Mag Talk Weekly Shonen Jump [2017] - Discussion and TOC Talk

Has a colour page been placed as low as Boruto in this TOC when the series is not ending? It almost defeats the purpose of the colour page as its pretty much at the end. Heroaca also got a colour page instead of a cover for its volume release and anime climax promotion. I would have thought they would give it a cover but this is fine too. This should honestly help kick Horikoshi back into high gear as getting this low placement with the anime airing is not really a good sign. Stone and Robo, despite their content, have to be doing something right if they're able to get high placements and Stone is apparently popular with the younger readers and seems poised to continue into exciting developments. One Piece is also getting ready to enter into some hype content so Heroaca needs to also regroup and run if it wants to stay in the top.

In other new: IS THIS THE BEGINNING OF HUNGRY MARIE'S SALVATION? Give it a few weeks and it'll overtake Dr Stone. Mark my words.

Whelp if you ignore the obvious shilling for Dr. Stone and Saiki its pretty much as expected.

It's good to see Saiki and WLN in good positions.
Now just wait for Hungry Marie and Cross Account to be canceled and the new series to debut.
I still hope World Trigger comes back from the hiatus along with the new series.

Color pages are decided months ahead of time so the artist can prepare, it has more to do with the fact that it's needed to promote the latest volume release than the TOC also color pages don't really effect anything this chapter was also a short one but it did better than the last.

Like about 8 weeks? Hungry Marie got a color cover-up too.

Haikyuu didn't rank well during its second and third season and of course there's the consistent bottom dweller Gintama which continued its reign even during the anime's peak. Hell Saiki is doing better now than it ever did during its anime run.

Even if Stone and Robo's placements are an editorial push, I think Nakano is doing good changing up the TOC to keep the magazine "fresh". Heroaca should easily be able to recover its top placements as the chapters following the Kirishima flashback are nonstop action and also include Toga and Twice. In addition, as fortune would strike, Issue 42 is released on the 16th which is also the day a new Heroaca episode is aired. There's a colour page and a new episode on the same day.

Never heard about a Hinomaru poll being announced.
One of the Kimetsu chapters said the poll would close by May 29th. Don't know what's going on with that.

Sensei no Bulge wasn't that bad to be sure but it came across as boiler plate compared to his previous work.

Also the TOC seems kinda odd.

MHA and Haikyuu's position in particular.

These two are currently Jump's most popular manga following One Piece, so its rather strange to see them rank as low as they did.

Haikyuu is always all over the place. The only ranks out of place are Hero Academia's and Saiki's. Literally, if you switch their places, it would be your normal weekly rankings.

And I dont remember that she even got her own chapter yet. I mean, it's ncie for her, I also like her, but for her popularity, did Horisohi not so much with her so far. Then you have a character like Shinsou who only dropped 2 positions despite only appearing in 2 panels in between the 1st and 2nd poll. People love their Shinsou.

He is mostly funny, it is not the first perverted who appears in mangas, I don't remember anything that he did that wasn't already done before so I don't know why the annoyance towards him in particular. Unless you hate all perverted, then it will make sense.

since I started talking about Tabata's assistants, he have another assistant working in Jump, he's the guy that wrote the shogi manga in Jump Giga

it was one of 3 miniseries that will get a volume release (Kei Monri's manga will not get a volume, take that as you will)

speaking of which, have they ever reveal when will they actually release Giga volumes?
we know the Jump release schedule until November and no Giga releases were revealed iirc
