Kuroko is a laughable replacement for Eyeshield and is far from dark. All we have is another series that lacks substance yet still manages to stay around. I guess it can keep Bleach company.

Now more importantly, I'm curious if Jump is going to pull this month of color thing in December too. If they do I sure as hell hope they don't choose Beelzebub or Kuroko to start off the 2010 calendar year. I also hope they don't whore them out as much as they did this year.

well, when I first heard issue #2 was Kuroko's anniversary, the first thing that came to my mind was January becoming Kuroko-month.

What I meant by dark is probably what for you guys is Serious. To me, dark is every character that by his own nature (aside of any events) his personality is more mature, or less mainstream for that matter. I.E: Raito (DeathnoteN), Allen Walker(D.Grayman), Edward Elric(FullMetalA.)... is not that they can't give us some comic relief, it's that they are somehow, more mature than most of the main characters in Shonen Manga.

As you said, Kuroko himself is the only one that could make the manga stand out, and he is infact, the main character of the series.


Now, I hope the next Color Month (if any) goes to Bakuman. Although It'll probably go to Mago =[

I'd love a Mago color month, that would be spectacular!! Bakuman too, of course.

Hokenshitsu debuted top 5. I'm surprised that Hokenshitsu didn't get colour until chapter 9 at this high on its first ranking. Is that means Hokenshitsu dropped after?

Also, it looks like Bleach is taking a break next week. Looks like Jump having three top series a break.

Kuroko is high lol, how neat. I'm surprised the shinigami chapter 1 debuted so high, I didn't find much particularly interesting about it.

Seeing as I am wholly unfamiliar with Shinigami I won't judge it's placement and just be happy for it It's possible it will get center color for chapter 10 instead, there's no rule about when strong debuts get their first non - complimentary colors. They all do get them, of course. Happy to see Toriko back in the top 5 even if the last few chapters haven't been overly impressive. Mind you I haven't read 69 quite yet.

If Hokenshitsu is in high spot on next week and didn't get colour again, I'm going to be pretty mad at the editors. If Hokenshitsu is high, it should treat equally with Kuroko and Beelzebub.

I'm sure it will. All of the other recent successes, even the supposed successes, got color shortly after being ranked. Mago and Double Arts both got color shortly after chapter 8. So did Toriko, Bakuman, and even Ane Doki. Only two series were listed as having color for issue 49, Gintama and Beelze. There's always the possibility that when the bottom 5 is posted Shinigami is added as a color page. Or maybe it will get in issue 49.

Wow. That's a really good start for Hokenshitsu.
Maybe our predictions were all wrong? Chap 1 was better than I expected based on the oneshot, but it doesn't really improve further on, so I'm guessing it will drop soon. Or not.
Psyren didn't quite escape the bottom.

Toriko's really high. That's good. This arc is really cool, it's developing a new long arc. This might compare to the beginning of it.

Why the hell is Kuroko so high?
I mean, nobody is translating it. And I'm never gonna do that.... so don't ask.
And nice to see Beelzebub so high.

Weird Hokenshitsu no Shinigami so high. But maybe it'll do well if it is on it's first ranking week. Naruto being out helps everything, but Bleach will be out next week which'll help things too. Plus then Gintama has color pages all month.

Oh wow, Shinigami. Conrats to it debuting so high.. But this is just the 1st week so I won't believe its all fine just yet. It will be nice if Lilienthal manages to do good to for a bit.

Kuroko so high just makes me lol. If the quality hasn't gotten better I really will just shake my head.

Nice to see Toriko at #2. Sket and Ane Doki have fine positions as well. Psyren just barely managed to escape the basement this time I see.

Odd, nothing about Gintama scoops? Just a month of color? Seems weird because when Reborn got it's color onslaught, they also said scoops would come with it. Meanwhile Gintama's just got the color announcement.....I mean it's good publicity, but a month of color for no reason seems....well strange.

The Reborn "scoops" never came with the spoilers/news. ANN posted them. Though, raw - paradise is just listing a month of color, no "scoops" like they did for Reborn. Most of those were duds anyway. Art book, some 4min anime shorts that will run during commercials. I'm just looking forward to all the color.

We're still waiting for this week's scoop for Reborn aren't we? And I do remember them saying that they would announce something new with each color when Reborn was announced to get this in October.

There was the art book, "petit anime", a light novel chapter in issue 12 of SQ, and the popularity poll. All fun stuff but I'm not sure deserving of a month of color. I don't read Reborn so I can't say much about plot developments or such. I suspect if there is any Gintama announcements it will be for similar things. A movie announcement would not surprise me. I think both series are being used as tests for month long "spotlight series" type of features.
