Akainu referred to wano's samurai as an unknown. For the most par there hasn't been official contact between the marines and wano samurai in potentially hundreds of years... It doesn't look like wano has THAT powerful an army though. Strong by individual nation standards apparently but not so much that they can face a yonko's crew. At least going by how kaido threatened them considering that 5k mimawarigumi and 5k oniwabanshu were at onigashima and kaido could have presumably ended them.

I mean, if there are any other samurai on a similar level to the scabbards, and we take into account that the scabbards are technicaly part of Wano's army, that's a very strong army after they were shown to be able to pierce Kaido's body.
That's much stronger than Dressrosa's or Arabasta's armies.

The official army is by all appearances the mimawarigumi and oniwabanshu though... I am not sure a daimyo's retainers would be considered a part of that. And even then, my point was more about how akainu regarded wano as an unknown. The marines had zero intel on wano's military might.

doubt it. Zoro still managed to be in second rank even when he's absent during the whole WCI arc
oda definitely prepares something for zoro in the onigashima raid. And the following arc after this will be a road to his final fight to become WSM.
I won't even be surprised if zoro becomes the first rank after this arc

Nah, might be going down or stays same position as given what Oda preparing Luffy to do this arc, fanbase will go wild for him more as Official Polls as they truly love Luffy most of all.

Is there any evidence of him being descended from Wano? We know his teacher was, but Zoro isn't shown to be from there.

Not only his teacher, the whole village he grew in was called Shimotsuki Village and it's been confirmed to have been founded by emigrants not that many decades before the story began. There was also the thing about the "Wano battlecry" Zoro used to hear from his elders (in plural, other than just his teacher).

Not much is known about who exactly Zoro's parents are, which is why I expect to learn more about him sooner or later. I felt like we knew enough about him before, just like I thought we knew enough about Sanji's past before, with the Zeff backstory, but after I saw how much depth Sanji's character won by having his real origin revealed, I want to know more about Zoro's. Why was he an orphan in that village of Wano emigrants? Why did he become obsessed with strength and swords (even before his promise to Kuina)?

I think there won't be a better arc for these answers since they're directly tied to Wano. I don't mind if the answer is short and it comes after all the fights, as long as we get something.

Just watched some anime clips of Zoro and Hiyori... and we know the anime is adding extra stuff/effects (which I believe are canon?) anyways Zoro x Hiyori seems very much on the cards. Hiyori had that lust going, lmao.

And this comes after my last Wano re-read where I felt they would not hook up.

Doubtful as see Zoro X Tashigi truly given she is only woman to get a react on Zoro more than Hiyori. Seems it's just like 'Princess' role thing going on as before like with Luffy and Sanji prior. Though depends as how Zoro sees her later, but looks more one-sided thing if we try to push affection as Zoro shown not much on his end to her unlike he does when Tashigi around.
