As much as I like the art, the color is really bland, nothing compare to Bakuman's cover. The color spread are also not that special compare to mago. BTW, anyone still checking on amazon? Mago, Reborn and Medaka has reached 100 while Akaboshi is back to 1000

Now that's a good cover in the midst of their so-so covers leading up to now.

I read in another forum
There will be a poster of Reborn in Jump # 45. and there will be a new scoops on Reborn in the next 4 numbers. So 4 Scoop in a row.

Yup, but who knows what it will all lead up to, that seems to be the real mystery since having four in a row should mean something important is coming. Though reborn already has a novel and an anime, what's left?

An art or databook probably wouldn't warrant 4 colours in a row, a movie would probably be our best bet.

Who knows? it might be something like Rebron going on hiatus and WSJ trying to make up for it with posters and stuff. (very unlikely to happen :D)
that was kind of the deal with Death Note

The Amazon numbers keep changing, Akaboshi's 887 now and Medaka's 140. To be quite honest, I don't think this means much. And if it does, it's more likely to be a matter of Medaka selling insanely high than of Akaboshi being below average.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what Psyren's first week sales for volume 1 were? Yeah, just the first week sales.

It's good to be cautious of pre-order numbers. They do indicate something, but actual sales may be surprising. As a music fan, I've seen tons of... well, music CDs... start out with good sales because of pre-orders and then the sales just PLUMMET after that because the fans have already bought what they want. Akaboshi may not be doing well now, but we won't know for sure until the actual numbers come out... and then wait a few weeks to see longevity. But this isn't looking good, no..

I like Medaka and all but if it's selling that well then I just don't know why. It could be the NisiOisiN fans but in my opinion Medaka just doesn't compare to Bakemonogatari.

Nice Bleach cover by the way, although as it was pointed it out earlier, the colours used in it could be better (unless it's the scan's fault). The colour spread is also nice, reminds me of a fashion magazine.

ALL of the Bleach color spreads are like fashion magazines...

I wouldn't bank on the amazon sales. It's only a small part of the market that buys from there, and that's based on people ordering it before it comes out.

Well, there are no covers on Amazon yet since most of them are presented in next issue of JUMP which is in stores September, 29th (mo.).
If we're lucky some of our beloved Raw Providers will scan the preview pages some time soon (as it's already been done in Reborn!'s case) :tem

I believe akaboshi's art is gonna be a decisive factor to sales Medaka and akaboshi's popularity with jump readers isn't impressive so the one wich can atract more readers from other magazines is the one wich is going to sell more. And I have to say akaboshi's art is amazing Medaka is also amazing but not so much so akaboshi is probably going to sell better IMHO.

Re: Weekly Shounen Jump [2009] - Discussion & TOC Talk v.3

^I think the art has very little to do with actual sales.

What I think will happen is: Akaboshi's sales will be way below average for the first volume, but (assuming the author manages to keep the quality high for the next chapters) it'll start doing better and better in the ToCs, which in turn will make readers more interested in buying the tankohons. As long as it doesn't get axed in a reasonable period of time (say a year or two), I can see it reaching the 100k mark sometime in the future. BUT unlike Medaka, the readers of other magazines won't have anything to do with it. As far as content goes, Akaboshi is as "Jump-like" as it gets; if it has to find its audience somewhere, it's within Jump, not somewhere else. Which is why I believe ToC rankings will influence its survival - or death - much more than sales (see how long Psyren lasted, despite selling poorly).
