Damn, so it was actually axed then. Even if the story was random af and unpredictable, theres no way it should end this soon. Guess its poor performance on the surface was true in general.

It was selling way to bad for a young jump manga. So its normal. The art was the only good thing. The story was your average manga trash.

J.C Staff is producing the 2nd season of OPM.
New director is Chikara Sakurai (Majimoji Rurumo, animation director on Naruto movies)
Sound director is Yoshikazu Iwanami (Ajin, Baccano!, Berserk 2016, Erased, Deadman Wonderland, Dive!, Fate/UBW + Zero, Flying Witch, Girls und Panzer, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Kara no Kyoukai, Kill la Kill, Psycho-Pass, WIXOSS, Knights of Sidonia, Sword Art Online, Youjo Senki, etc) - Basically quite the top-tier guy, exception being Berserk.
All staff is the same from last season besides that.

Wonder if Bones was asked to do it but couldn't. But with this and Index 3, studio's got a lot to live up to.
Natsume Shingo, director of S1 probably couldn't do it since he's probably very busy right now.

I really liked the first chapter of Uratarou, but by seeing the comments here I think I will pass. I thought that I was taking too long to pick it up given to my reading queue, but it was good in the end.

I really like it but its not Nakayama's style of manga I am happy it ended, I wish him the best of luck on his next manga.

Interesting to see the change, but Madhouse themselves had very little to do with S1 anyway, so as long as there are returning staff it shouldnt be an issue.

After reading the last chapter, i can think on two things:

1 - Ishida will end the manga because he is tired and want to play Nier Automata

2 - Part 3 is coming in three months, but Shueisha won't talk about it, fans will go crazy again, one week before the chapter is released, Shueisha reveal that Tokyo Ghoul Part 3 is coming.

Of course there will be a Tokyo Ghoul sequel.

I am way more interested in what happens to Nakayama Atsushi now. Was Uratarou too ambitious of a project for both the creator and the editors? It recieved heavy promotion which didn't pay off much. It set up an elaborate narrative which didn't properly develop. But it ws never boring. It's frantic, over-excited pacing, having the story bounce off from plotpoint to plotpoint was quite the spectacle to experience. However, at the same time it was probably it's main fault since no character or event stuck long enough to charm the audience.

Anyway, this serialization was quite the experiment, and the art has shown Nakayama grow as an artist even beyond the impact and detail of Nejimaki Kagyuu. Hopefully, in time he recovers and returns with another work.

I feel like Uratarou wasn't something he would write, like he force himself to write it even though he has a gore fetish, I think something went wrong or there was a dispute of some kind because it was pushed and sold more than NK but ended abruptly. The Japanese on twitter mention something about censorship and how shueisha wanted the series to be a complete tragedy instead a manga about hope.

And Knowing Young Jump with TG, Ishida doesn't want Tokyo ghoul to end in tragedy but The company is pushing it really hard Ishida must feel bad.

Even if it ends it'll start again with Part 3. There's plot points to fill 15 more volumes, so it's okay.
Anime reboot with new studio would be great, not gonna lie.
