Kanban Musume wa Sashiosae
Summary and Preview
Sashio Sae is a first grader that clerks at her father's pawnshop for 50 yen a day. Because the hiragana of her name can be read as "Collateral," the red nametag she wears while working often leads customers to suspect her family of human trafficking.
One day, after Sae asks her parents whether she can have an older sister, a man in a great deal of debt brings in a family heirloom as collateral for a loan -- a clotheschest from the Edo period, haunted by the ghost of a ten-year-old girl named Toyo. After popping out of the box and exchanging introductions with Sae and her father, Toyo decides to start working as a temporary employee.
This is a 4-koma slice-of-life comedy about Sae and Toyo's life at the pawnshop.
Note - Toyo wears the "Sashiosae" nametag too, but in her case, it's because she's actually collateral.
