokuses more on the characters and personal growth than the usual competition. I like Haikyuu, but pretty much all its characters are volleyball freaks who want to be the very best. They are too similar imo.

Quite a few fans here. Very underrated series that I need to finish, rip. Pretty sure a lot of the production crew that did the first few seasons of Haikyu worked on the series.

Tokyo Wonder Boys, football manga which was a failed attempt to tie into the 2014 World Cup.
Well, I can see why this didn't work. I got bored halfway the first chapter.

I can see his style working in a different setting though.

Was looking around out of curiousity and I found this chart of Jump assistants

Does anyone know where we get this sort of info from? Has there been official Japanese assistants charts, or is it just based on various things different mangaka have said?
--- Double Post Merged, , Original Post Date: ---

it's from 2018 too, so I'd be curious to see a new one with more recent creators included.
I colour-coded it to make it a little easier to digest.

Wow. If this were a family tree, it would mean that 2/3 of the members die without descendants (read: 66% of assisitants never have an assistant of their own). That's a pretty harsh environment.

There are some nice 'family lines' in there though. The longest I could find is 10 generations, from Hiroshi Motomiya to Kenta Tsuchida (or Atsushi Nakamura, if we're including assistants). I wonder if there's any knowledge being passed down the line that lasts.

Remember when some of us wanted Galaxy Gangs to be a published series?

I really do not want to get my hopes up for a long running viking manga in Jump.

I know people like to complain about Nak’s influence over current Jump. So I was wondering if there were any editor in chiefs that people thought had a really good influence on the magazine.

What "influence"?

I'm genuinely puzzled as to what people are complaining about.

I wonder if we'll get some really short chapters or quick gag strips or something from creators that are really struggling to finish their chapters currently, like how some weekly Jump+ series will put a mini-chapter or illustration instead of a proper chapter every so often.

The pages on Manga Plus aren't automatically in full screen for all of you too? it's annoying having to zoom each page.
This is why read on Viz, I hope they fixed it because I'm near sighted btw
