Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

okay, I highly doubt that is from any valid source, especially since the second part talks about OP, Naruto, Bleach being dangerous for cancellation this year.

I mean, why would WSJ consider canceling their three biggest series and transfer its fourth/fifth best seller to SQ when there's no problem like it was in DGM?????

they do claim its just a rumor, but its not even convincing.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

New to this website, so, hola everyone!

question that i've been fretting over all week: what date does the next issue of Jump Square come out? I'm a total fantard of DGM and i'm tweaked out over this new chapter. So, can anyone help me out here?

oh, annnnnd, what are some good series (anime or manga) that you suggest? lately, all the ones i've chosen have been pretty lame, so i'm asking around. thanks you.

Jump SQ comes out monthly. The next issue, the April Issue, comes out March 4th.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

@Voltairey: Hi there! Let me just say "Yay!" to see a fan of DGM coming to this site. :D Anyway, Jaymie's got the dates covered so I'll drop some recommendations for other series in SQ (gotta be on topic afterall).

Tegami Bachi is one of the best SQ has to offer; it's a heartwarming story littered with comedy, mystery and a bit of action. It has a more innocent feel than DGM but gave me a somewhat similiar vibe.

Ao no Exorcist is a decent read which has pretty good art. It may have a few things in common with DGM (e.g exorcists) but it's definitely different stuff. The last one on the list I'd recommend would be Claymore, but only if you don't mind the dominant action genre...

Hope that all made sense somehow and that you'll enjoy them!(?)

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

I'm wondering, does anyone know how Inada Kouji is doing? He was in hiatus since 2006 because of his illness, but it already being about 3 and half a years now. So, I want to know what is his illness, how serious was it, and does he got better. (Since, Monthly Shonen Jump is gone, so it most likely to re-serialize in Jump Square.)

It's mysterious. I've heard rumors, like cancer and whatnot, but nothing has ever been confirmed.

I found out that Shiki animation going to air on July of this year. Also, GACKT (a singer) will be first time to participate as regular voice actor on this animation. He'll be playing Kirishiki Seishirou.

Last I heard is that he gained another hand injury (following... I think it was losing his middle finger's nail or something?), so it's possible that Inada is having to rehabilitate his drawing ability. or worse, can't recover it. these things can happen.

But then that's just the more positive possibility over cancer and whatnot.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

Love April's choice of colors.

Nice to see Mayoi Neko and Dr. Rurru in color for May but boo @ Shin Prince of Garbage. Hopefully it doesn't get anything else for the next few months. After Summer time would be great but probably unrealistic. >.>

I'm surprised there is another Tegami Bachi anime in the works already.

Is Tegami Bachi unpopular or did the anime go though too much of the manga and is caching up too fast?

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

Tegami Bachi is one of Jump SQ best titles now. It sells about 100,000 volumes in 2 weeks. I would say right behind Shin PoT, Claymore, and DGM in terms of sales. The anime is also selling well, it's not a surprise to me since the current anime is very slow with the canon material and added lots of fillers. A 2nd season can fill all the holes in the story.

Prince of Tennis having color pages and being on the cover makes me happy. It's been too long since the last set of color pages for the series.

I was surprised because I forgot how many episodes were initially announced. I was thinking it was originally 52 or something but apparently it was just 26 and the anime is approaching that number in the next month or two.

I just had to re-check all of that.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

Yay, another Tegami Bachi season! I really like the first season, even if it has shoddy CGI and is pretty slow at times.

I hope D.Gray-Man's current status as one of Jump SQ's frontrunners helps its chances at another season. To this day, I am still bothered with how they ended the Anime. They could have done it Inuyasha style, ending with at least something resolved, but instead they ended it right when a bunch of new information was revealed.

I'm kind of surprised there are lots of animated adaptation for Jump Square series this year; Tegami bachi going to have its 2nd season, Mayoi Neko's anime adaptation going to aired at April, Shiki's anime adaptation going to aired at July, and Kure-nai's OVA going to release at July, too.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

Kure-nai and Mayoi Neko don't really count. Both are light novels published by Shueisha. The manga are tie ins to promote the upcoming anime. Kind of the way Haruhi Suzumiya is not a Shonen Ace anime and Toradora is not a Dengeki Daioh anime. The anime of Kure-nai follows the novels plot, nothing from the manga was animated. At least in the first season.

I think you're right about Mayoi Neko, but I think Kure-nai's OVA counts because it was announced in Jump SQ official website. There going to be manga-based story and OVA original story.

Re: Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Mag by Shueisha)

Mayoi Neko taking the cover in June. I look forward to that. As well as the color this issue since I like Yabuki's art in general. I am hoping Dr. Rurru will deliver as well.

Serializing a one shot from 10 years ago and that was in WSJ? This is going to set an interesting precedent.

No Shin Prince of Garbage in the June issue is a pleasure to see.
