[mod=Halloween]Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.[/mod]

I'm really not one to defend KnY but.. I mean even if technically it didn't break the record you mention (I assume DB is the record holder?) Dragon Ball got those crazy numbers back in 1993 Issue 12 of WSJ with a circulation of 6,380,000 against 2020's which I assume is around 1'600,000 (Basing myself on the info on wikipedia) which is almost 400% less issues of Jump..

That also means the turnout was way higher, almost 10% of the people that bought that issue of Jump voted in the KnY poll while "only" around 3.15% voted for Dragon Ball.

So.. basically accounting for "inflation" those 130,316 votes would have been around 520,000 votes if Jump had the same circulation using the rule of 3.. But of course that's not really how things work, but yeah.
That reasoning would make some sense if you were comparing the total number of votes in both polls... but you're not. Dragon Ball got ~130k votes for just the top 3.

Does anyone know how many people voted in that poll in total?

Compare to other wsj popularity polls this is rare for a character type like Zenitsu to take first place majority of the time it's the rival/cool character or the main character
I actually feel bad for Tanjiro now. Fourth place, really? :/

I am not finding the total number but the Top 10 had ~170k and tenth place got 756 votes so it has probably 180-190k votes.

I was, I went and checked and although we don't have total numbers for the DB poll an educated guesstimate would be around 200k tops (Dende had 756 votes, which btw shows how unbalanced the votes were in the DB poll, the 10th place, Dende having 1/50 of the votes of 1st place Gohan, KnY on the other hand had a more "uniform" vote, the girl on 10th place had 1/3 of the votes of the 1st place.

The votes are so skewed in the top 6 that it's almost as if the rest of the characters' votes would probably not make much of a difference, but let's entertain that possibilty.

Summed up the top 10 characters had 170k votes, Dende on 10th place had 756 votes, so assuming other 50 unraked characters had each 756 votes that makes it 37,800 extra votes... (Total of 207,800 possible votes in this scenario).
So I assume 200k votes would be the max, because obviously the other "50 unranked characters" didn't each get 756 votes.

Obviously this scenario it's not real, and If I were to take a guess the total votes was around 180k with all the unranked characters.

The cut of this week was pratically 27k, this is really high, not a surprise Black Clover got out since vol 25 sold 19k in the third week, even if vol.26 increased in sales it would still probably be out, this serves for many of Magazine and Sunday releases this week too.

Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Train reach 6.89 billion ¥ in 7 days and surpass the 6.87 billion ¥ that One Piece Film Z did in all its life in cinemas in Japan. Kimetsu no Yaiba Movie: Mugen Train is now the highest-grossing Jump Anime film in Japan.

With that much success, I can see that ufotable will adapt another movie. Maybe they will adapt the final arc into movie in 3 parts, or at least a movie adaptation for the final battle.

Could be, but I hope that at least the ending will be left in television format to give continuity to what has begun.

As much as it will be great quality wise, I don't see it happenning in terms of pace. for an almost 75 chapter arc is suits perfectly as a third season with a budget similar to fate. the pace can be faster than the next season or so but a lot less happens each chapter.

What makes the most sense is for Red Light District+Swordsmith village to be made into a tv season 2 and then a series of movies for the final arc

Hello, new here!

I see that nobody posted this, which is a bit of a surprise considering the amount of stuff that has been going on as of late. But hey, better late than never, correct?

On another note, does anyone have some form of information regarding the rookie mangakas from this year`s Future Golden Cup? Like previous one-shots or if they were or still are assistants to know authors and whatnot.

I agree about the second season, but I think that an arc split into several movies is a less better decision. another season will have a much better pacing and ebd points than those of movies which require a specific end goal for each one. No disrespect for the source material but none of the final arc is movie material in terms of building a clear goal from each fight to the next one and I certainly wouldn't want to wait 4-6 years for this arc to be completed.

I do agree that the last arc shouldn't be split into multiple movie. The arc have one beginning , a bunch of fight in the middle and a big fight at the end, splitting it out mean that there will be parts that have no beginning or end,

I don't care about Fate so haven't seen them but aren't the Heaven's Feel movies Ufotable is doing essentially splitting an arc into 3 movies? Shaft did that with Kizumonogatari as well and I think it worked out really well.

Heaven's feel is a super long VN route, so not really. It's pretty much a standalone story more than an arc (although obviously going into it with the knowledge you have from the previous routes adds a lot more to the experience, which is why it's the last route).

I think RLD and swordsmith can work as movies, 1 each. The final arc on the other hand would be pretty hard even splitting it due to the way it's structured, but I'm sure if they want to do movies they'd find a way. Money always finds a way, so to speak. The hard part would be to find a satisfying cutoff point i guess.

I've been checking Shoseki dailies, and ever since October 18th, all of Kimetsu no Yaiba's volumes have hogged the very top spots in the ranking.

All of them. All 22 spots.

We're gonna have another historic Oricon week, unless some big new manga release soon.

I guess if Kimetsu's new boost + Jujutsu continue, the new series (and Yozakura's new volume) will end up not looking great in the chart numbers even if they do pretty well.

Granted Kimetsu was already pushing everything up but now we've got another possibly extra few spots from Jujutsu doing it.

I can't see there being much chance of that happening unfortunately if the #50 spot is selling 28k.
