Well it was a thursday and I had pretty much 60% of JUMP titles to translate, edit and stuff...
5/20*100≠60%

This series has NO meaning to the magazine... IT sells NOTHING.
Is this a quote by editor-in-chief Heishi Yoshihisa or random internet poster G_I_A?

Route End started on Jump Plus

I'm not saying it's good or bad, but similar to recent editions like Fire Punch and World's End Harem this manga has no reason to be published in an app that is aimed at the shonen demographic

When was the last good Slice of life manga that Jump had. The last one I can remember is Bakuman.
Would having one in the magazine survive or flop nowadays ?
how can anyone forget shokugeki no souma exist?

while I do enjoy Souma I don't consider it a slice of life. I see it more of a "battle" series.

The whole concept of Soma is to become #1 in his school with a side plot of being a better chief then his father. For most if not all of the manga is about him having an Iron Chief like battle with other cooks in the school so that's the bases on me saying its a "battle" series. The concept behind Bakuman is for the two MC to reach #1 in the rankings become popular and get an anime. You see them actually work rather then see them go strait to a competition with the other characters in the series heck half the time you forget they exist.

and? unfortunately describing the premise doesn't counter my point

it's a cooking manga in a mundane setting for ffs

how can it be anything but a slice of life?

He asked when was the last good :^)
what's good is subjective, I was responding to this part "Would having one in the magazine survive or flop nowadays ?"

When in the manga have you seen them tackle something that could emptied Soma's life in anyway other then the lose of a Shokugeki, or for that matter just learn something that's not for the sake of a specific opponent in said Shokugeki, and almost never seen afterwards. Thats the point I'm trying to make a slice of life is a story with realistic situations and dialogue that help grow a character or group of characters, not when they learn something and lose the knowledge as soon as the chapter no longer focuses on that specific point.

what you're trying to say is, you have a standard SoL manga that Soma doesn't live up too

however this only makes it a bad SoL not a manga that belongs another genre

It's not that I have a standard that every SoL needs to live up to it's that as far as what to classify it as. Soma for all intent and purposes feels more battle like then SoL like it's fine if it can be defined as multiple genres, but usually when a story has a certain feel to it its usually classified accordingly.

Doubt it because readers would think its boring. Bakuman, like all of Ohba's works, had an interesting concept that brought people into it. The closest Jump title that I would consider an SOL was Hikaru no Go, outside the Go matches most of the time is dedicated to Hikaru's daily routine and growth along with the rest of the cast and as it goes on the "spiritual" element gets dropped and becomes more of a character drama.

I never thought I could miss Toriko more than I already did and now I'm even more frustrated that this wasn't a thing.
I'd take a Toriko reboot (like a HxH 2011 treatment) over a Toriko space manga continuation any day. It's unfortunate that Toriko doesn't have a lot of fans because of how poor the anime adaptation is which makes anime fans very reluctant to give Toriko a try (even if they give it a try, their opinions are usually influenced by the negative opinions the manga fans have towards adaptation). I'd like to see a reboot and the colossal fights near the end of the series are screaming to be animated. (the environments too)

And why do you think that I "expect" a series to end? And disrespectul? The guy had more than 90 chapters to give us a good story (this is a benefi that the majority of mangaka does not receive) why Hinomaru Zumou should get it? Because you like the series? Give me a break...

This series has NO meaning to the magazine... IT sells NOTHING. The toc positions are soooo random that we don't even care when it gets color pages. And the mangaka is great, he can do better with another manga, why waste time and such skills on something that's is pretty much dead?

That's what you guys don't get it. You're so biased for you love with a certain series that you simply cannot see that the mangaka behind it can do better, can thrill us with something new. And above all, You think he likes to give his soul to draw and people simply not care about it? Don't buying his work? When he knows he is giving his all? To me sir, this is being disrespectul. To keep people doing stuff that will never ever, make them "elevate" themselves.

And yes, the statements are different. But the thing is... You're saying that I'm being "Disrespectul" because I want a certain series to end. But you're making me the "hater" that wants it to end for no reason, and this is not true. Not at all. I want good series, I don't care who writes/draws them. And if "loved" (By a few) series like Hinomaru Zumou have to end for that happens... I couldn't care less. Let them all die.
It's your tone. "I hope Hinomaru Failure dies (and spring weapon right after)" That's like saying, I hope they loses their job. If you are still fixated on that then I don't argue it anymore.

