Oh man, Matsui and Shinohara?! So many Jump veterans! This is such an exciting time!

And Moriking is finally down. I think it lasted a bit too long.

I'm very happy with this batch. Two of the most-talented Jump authors are back, and the other two authors come back romcom and spokon to the roster.

Kowloon is the one that has piqued my curiosity the most. It has no competition in Jump and in shonen magazines in general so I can be it being a hit and appealing to both sports fans and fujos if author and artist do it right. And baseball is the main sport in Japan. If it gets succesful...how will be its reception in West? Baseball, unlike basketball or voleyball, doesn't practically exists in Europe.

What a great TOC and news after the New Years drought.
  • As for the rankings, Mashle is really doing great as of late and Me & Roboco is still in the top 5. No complaints here. Still not great times for Phantom Seer unfortunately...
  • Build King's first rank is 8th? After all/most in recent batches have been in top 5 this is a little surprising, and especially since they tried to retroactively paint the extra pages in the early chapters as due to 'popularity'. Let's see how it goes from here, especially since it's from a veteran.
  • Speaking of veterans, Yusui and Kenta are back! Yusui isn't my favourite but he's an undeniable powerhouse that the magazine needs right now so I'm open to what he brings and if it ends up being his third hit for the third decade in a row. And a historical series? Nice. I still have to finish the last few volumes of Sket Dance (bad, I know) but that's another veteran I'm excited for!
  • As for the other two, it looks like neither are newbies either (although not massive successes either). I never touched Invade You! so will be curious to see what Kazusa Inaoka brings. I imagine it'll be something more light-hearted. If the last is a sports series then I'm all for that, though what a tough batch to be a part of. Does it look to be baseball then? It's not a sport we see often in modern WSJ so that'll be interesting if the case.
  • So Moriking did end as expected. It started off funny but longevity never seemed to be on the table.
  • Unless they bring the total up to 21 series (which feels unlikely) then I think as others have said Our Blood Oath will also end which is good, no point prolonging the inevitable.
  • Although this nice big batch including two successful veterans is a great thing, this might not be a great time for the new 2020 series. If Our Blood Oath does end already then all of Hard-Boiled Cop and Dolphin, Phantom Seer, High School Family, and even Magu-chan would be the next on the chopping block (unless either Build King or Sakamoto Days drops straight to the bottom in the coming weeks). Thank god I'm a Roboco fan, though depending how this year plays out even that might not be in the best spot after a few serialisation rounds.

Having competition inside the magazine or out is the least problem that all the baseball series on Jump from at least the last 10/20 years had to face kkkk

-Matsui manga is going to be an historical tale
I used google translate to try and find out what the title translates to and it roughly seems to translate to "Wakagimi who is good at running away". Wakagimi seems to be a term for a child of a high ranking aristocrat or noble. So my guess is that the manga could be about an MC that is a child of a noble family, but ends up running away from home for some reason. So it would definitely make sense for it to be a historic setting.

Nothing on the Kenta Shinohara series? The name is very interesting, wishing that is actually about witches and magic

its the hunterxhunter replacement. WitchxWitch. X is silent.

Also with matsui's series its called Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi kinda translates to The Aristocrat's Skillful Escape
Or the Skillful Escape of an Aristocrat
Quirky series
More specifically wakagimi is the child of an aristocrat

Regarding Jujutsu Kaisen:

That's really high.

The manga between Jujutsu and Naruto is The Prince of Tennis. And the one between Naruto and Haikyuu is Assassination Classroom.
Misses stuff like Slump and death note, both of which hit 20M faster. But impressive nonetheless.

It's hard to guess what Matsui's new series could be, but considering his titles tend to be very literal and his series are a mix of serious and comedy (and about a character of mixed morals), my guess is maybe a Phantom Thief series or some other type of noble criminal who's great at evading the police.

Per a reliable blog leaker Ryokutya, it's apparently a historical escape story set around the Heian period.

undead... so low
Good place for Yozakura and Build king... I believe next week will be very good for Sakamoto days too
Hard boiled is resisting, I hope it will survive and most of all...
MATSUI AND SHINOHARA ARE BACKKK!!! I love the fact that the author of Invade you is returni, I really loved his drawings, even if I would really really like if Alice and taiyou would come back, I loved the style and the gentle trait in drawing women.

So in this batch Agravity, moriking, we never learn finished and probably our last blood next week.
So this batch was successful for Magu chan and Dolphin and cop, at least a bit.
