Well at least Pierrot implies that it may be more than simply 12 or even 24 episodes, potentially. Is it a series that could be good for CG?!
You have my condolences Tokyo Ghoul fans.It is confirmed that Studio Pierrot going to work on upcoming Tokyo Ghoul anime. The directer will be Morita Shuuhei.

It might be good though XD That aside I'm more concerned about Terra Formars. I'd really like if the anime was done by either Madhouse or White Fox (might be unlikely though)You have my condolences Tokyo Ghoul fans.

Tokyo Ghoul probably won't get more than two cour. I doubt it will air during the day, or during a time slot that would allow more than two cour. Pierrot probably would not do anything as stupid as try and clean up a horror manga to air during weekday afternoons. Pierrot has no stake in the contemporary anime market. They stubbornly keep producing after club time anime for middle school boys. Tokyo Ghoul would be a good title to break them into the primary anime market. It's not that Pierrot has not had any success with late night anime, they haven't even been trying.Well at least Pierrot implies that it may be more than simply 12 or even 24 episodes, potentially. For one thing, that was a short. Not a series. Sort of like how one might be able to do one sit up magnificently, doing thirteen (or twenty six) of them takes a lot more effort. My point is there's a lot more that goes into making a series based on existing material. Secondly, the brand 'Pierrot' does not inspire confidence. I can't really recall anything they've done in the past decade that would make me think 'Man they sure picked the right company for this'. Third while the director has a lot to do with execution of the story, they don't really have too much to do with the art. Art is basically all anime has over other mediums (including other animation.) So even if it's executed well, if it looks terrible that won't matter which brings me back to number 2.The director was nominated for this years Best Animated Short Oscar.

The Pierrot brand does not inspire confidence, but having an Academy Award nominated director does provide some hope. A Japanese playwright named Chuuji Mikasano will be writing the script. It's an interesting staff, no matter how the anime turns out. The problem with Pierrot is their association with anime aimed at middle school and early teen audiences. Anime intended for 11 - 15 year old viewers typically has less detailed, complex animation than shows marketed towards older viewers. The same can be said for American TV animation aimed at the same demographic, the type of shows that air after school and into early evening on Nick or Cartoon Network. The market Pierrot works in is rapidly closing. The number of week day after school and early evening anime time slots is closing, while the amount of anime airing on weekends and after 10pm continues to increase. Many of the most famous day time series have either moved to the weekend (Conan) or ended (Bleach). Most of what is left are kids shows, like Pokemon or Cardfight. I don't watch Kingdom, but it seems to be highly regarded. I have a feeling Tokyo Ghoul will be marketed more towards adults. They may even give it enough of a budget for some decent animation. Even if the animation isn't great, I am not anticipating something like Bleach or Naruto. For one thing, that was a short. Not a series. I want to have hope but....Pierrot. 'Clown'. Never a more deserving name for a company ever I think.
The Kingdom manga is highly regarded. The anime has been panned by pretty much everybody for being notoriously terrible. Well it's not terrible just weird. The fact being they used 3D animation for the show. The Kingdom manga is highly regarded. The anime has been panned by pretty much everybody for being notoriously terrible. Similar to the Magi anime.

Yeah, I heard they made a lot of changes and upped the production values for Season 2.Season 2 of Kingdom is amazing and the music and storyline is pretty suspenseful.
Did they used a lot of 3D animation for battle sequences and panoramic shots? Things like that are becoming more and more common. The anime of Arpeggio was filmed almost entirely in 3D. In Love Live, Sunrise used 3D for portions of the preference sequences, especially wide angle shots of the entire group. The rest of the anime and close ups during preferences were more traditionally animatedWell it's not terrible just weird. The fact being they used 3D animation for the show.
Again I just have trouble looking past Pierrot's pedigree. Could this be the anime that changes their image and launches them into the stratosphere of success and building their rep? Perhaps it could. I'm not at all denying that. It's just chances are really high that it will be the opposite of those things I just said. It's sorta like how one might give an employee a certain job over and over again because they've proven that's the best they can do. Chances are that if you throw them a screwball that they're going to screw it up even with help. Of course an award nominated director and writer with some pedigree do make it intriguing, and I do hope for the best. I just can't help but be overwhelmingly disappointed that Pierrot got this, and IMO is a pretty shaky introduction to the anime. On the brighter side, at least even if it is horrible it'll boost manga sales and give the source material more attention....hopefully.The Pierrot brand does not inspire confidence, but having an Academy Award nominated director does provide some hope. Wait seriously?! A season 3 would be phenomenal news. IM ten episodes behind but not a manga reader so had no clue if we were close to current material or not. They mostly only over-used CG in the beginning of season 1. And even so, it wasn't as bad as a lot of people seem to say.
Some of it's required for all the background animation and such because so much is on-screen. There's barely any of the main characters in season 2 though. Which genuinely has some spectacular animation. A lot of good lighting and music and a lot of things.
By the way, from the way the 2nd season is ending it looks like they're prepping for a 3rd season. It's at the very least going to end on a cliffhanger. The last episode comes out next week, maybe they'll announce something.
It really isn't close to the manga (there is still one big arc which didn't become an anime), but I think it is good idea to take break for a while.IM ten episodes behind but not a manga reader so had no clue if we were close to current material or not.
