Maybe is only my impression but don't you think watanuki have lost a little of his charakter since he becomed the owner
And how can he make his job witout exit the shop area if it keep going on the storyline is gonna become boring
Not to mention he don't have any special powers like the previous owner

Greetings.

Watanuki may not have a lot of "special powers" but at least, he can still meet the spirits in his dream, remember?

I agree with you that Watanuki seems to be a little out of his character, perhaps it is the "side effect" of four years spent in the shop... just go with the flow and let things come to him, instead of chasing after things. He is still the same Watanuki, but all his friends are helping him all along even he cannot leave the "cage".

Watanuki now understands more on how to grant wishes... persistent is not the same as stubbornness. Making an effort is one thing, making the "right" effort is far more important.

Yuuko won't leave the shop to Watanuki if he is not capable to handle the place. True that yuuko had strong special powers though wata seems to inherit the shop probably a bit early so let's wait that we might see something surprising about him...(as I expect from clamp)

Butterflies... maybe FWR?

What we know is that he was one of Yuuko's costumers, since the plectrum wass there and that he seems to be dead or have disappeared or some sort of event like that.

so sad that yuko is gone now, watanuki is doing a great job so far. He has already granted the wishes of two clients ! Something occured to me. Watanuki is really intending to wait until time and space resolves itself back to when yuko will re-appear. That friggin crazy!

Who was that man that appeared during the dream-like scene when the wish was fulfilled?

Maybe he was someone who is very dear to the shamisen player.
The butterfly might symbolize a spirit of a departed person.

But definitely that guy was mysterious, it would be much better if he is more than just an ordinary customer in the shop..

The man is the Plectrum with a butterfly that crumbles, not an actual person, or I believe. This story was about a shamisen's and plectrum's love affair.

is there anybody who as been a bit deceived by xxxholic lately ?. I mean we had a long arc with the cooking lady where little happened for the lenght of that part.

Then we had the "Day that must come" so hyped throughout xxxholic by Yuuko, but in the end what was it ? The day she would die and pass the shop to watanuki. Don't get me wrong that turn of even is good and I have nothing against it, but for something that has been so much hyped, I was hoping for something bigger than just Watanuki seeing Yuuko getting eaten by random darkness. Then he make the STUPID decision of waiting for Yuuko, which bassically go against everything that Yuuko wanted, since she told him to keep on living.

Then the shamisen arc begin and we still don't really know where it heading.

Oh and the man that we saw when the shamisen broke. I believe it what the shamise, thaking the form of Doumeki in a dream. Watanuki said that people take certain form in their dream in order to be understood.

I mean, I'm sure that there are reasons behind all that and it may be great when we will get them, but I wish we could get them faster. xxxholic just develop at such a SLOW speed.

I still think that Shaoran (tsubasa, whateva his name is) still has a huge part to play in this story. We also have Doumeki and the egg mystery to be revealed. And doesn't anyone else think it strange that we have yet to see Himawari?

I think it'll be like this (nothing really "big" will happen) until the Tsubasa group makes its appearance at the shop (I think they will go there someday since they're still traveling through worlds). But I have no idea of what could happen after that.

Nothing about Himawari yet? How weird!

I'm not sure that the "Day that must come" and the reason why the the shop was created, "for that day" are the same. If not, the former would be when Yuuko disappeared & Watanuki inherited the shop. The latter would still be coming up; perhaps it is for when the egg is used. The shop/storeroom itself is important - I wouldn't be surprised if it still has a significant role to play. In fact, I'd be somewhat disappointed if it didn't.

On a side note, what do you think would happen if the shop didn't have an owner? There's a lot of powerful, magical items in it.

It is significant that the man's face wasn't shown in the vision that Watanuki saw when the plectrum struck the shamisen. In T.R. Chronicle, Shaoran's parent's faces were not shown in the picture ... because they changed & because it would have spoiled the climax of the plot. So I think it is someone we know. Watanuki also seemed surprised when he saw the man. Did he recognize the person? Is it himself?

I think that Shaoran/Tsubasa and crew are showing up next because Mokona said that they needed sake for 6 (though Watanuki took it for multiplying): Watanuki, Mokona, Doumeki, Shaoran/Tsubasa, Fai, & Kurogane. So...they're coming and Doumeki will be there with the egg. I think that the egg is for Shaoran/Tsubasa & crew...that what is born of it may perhaps be the solution that Shaoran/Tsubasa is looking for that will also release Watanuki. Because they are the same & Doumeki said he couldn't use the egg for Watanuki.

Personally, I like the shamisen arc. :-) It's interesting to see Watanuki at work as the shop owner. I also like that he has changed because that's a big theme in xxxHolic, that people meet and change comes from that meeting.

xxxHolic has been really dissapointing for a while now. It doesn't seem to know where it's going.

The only thing i have liked is how in the latest chapter Mokona mentioned how Watanuki grants wishes but either takes too much or too little and that it hurts him. It's interesting that he is having to get used to operating the shop. But other than that....I find everything really uninteresting.

New xxxHolic-Rou OAD

Yeah!! there's a new OAD comin out!
this time, it's a OAD of xxxHolic-Rou! check out the website here http://kc.kodansha.co.jp/tsubaholi/

The new OAD will be released with Volume 17, on April 23rd the next year.
It will be a unique 40 min presentation which will have a door closed pre-premiere among those who book the new volume until Feb 8th, 2010. It'll also feature special illustrations. Nanase Ohkawa will write the script and CLAMP will also illustrate the DVD cover.

Isnt this amazing??? I love it! I just hope that CLAMP decide to animate the Clow Arc from TRC too.

I'm glad that some resolution came to the shamisen story. I am not entirely certain whether or not there was any special significance from Watanuki's conversation with the shamisen owner in the beginning of the chapter. It certainly feels like something important was said between them, but I couldn't pinpoint it. Anyone have any ideas on that matter?

We at least get to find out later from Mokona a little about Watanuki's current situation. Apparently he is not demanding enough (or sometimes too much, but Watanuki seems like the type who would more likely ask less), and this is having adverse effects on him. Do you think the broken plectrum was enough of a price? Watanuki seems to think so, but the reaction from Mokona makes me think it might be too little.

It was also nice to gets some updates on the Tsubasa travelers. We can probably expect them to reenter the story (if only for a little while) in the future (perhaps after the next couple of story arcs). So, they are currently in Piffle. I wonder what brings them there. Any thoughts on that? I can't really think of a good reason for them to return to that world beyond that they are just visiting places on their journey, but there might be some significance from them being mentioned as being there.
