This was a good episode. though of course it has the glaring issue of kite not being anywhere here.

well here's a spin on it I thought up:

Lets be honest here, aside from the begining of the manga what does kite acctually do? show up in a flash back or two? thats it. yet why is it we cared about what happened to him and gon in the chimera ant arc? because he knew gon. Now If gon just met kite, that'd be totally f***ed up, but if we get the flashback then we'll still know what kite means to gon and even better yet its fresh in everyone's minds. The only thing I have a issue with now about this ordeal is the lack of Konsince that does intertwine with Kite, but oh well, we'll see what happens. The way I see it, the only way they can screw this up is by having Gon JUST meet Kite then and not having known him.

I knew Ging's VA sounded familiar.

Gon and Killua were absolutely freaking adorable this week. I'm not a Gon x Killua supporter, but I fangirled hardcore during their conversation. Dem facial expressions.

And total goosebumps when hearing Ging's voice at the end of the episode before it cut into the ending theme.

I'm very impressed with Madhouse's animated stills of Ging. I especially like the one where Mito-san's looking at his back and he's saying he's leaving the island, and when he's finding her under the tree roots by the sea.

No Kite this week. Maybe next week? One can only hope. At this point, I'm of the attitude that as long as there is a Kite flashback before Chimera Ant arc, it should be fine as far as the overall story goes. I just want to see Kite, darn it.

Love love love the episode this week. It was cute without coming across as shippy between Gon and Killua, which is nice. I guess I just really like fluff moments in general. Madhouse, props to you guys. There really wasn't a scene that I could complain about.

I love how Madhouse adds these little things in the beginning that shows us Killua's presence as a visitor (albeit a welcome visitor at that). The interactions were handled well. Young Mito and young Ging were adorable too, for the sparse scenes and pictures they were shown together. And I like how Madhouse shows Mito nagging, but not in an annoying way. Mito is the best freakin' mom ever. She never forgets to do the laundry.

And then the episode stops at the moment they play the cassette. Honestly, if I was watching HxH for the first time, I'd be frustrated with the cliffhanger. It's really intriguing imo. The Whale Island version of Huntyclopedia was cute too. Didn't think Madhouse would do that.

No Kite this episode, though I didn't really expect it. Hm... Wonder if there's a Goodbye Whale Island episode? I think it would be neat.

Y'know, I just realized today that I never skip the opening and ending themes. Even when I had to refresh the page because the internet was slow, I never skip the OP even when I've already wasted my time watching it earlier. Do you guys ever skip those when you watch HxH?

So they actually are doing chap 64+69 next episode... Well, that's to be expected. There is another problem though. After chap 69 they leave Whale Island behind the scenes, and the next episode doesn't have space for both Kaito flashback and Whale Island farewell filler =( I don't want them to leave it behind the scenes as in manga =O The best choise still would be to introduce Kaito and Kon this episode and make a goodbye filler the next one... Another way is to start episode 39 (or, if it is a recap, then episode 40) with Kaito fb and farewell filler with the second part being the Flesh Collector's Mansion story. I don't think that would be too much for an episode as the Flesh Collecor's Mansion is only 32 pages and those pages are kinda short in terms of storytelling; there is more of action - remember the whole chap 61 being only about 5 minutes of an episode. Even if there is no Kaito/Kon, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't make a whole Kurapica episode and add more of Gon/Killua. To say more, I'm pretty sure there won't be a single episode without either Gon or Killua in the whole HxH 2011 (Genei Ryodan vs Chimera Ants is only questioned part)

I agree.Remember they said anime will be darker for York Shin arc? They certainly don't want to show Kurapika in the mansion with actual settings.So it should be:

38:66+69.
39(Start of York Shin arc and new design for the anime):67+68.
40:70+71.

Flawless ep. Can really find no fault with it except NO KITE!!! Dammit I really want to see him so bad but doubt we will now . I mean does Gon even have his father's license in this version? Oh damn I love this anime so much but the Kite appearance is gonna keep bugging me >.>

my hunch Kaito episode will be intro episode for Season 2 ( ep 01 -after long hiatus anime break) then episode 2 they reach the place where they thought Kaito is Ging (end of GI)... Just like they did in NnM season 2...
after first 50 episodes anime break is expected coz they announce a movie.... that will be in between... se01 and se02...

That is a bit too much I think. 4 chaps for an episode. And I don't think reordering the events would make any good. Like moving every Gon/Killua part to ep 39... Meh.
