I died a little inside when I saw Gintama below Kuroko.

Wow, talk about an ideal TOC. The only thing that could make it better was a Psyren cover and Mago one space higher. Great week for all things mid-tier.

Awesome, Kuroko's in the Top 5 again! I hope it keeps it up.

Eyeshield 21 has also recovered somewhat from recent times. Now, we just need D.Gray-man to move back up.

I think the fall of Gintama may have to do with the fact that the Tsuusengumi arc (which was Shinsengumi-focused and within the 8-weeks the last few weeks of ranks) was over around then. With everything since then (whether this was around the cold one-shot or the start of Tama Quest), the fangirls voting weren't into it.

As for Naruto beating OP...as much as I want to go into tard-mode, this was around the point where the huge revelations of the Pain fight occured so I give it some slack for once. (though still before "the big one") Though seeing Kuroko so high still is a good showing for it. (as is Toriko stealing a cover from Bleach)

One more thing: with the Katsura comments, it reminds me that Wingman is one of several series I want to start doing...or at least get the raws I found on MH in case someone else does.

Yes! That made me laugh of gloating joy and satisfaction.

Concerning Naruto overpowering One Piece, yeah, I think it's okay...even though we had the return of good ol' Bon-chan 8 weeks ago.^^

(Oh, and I would appreciate Kuroko changing its position with Hoop. But who knows, maybe they let Hoop pass this round of cuts - Asklepios also suffered such rankings in its pre-ranked weeks and could go for, well, at least 20 chaps...guess it all depends on next week's position.)

Oh yeah, I just saw that Oricon updated the tankou sales...

01. Bleach 38 -- 476.611
03. Reborn! 24 -- 265.306
04. Gintama 28 -- 229.223
07. ToLove-ru 13 -- 85.154
11. Nurarihyon no Mago 4 -- 74.270
12. Shaman King 27 (Kanzenban edition) -- 63.864
18. One Piece 53 -- 40.917 (fifth week) --> 1.682.869 total

----

So for now ToLove's still ahead of Mago. And the rest is not really something one didn't see coming...(minus One Piece still charting maybe)

The numbers this month really weird me out. They're really low, for every series. ToRa sold about half what volume 12 did. Reborn and Gintama are down by about 100,000 copies compared to every volume released in the last year. Bleach is down by about 125,000 copies. If it had only been Mago or ToRa down I might not have noticed. But those are huge slides for every Jump series except Shaman King. Oricon's update today was for the week of 3/31 - 4/6. Jump Comics always come out on the 4th. I have a suspicion that every series above Shaman King will have bigger then usual second weeks. In ToRa and Mago's case it could double this weeks.

Is this "Keppu Gakkyu Kai" a new series or a one-shot?

This makes me sad. Oda's taking a break so close to a double issue. The suspense is killing me.

Anyways, the full toc for the current edition of WSJ annoys me. Naruto beating One Piece, Kuroko so high, Hoop Men so low (and Mago, too, but at least it has decent tank sales as opposed to Hoop Men which hasn't released a volume yet). Let's hope Neuro's ending, and some other series I don't care about make room for Hoop Men to hang in there for a while. This low so quickly doesn't bode well for it though :crying. I hope next week's TOC is better.

We see it a lot where series that come out right at the end of the tracking period tend to have larger second weeks, so I don't think there's much to worry about. We'll probably see strong showings from all of them next week.

Naruto frequently beats One Piece. It's been a few weeks since it has, still not a surprise. What's amazing is that only two series ever get number one.

I'm thinking the same thing. It was a bit disconcerting as I've never seen series tumble in sales by such large margins so quickly. Plus I'm rooting for Mago to join the Gintama, Reborn, D. Gray Man tier or better. After looking at the date of the tracking period I figured we were only seeing partial sales.

I think as recent as a year or two ago, we occasionally had a weird week when something else was #1: Gintama, Reborn, Bleach...but these days with OP and Naruto just that powerful and with that much of a grip in the magazine, nothing else has a chance.

Ever since the Uchiha arc started last winter it seems Naruto has choked out every action series other then One Piece. Maybe some day Toriko can get over the hump. But with the big two (I won't acknowledge Bleach as part of the club) as powerful as they are it may be a while.

Just checked, and Bleach was #1 in issue 49 of last year, although One Piece was on the cover that week. Gintama in Issue 47, although Naruto was on the cover and that was the week that Oda got punished for being late.

Last time both One Piece and Naruto were in the magazine and not on the cover and something else was #1 was Issue 39, where Bleach was #1.

I think that both series have just been on top of their game so much lately, and some series seem to have been slipping (see Eyeshield 21, which used to occasionally slip in that #1 spot).
