You know that action/adventure mangas use formula as much as romance, if not more. I don't know what you are trying to prove.
Guess what I'm trying to get at is I would figure it's simpler to make a romance plot than an action/adventure plot. It's rare you go into a deep, introspective combing of details with romances, mainly cause they don't last long being it's more episodic like EmDee said.

WNL is easily the most consistent of the new series. But that also means if you didnt like it early on, you definitely won't now because its still the same episodic shenanigans (it is a romcom after all) and nothing has really changed. Its your average romcom, nothing special. Characters arent as interesting as Nisekoi or Yuuna if I were to compare it to others.

On the topic of what's harder to write, I honestly don't see how people write episodic stuff. Not only is it less interesting (for me anyway), but its like coming up with an entirely new plot each week to a high quality. Stuff like Saiki and Gintama that hit so many high notes while managing that for so long is incomprehensible to me. Much less Kochikame which is like 3x the lengh of Gintama even.

How do you guys rank the current new series still in?
For me it's

Shoodan (I still think Jump will let it stay around at least another serialization round, shame it's struggling. It's so comfy and charming.)
Robot x Lazerbeam (half a year in and already feels like a hype af pillar)
Hungry Marie (legitimately don't understand the hate)
We Never Learn (suu comfy)
Dr Stone (it's not bad anymore, but I still don't really care about it.)

Haven't 't given Cross Account a try, probably won't, also I really liked U19 and can't wait to see Kimura come back. Hopefully with a stronger MC design tho)

How I'd rank all of Jump I'm reading atm (Gintama on hold till it ends would be like 8, this HxH arc is great and i want it back soon, would be 1, World Trigger would be 11. I'd like to read more SW1 from what I've read I'd put it at 11)
1. Hinomaru. Sumo (anime when?)
2. The Promised Neverland (a lot of faith this will continue to surprise us. Love it. Love the mc i share a name with)
3. Shoodan
4. Yuragi (so fucking good)
5. Robot x Lazerbeam
6. One Piece (Cake Island hasn't been perfect but I've enjoyed it overall, and right now is so hype)
7. Hungry Marie
8. We Never Learn
9. My Hero Academia (can this arc be over pls?)
10. Kimetsu no Yaiba (I really like the series but I don't love it (yet). I feel I very well might in time though. It being lowish here is a testament to how strong the lineup is rn)
11. Haikyuu (might put it on hold, i prefer to binge read this series.)
12. Black Clover (not a trainwreck like it used to be but still nothing really good. It's a fun weekly read at this point that I dont take too seriously, and sometimes am excited to read)
13. Dr. STONE

We Never Learn: It's fun.
Dr. Stone: Meh. I thought it would be a survival story in a post-apocalyptic world, turns out it's just a comedy story.
Shoodan: It will be axed anyway so i dropped it. Plus that shark teeth kid was annoying as hell. I don't remember someone this annoying being in dancing midgets.
Marie: Dropped, too.
Robot: Another drop.
Cross: Dropped in chapter 1.

How do you guys rank the current new series still in?
  1. Shudan! - It's just a cute slice of life. The victories have been nice.
  2. Robot X LASERBEAM - Superpowers aside, Robert is clearly having fun. There's also a subtle thread with the captain. Exceeded expectations.
  3. Dr. Stone - The plot just keeps meandering. Too isekai right now. At least it's funny.
  4. We Never Learn - The latest chapters knock it down quite a bit. (next week's too)
  5. Hungry Marie - Does this even have a plot?
  6. Cross Account - Nothing worth saying.

For new series, I mostly agree with you. Shudan is the best overall, and the rest are all about equal. Dr Stone is probably the best currently, but I can't quite forgive the terrible start that would have got any other series cancelled just yet.

1. Hinomaru (The king and Jump knows it ^_^)
2. TPN (This and Hinomaru are the only things I'm actively excited about each week)
3. OP (The fact it isn't 1st shows this arc has been a bit off).
4. Yaiba
5. MHA (Meh arc, but these last 3 chapters have been some of the best in the series imo).
6. Stone (slooowly getting better. I don't want to rip my teeth out while reading it anymore. Just stay the f*** away from Tsukasa)
7. Yuuna
8. Shudan
9. Marie (Seriously, this isn't that bad...)
10. Gintama
11. RxL
12. WNL
13. Soma
14. HQ (Will probably be a 10/10 once it's adapted as anime, but these long matches are such a slog in the manga)
15. BC (This tournament should have been quite good. How did he screw this up so badly?)