That's your opinion so I don't argue with that anymore. We are not Shuiesha employess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How many series have done that? Chameleon Jail to Slam Dunk, Baoh to JoJo, Zombie Powder to Bleach, Sain Seiya(?), Shokugeki no Soma, World Trigger, MHA, add a couple more I haven't name and they are still small sample size to what you've said.

Same thing as the first one, it's your tone. If you are still fixated on that then I don't argue it anymore.

Slice of life featuring quirky girls is the current identity of Weekly Shonen Sunday.

This magazine? Not so much.

while I do enjoy Souma I don't consider it a slice of life. I see it more of a "battle" series.
In its early days somebody aptly compared Souma to a sports series rather than a pure battle one. It had very similar structure made of matches and training camps and a single uniting discipline - in this case, cooking. I think that comparison remained true for a while - until Azami, that is.

heck half the time you forget they exist
Really? I think the rivalry with Niizuma and Hiramaru antics were a part of the whole appeal. Other authors helped create the lively atmosphere of the magazine editorial - in case of Bakuman, that would be world building well done. Sometimes there were even more than enough of them - like in cases of Nakai or dog boy Shiratori.

He could have it ended anytime... But WOW he CHOSE to end EXACTLY when not 1, not 2 or 3 or 4 or 5... but 6. SIX, new series are starting...

Come on... It's dead canceled. Random positions on toc, no real fandom, no sales whatsoever... Why JUMP would give him the benefit of ending his series at that point when they clearly did not do the same with Toriko, Bleach and many others successfull series that WERE CANCELED.
Toriko/Bleach/Nisekoi never ended b/c of poor sales. IMO Jump wanted to end a lot of the old series to bring something new and fresh to the magazine. Gintama is going to end pretty soon.

HZ could probably get an anime and the sales are okay for that series. I hope it gets a natural ending. It was pretty heartwarming reading his author comments...about his new daughter and giving him motivation to work harder. And you want cancellation?

It's their livelihood and their source of income. I'm not saying he should stay forever in the magazine since I think he didn't earn that right but his series was doing well in the magazine.

An internert poster, obviously. The same values to your argument. And I don't do only 5 series... These one are for my Manga Editor... I help other ones, so don't talk what you don't know.

It's your tone. "I hope Hinomaru Failure dies (and spring weapon right after)" That's like saying, I hope they loses their job. If you are still fixated on that then I don't argue it anymore.

I repeat. I hope HZ dies. It does not mean I don't want him to come back with something better because that's exactly what I want.

And no. The only one fixated on Zumou not dying is you. Probably because you like the series, not because you feel "sorry" about the mangaka losing his position or wtv.

Toriko/Bleach/Nisekoi never ended b/c of poor sales. IMO Jump wanted to end a lot of the old series to bring something new and fresh to the magazine. Gintama is going to end pretty soon.

It does not matter the reason why they ended... They were ALL canceled (maybe not nisekoi?)... That's the whole point... And no... I don't want him to become unable to provide for his family... I'm not that kind of monster... I want something better from him because I know he's capable of it.

The way you guys are talking you're not defending him... You're just saying: "hey keep doing this manga that will never sell, probably will never become an anime and will never improve at the magazine, just because we like it".

It's also funny that the same people that were defending Mitsutoshi to go for a minor (irrelevant?) magazine to do a gag series (because think they can do better there????), now are unwilling to let HZ go because they are in love with the author/series... You guys don't belive in him?

And please... Define "well in the magazine"...

Toriko was likely cancelled but I personally feel like none of use fully know what went down with Bleach

If you could what would be one thing in any of the series you like, that is currently running in the magazine, would you change and why would you change it?

For me MHA, and I know I'm opening up a lot of hate for saying this, but I think it would've been cool to see Deku stay quirkless but still be chosen by All Might as the successor as symbol of Peace. Also All Mights Quirk couldn't be passed on, but he would still become powerless later on.
