There was a poll with female wotas regarding male characters in general and Rengoku, Tanjirou, Zenitsu, Uzui and Sanemi were all ahead of Inosuke. He might just be near the bottom of the top 10.

Bakugou's personality would beg to differ.
Nah, Bakugou fits the yumejoushi/fujoshi fantasies of “taming the bad boy”. So you see why he has so many fujo fans.

Oh yeah, forgot about Moriking first ranking, voted on top 5, you never know, it was a very good start and without Yaiba and Neverland the top 5 is now more "open".

Why is Act-Age sometimes hanging out pretty low in the TOC?

Mashle's hold still fantastic, and not half bad for Yozakura, stayed in top 100 all four days of first week. Unfortunate drop for Undead, hopefully it jumps up again next day. Very interested to see the estimates, especially Yozakura and Undead, because they each spend two days ahead of each other, wonder what that equals out too.

Undead continues to keep providing momentum every week heading into the next chapter. It is something fascinating when a complete newbie like Tozuka-sensei has the ability to pack relevant information in every page without leaving almost a single panel wasted. The series reads as if it was by someone you would expect to be a veteran in the industry with plenty of experience under his belt. It’s extraordinary that it’s written by an almost unknown rookie.

Sure enough, Undead has made its way to my most anticipated weekly read alongside Chainsaw. There is just some “hype” factor about these two that is reminiscent of older series such as Toriko and Bleach. Fujimoto and Tozuka have managed to use that factor well early into their careers to keep the readers attentive and pumped for what can happen next.

Speaking of One Piece, the series is the last one I would expect having a fujo following, but here we are.

Ace, Luffy, Law, Kid, Killer, Zoro, Kaku, Drake, Lucci, Cavendish, Bartolomeo, Doflamingo. Crocodile, Katakuri, and Cracker are the usual subjects.

All attractive male characters, in other words. Hardly surprising if I'm honest.
I mean heck, even Detective Conan has a gigantic fujo following. Most battle shonen in particular will always have a degree of fujo following as long as male characters exist and interact (or not even).

For a comparison, vol 3 of Gokutei Higuma that was already canceled with 19 chapters (and a epilogue on Plus) was at #155 on it's 4th day, so Mitama is really performing bad which is quite weird taking in count all the efforts, seems like is just not able to click with a bigger audience.

Well, I understand that. And I think TPG has actually been quite popular and good for the most part, right?

It has a great premise, a great first chapter, good art, and the later chapters, in my opinion, are really good. Better than most, If not all, of the other newbies.

I think that some of the things that are been criticized are premature.
As someone who used to be way too critic towards new WSJ manga, I have to agree. For example two years ago, when Jujutsu Kaisen was still fairly new, I was incredibly nitpicky when criticizing the first three chapters. I criticized every little detail I could find, failing to realize that most of those details don't matter to new readers. This was at the time when we still only had access to the first three translated chapters. I ended up dropping the manga.

A few months later I took a peek at chapter 15 and it actually looked very interesting. I planned on reading it again at some point, but never got to it until last week. And I have to say the first three chapters I heavily criticized back were actually fine. The series overall so far up to where I am right now (chapter 33) is a well written battle shounen. But it still takes a few chapters time early on until you can see that.

So I think in general, the big picture of a WSJ manga matters a lot more early on than small details. A series captures an audience because of things like an interesting premise, good comedy combined with either good art or art that is great at telling the story the author wants to tell. Most readers usually aren't nitpicky early into the series, because they don't know it yet. Rather than looking at some small details, they are looking for something that hooks them into the series.

I think this is especially what TPGW does very well. It has a really interesting premise that hooks you in. While personally, I found it a little weird how Aino accepted so fast that someone else came up with the same story, that's her character. And most readers probably aren't going to criticize small details of a character early on as long as there's an interesting premise and good art. I think it's best to wait until we can see the direction the manga takes before criticizing small details like this. At least I could appreciate the premise of Jujutsu Kaisen a lot more when I knew that it would get interesting.

Seems like Mitama Security dropped again vol to vol. That sucks.

Great for Mashle!

The problem is that he's not very interesting either (for now). Sure, the MC doesn't need to be good or likeable, but he needs to be 1) somewhat relatable and 2) make you want to follow his story. If he's a complete lunatic whose actions are incomprehensible to most people, the manga will probably have a niche audience at best. But if he is easy to understand and boring, it's not going to work either (unless there are other characters that can carry the story).
I mean, Death Note had a lunatic MC whose actions were often a mystery to the reader and it was still incredibly popular. You don't necessarily need a relatable MC if the premise is built on a conflict. That's the main difference from TPGW to most other manga.

The majority of manga is built on the characters while TPGW is built on a main conflict between characters, similar to how Death Note at the beginning was built on the conflict between Light and L or TPN at the beginning was built on the conflict between Emma, Norman, Ray with Isabella. Just that in this case, only one of the characters is aware of the conflict.

That's a really strong debut for mashle, I guess the rankings were warranted. Also good numbers for UU.
