uhmmmkay, so lets see, lets begin with the easiest parts, updating of the existing roles.
Is that clear enough? With that contact thing I mean, that if there are other members, that are inactive during the night, like strongman for instance, and the team decides to use him that night, that the boss can call him out to do the kill, without him actually being present. That's different with for instance, the assassin, thus the explicit mentioning of 'activity at night'.
sth like that?

Time Bomb Option 1: The host decides before the game starts the night by which the Time Bomb must explode, of which the player is informed. The player can choose to explode any Night Phase, not including the first Night Phase, up to and including the Night Phase that the Time Bomb is required to explode by. The night it shall explode, it can target any other player and blow him up. If the Time Bomb is killed before the time limit is passed, it does not explode.
I always thought that if someone+the boss aren't around, other people could decide among them all who would perform the killing xD So if the boss is the inactive one, the others can decide among themselves (active only) who's performing the killing, right? Maybe, just so that "usually" wouldn't confuse people, the description should say (somehow) that in the boss absense others can coordinate the mafia night activity.
So, I assume you were thinking something like this?
- Shinigami [Mafia]:
The first time that the Shinigami dies, he can resurrect himself the next Day/Night Phase by stealing the soul of a deceased player; however, if the Shinigami is the first player to die, there are no souls to steal to resurrect himself with, and thus the Shinigami is unable to continue to play.
There's also another possible idea:
- Life-Stealer [Mafia]:
The first time that the Life-Stealer dies, he can resurrect himself the next Day/Night Phase by stealing the soul of a deceased player; however, if the Life-Stealer is the first player to die, there are no souls to steal to resurrect himself with, and thus the Life-Stealer is unable to continue to play. When the Life-Stealer is resurrected, he randomly gains the role and ability of a dead player by the host using an RNG to select a dead player. Whatever the role of the dead player, the Life-Stealer becomes that role. So, if a Townie was chosen, he would join the Townies, Third-Party (not the Lover, unless you wanted something like you would then get to choose a Lover, although I think that we're removing the Lover role), or potentially his own Mafia side or another Mafia side.
omg watt, but if the life stealer is reborn as townie, he will know the entire mafia. that cannot work.
but i was thinking, maybe installing some mafia roles that are like bomb like, or something like that. that the last person voting on him will also explode. or an other one, that a player gets a grudge, and cannot vote the next two-three days. something like that? Also, the wolf thing sounds interesting, that after a certain mafia's death, the team can kill twice. so like three new roles bascially.
i dont see how a mafia jesus should work though, like he is lynched and everyone knows he is mafia, so once he is revived he will be lynched instantly again. wont he? or will he be shown as jesus/townie once he dies first? mhhhh
also, how about a mafia member that cannot kill? mafia priest or sth D:

well, thats basically how it was. hosts like to be on the save side though, so you see, i want to get a formulation that states the obvious. complains in cases like, a member hitting the bomb and being out of the game and that all happened without his concent, that can turn into a nightmare, as he naturally would rage and call the whole thing unfair and that they cannot do that sth sth...stating that the boss can is for me an important act, to shift the responsibilities for that towards him heh. on the other hand, other members cannot force the boss to do the killing, in cases of his inactivity. this can be seen as the privilege of the role. what do you think
Yeah, I think that's ok. When the mafia is deciding what to do, the host is also around and can intervene if people have doubts and stuff. I don't see how it would matter, in general, to a townie if the boss was active during the night time or not. So yeah, maybe giving this kind of protection to the boss as a priviledge but also leaving it a bit open for the others to organize themselves when the boss is away, is cool.

That sounds fine. If the boss is absent, what about then? Can the mafia still choose to use someone like the strongman's power without the boss (this assumes that the boss is still alive, just virtually absent like kdowns in the Naruto game)? If the boss is the first mafia member to be lynched, does another mafia member assume his role?

I think that in the past, if one person was absent we would decide without them. For example, we didn't always wait the full 12 hours if one of our members was absent.

The reason that I said that the first night shouldn't be included is that I didn't want circumstances where someone had a grudge against another player and just kills them the first night because the Kamikaze Bomb will die within a few nights anyway. It doesn't always make sense to kill someone the first night as a mafia, so that doesn't always happen. Unlike the Daytime Vigilante who has a one use killing ability and gets confirmed as Townie, the Time Bomb has to sacrifice themselves, as well as being assured of dying. Of course, someone like a Serial Killer can already kill someone they don't like on Night 1 and get away with it, so I suppose that my objection is kind of irrelevant.
It's not an issue, then. The first night should be included.