Nothing is particularly bad atm, but there's a whole bunch that isn't any good either. I'd say 6-14 have very little separating their ranks as none are particularly exciting atm. Saiki would be around 7, but since the scans aren't up to date I won't rank it. Also don't read Cross Account or Spring Weapon. If WT was back, it'd go in 2nd, and HxH about 9th.

They all suck, nah but seriously I like Dr Stone and RxL, the rest are severely average and on their way out the door

Beside One Piece, all the new/old series that i'm currently following don't make me go "OMG I CANNOT WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK CHAPTER."

Shokugeki last 10 chapters are predictable as if i'm the author

Nothing really going on in Promised Neverland compare to the first two arcs right now.

Yuragi is yuragi, shenanigans are fun but i think it's time for a new arc. If the author goes one girl every volumes' cover then the next arc should be the Oni Demon. It has been foreshadowing in ages.

Dr Stone is still fun to read but i hate the art

Only read Robot x Laserbeam and We Never Learn just because they are being translated on Viz. No attachment to both series.

Spring Weapon is still funny, 18 chapters read (it's not in English so don't ask me for link).
----------
Couple chapters away from the Hideout Raid arc in MHA but haven't started it lol. Shudan and CC only couple chapters available. I like Shudan but as a sport it is too comfy and doesn't generate HYPE.

So my ranking would be

One Piece
Yuragi
Shokugeki/Neverland
Dr Stone/Spring Weapon
We Never Learn/Robot
The rest

Currently:
-Yuuna/Neverland
-Dr. Stone
On Hold: OP (until WCI finishes), Kimetsu (will resume soon), Shudan! (dunno if I'll come back to it since it might get the axe soon), RxL, Saiki K (scans aren't caught up), Hinomaru, SW No. 1 (no scans), MHA (watching the anime currently)
Dropped: WNL (Boring af, but I sorta spoiled myself on recent chapters, and the series truly lives up to its name)
- Shokugeki (Shame that the writing became boring, will probably pick back up whenever it starts ending)
- Marie (boring characters/where's the actual plot)
- CroAca (Trash MC, would have probably liked it if it wasn't for him)

Yuuna - Still the one thing I look most forward to in the mag. I want a serious arc soon though, to spice things up a whole lot. The art/scenes lately makes me feel that's happening soon though. Kyoto arc had flaws with pacing/art/arc ending stuff, if Miura sorts that out then it'll easily be one of the greatest ecchi harems ever. Vol. 10 content is starting next week, very excited.
Also I want Kogarashi to do the epic punch again. :zomg
Neverland - Been really loving this lately. Emma's character has really improved from the first arc, and the world building is getting much better. The side characters aren't very good though, but they haven't been for the entire series thus far so..yeah. Art is still great.
Dr. Stone - Been enjoying this a lot since the first arc ended. Somehow I've been liking Senku and the others quite a lot even though they're not my favorite character types. Wouldn't want to see the other chars from Arc 1 again unless they improved drastically. Still been liking the art a lot.

I don't like any of the new series.

My rankings for the series that I read:
1. My Hero Academia
2. Hinomaru Zumou
3. The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
4. The Promised Neverland
5. Kimetsu no Yaiba
6. Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san
7. Hunter x Hunter (would be higher, but the hiatuses hurt my investment in the current arc)
8. Gintama (would also be higher, but I'm so bored by the serious arcs at this point)
9. Black Clover

New series:
1) "We Never Learn"
2) Robot x Laserbeam

That's the only ones I'm reading among the new series, the rest I dropped.

