Well, it´s not like Inoue ever cared about pacing.
We´re talking about a guy who can name a chapter "The Spider", and then make a 20 pages chapter in which Musashi...stares at a spider.

But then, in retrospect, you're right... When you read it in tanks, it's awsome...

sigh... I don't know... I mean I hate to follow Bleach and Naruto in WSJ also, but they feel a lot better in tanks. It's actually what I did in some instances, to quite the series for several month, and pick it up with the tanks all at onces.

I guess taking out the waiting makes a lot series better?

(Though, I still hated Shaman King as well as Yugioh toward the end, tank or no tank )

Jump Comics, sales 4/27 - 5/3

Like last month everything came out mid tracking period, so sales look a little down. Things will even out next week:

1. Naruto #46 (504,024 copies)

6. Toriko #4 (83,216)

Toriko, like Mago last month, did not rise as much as I had hoped. I suspect it will have sold around 140,000 at the end of next week. For both series, I had been hoping for them to be closer to 200,000 the first week for volume 4. So it goes, both are still doing quite well for new series. Bakuman remains the best seller of the 2008 class.

Toriko 4 selling less than ToLoveRu 13 (last month's) in the first 3 day? That's definitely NOT what I was expecting...

Also, Gintama character book is selling surprisingly well.

Jump character/profile books seem to do very well. While I have no desire to pour through Oricon for sales figures, D. Gray Man and Naruto's both made the top ten last year.

I'm giving Toriko a break on sales. Considering this is only volume 4 it is selling quite well. Maybe being in the top three every week has thrown our perspective off, but Toriko's off to a good start. The reality is that it and Mago are still new, up and coming series, with plenty of room to grow. Maybe it's the fact that their sales are so close, but both series have become attached in my head. And both are quite a ways ahead of Sket and Psyren, at least in sales.

I agree on Toriko and Mago having pretty good sales for new series. If I remember right, One Piece and Naruto hadn't become the juggernauts they currently are that early into their respective series either. (Though I could be wrong).

If only Psyren and Sket would sell more tanks. =/

I still think Psyren will eventually get an anime. It just seems like a series they can market. It'd make a fun video game (Or little big planet level *coughgotomyyoutubeaccountcough*) =]

Dragon Quest IX comes out in July, so we're probably waiting until this fall.

Erm... no... They're both tracked for 3 days compare to last month's data. So looking at last month's and this month's is a fair comparison.

Goes back to the old joke that Togashi takes long breaks because he likes to stay at home and play video games. And everyone knows that when a new Dragon Quest comes out, everyone in Japan takes an extended vacation (including, rumor has it, the emperor).

2ch has been saying it'll continue in June, in which case there would be an announcement any day now. But it's mostly just because a couple anonymous guys just said "Reserialization in June". And some others say "it's possible".

As long as HxH is just switching with DGM and not killing something else I'm fine with it returning.

Hoop Men still has to protect other series during the next cut.

But, these are a different batch of series compared to those which came out last month. Yeah, you can compare them to those series, but it's difficult to judge how the series are doing relative to their previous volumes until we get second week data. There's also the fact that some series sell as more of a slow burn than others. It's difficult to make a comparison based on just 3 days of data.