Oh, I didn't like the idea of a Mafia Jesus-type role in the first place. I was just writing something out as ideas for Greg's idea, not that I believed in them.
Well, in terms of the Life Stealer, I figured that there would have to be some rule that you cannot actively use any new ability against your ex-mafia teammates and you couldn't insinuate in the threads who the mafia were or say that you suspect anyone. Of course, that would be rather hard to moderate, so it's most likely not a realistic situation.
Yeah, that's why I made the Life Stealer option, because if it were revealed that his role was Mafia Jesus, the Townies would just lynch as soon as he was revived. If his role were shown as Jesus/Townie, then people would feel that we were cheating them as a Mafia member would get confirmed as a Townie. This is basically why I don't want a Mafia Jesus.
A Mafia Bomb or that Mafia Dying Wolf role would be perfectly fine. If you created a Mafia Bomb, would there be a Townie Diffuser role, though, like how there's a Mafia Diffuser to counter the Time Bomb [now perhaps Kamikaze Bomb] and, by extension, the normal Bomb? Would a Townie Diffuser also be able to diffuse the Time Bomb/Kamikaze Bomb and the normal Bomb, as well as the Mafia Bomb?
Oh I love the idea of a Townie Diffuser though. Of course he would be able to diffuse all the existing Bombs, if he sees it as a necessity. Would also threaten the status of the regular Bomb role as untouchable.
That in combination with a Mafia Bomb would be quite interesting to see in a game.
A Mafia let's call it 'Priest/Saint' is just a part of the mafia team, who cannot carry out a kill himself though. A role to weaken the Mafia team. Might be of use in certain setups.
The word Priest though is too strong than to use it for such a crap role. Maybe rather for a role that like can recruit a Townie of their choice once per game, who becomes a Mafia Member. What do you think of recruitable mafia members, others than sleepers or traitor?

I don't know how that would work, though. At the end of the day, it would mean that if it the Mafia side were reduced solely to this, as Lala said, "Unskilled Mafia" [perhaps a Mafia Initiate or Neophyte Mafia], the Mafia side could at best tie, because the Unskilled Mafia couldn't kill at night. It feels like a mafia member without a killing role sort of defeats the point of being a mafia member...If you wanted something like, we could have a mafia member who has a 50% success rate at killing or something, so that if he were the last member alive, he could still have a chance to succeed, but wouldn't be powerless like a mafia member without a killing role.
I don't really like the idea of recruiting Townies, because all I think of is the Bleach game where everything went really wrong. Perhaps the ability to steal the role/ability (while still remaining a mafia member) of a Townie of their choice, so like a Mafia Pirate.
I'd imagine it like this:
I still think that it would be problematic and rather odd, but if you want more variety/spice of life/whatever...
Sure, putting a Townie in front of the Townie Bomb Diffuser sounds good.
In terms of the Mafia Bomb, I don't know. I figured that he was a regular Mafia Member, just with the Bomb clause instead of being a plain Mafia or a Mafia member with an ability. Although, if he were diffused, would he lose his ability to kill at night?

While I was out today, Evil, I realized that there are problems with the Mafia Pirate as written.
We don't want a Mafia Jesus, so he can't be allowed to steal the Jesus role. On the other hand, he can obviously steal the Daytime Vigilante role because that's fine. What would happen if he selected a Townie Lover? Would he just steal the Lover's normal role, such as Detective? Also, if he targeted a Mentee, what would happen? Another thing. The ending portion sort of makes it sound (yes, I know that I wrote it myself) that he can only use a night killing ability if he explodes himself.
This Mafia Pirate... wouldn't he be OP with roles like the Vigilante/Cowboy and Noble/Politician? Or even silly, as you mentioned, with Jesus (although that's not that silly since townies have to lynch the dude again, losing a day)?
Probably, Farf. I was just suggesting it as an idea because Evil wanted different roles. I didn't expect he'd just add it immediately...It's probably too problematic to actually work as a role. Although, don't forget that he can't kill at night, except by stealing some one-shot night ability. So, if he were the last Mafia member remaining and the role he stole doesn't allow killing, he's still probably screwed over.
If we limit the roles allowed to be stolen, either the Mafia Pirate immediately knows that certain players have important roles because he can't steal them, or we only give him one chance to steal a role and if he picks a role that can't be stolen, he's effectively a plain Mafia member without the ability to kill.