Everything I'm reading:
1) One Piece
2) Shokugeki no Soma
3) Haikyuu
4) We Never Learn
5) My Hero Academia
6) Robot x Laserbeam
7) The Promised Neverland

Guess what I'm trying to get at is I would figure it's simpler to make a romance plot than an action/adventure plot. It's rare you go into a deep, introspective combing of details with romances, mainly cause they don't last long being it's more episodic like EmDee said.
As I said, romances are generally full of details, many scenes are more meaningful than the average action/adventure reader can interpret in a single page. I don't consider them episodic per se, but I get to this in a minute, what's important is: how episodic is easier? Once you start a non-episodic series the ideas will start to flow well, the story starts to create itself because it is the logical way things will flow. Episodic, on the other hand, you have to do this every week, create another story and make it interesting, WHILE keeping a logical order in that because the chapters has a connection, still.
Now, romance mangas are generally slice of life, that's why people call it "episodic", but it is not like that, the chapters in a romance has a strong connection among them, they have a clear sequence events that develop the romance between the characters, it cannot be changed without feeling unnatural, it has a balance much more strict than the adventure/action mangas that people clearly said it is easier to change because, honestly, everything is possible.
It looks episodic because it shows daily life activities whiles developing the characters and their relationship, but did you consider your daily life episodic? Different things can happen every day, but it has sequence, it has an objective. In "We Never Learn", for example, Ogata questions about kiss comes a long way, since the episode in the forest, it was developed until last chapter and it will be developed much more. If you treat each chapter as episodic and unimportant, it is obvious that it will be boring to you, you reading the wrong way.

We Never Learn is my favorite series of the new ones since the beginning. The characters are SO funny and interesting in their own way. Furthermore, the comedy really makes me laugh sometimes.

WNL is well constructed, gives the impression that Tsutsui (that's the mangaka's name, right?) know what's he's doing and where he wants to arrive.

Out of the new series:
  1. WNL: the premise works and it's a chill read
  2. Dr. Stone: got better with the new arc
Everything else I dropped or didn't try and probably won't.

Overall:
  1. MHA: really enjoying, guess it might be me but Mirio bores me although his quirk is cool as hell. The stuff regarding him have been on point with the emotions, while the most recent chapter was crazy good, maybe even one of the best in the series
  2. Yuragi: I just can't seem to get bored of the show, but last couple of chapters had some "woah" stuff that I can't believe Jump lets slide
  3. HxH: almost done the anime but really liking this series, I would of tried it a minute ago if I wasn't so consumed with the Naruto and FT franchises
  4. WNL: read above
  5. Dr.Stone: read above
  6. Food Wars: Rindo, Erina, and Soma keep me entertained enough, but since last year I wait a couple chapters then just binge cause reading weekly made me drop it before. I dislike the fanservice in this show, it's unique but food and tits don't mix well me
  7. Boruto (monthly): the manga has been so terrible, I watch the anime also and it's monumentally better. But the manga just started a new arc and looking forward to it
Dropped Neverland and OP for reasons I said before, haven't try BC, KnY, HZ which you guys like a lot on here. BC I'll stay anime-only, KnY just can't get past the art at all, HZ just not interested in sports because I watch enough sports in real life.

It's not like the romance elements aren't clear though. The author usually gives us a clear depiction of when someone is attracted to someone, which leads to having circumstances to cause either one or both to let the other realize their feelings for them. Even in its setting and genre I wouldn't called it more meaningful than say All Might barely being able to tell Deku all the truth of his incoming death, instead stopping himself short of finishing his sentence. The episodes connect, Ogata and Nari kissed awkwardly and now they have awkward moments in the episodes going forward. Nari helping the teacher clean her room has now led to him going over there anytime she needs him to clean something and in turn she'll help him study. But I can't see how making an episodic arc is harder than making a long winding arc. It's why we see some long running arcs (4th ninja war, Thousand Year Blood war, Dressrosa to some) drop in quality once it hits the middle towards the ending cause most new arcs start off great, but it's difficult to continue that greatness over 100 plus chapters. Bottom line, if I could participate in making the storyboard for the Simpsons (episodic) or make the storyboard for Justice League (long arching) I would take Simpsons any day of the week.

Welp, I'm always on board, if it's about ranking, though normally it's more about villains, but manga are fine, too:

1. The Promised Neverland: Loving the world and the characters being characters, especially Emma. Though I'm missing the tension, bc of lack of any direct threats and goals, it's stillvery enjoyable at the moment.
2. Dr.Stone: Surprised how much I enjoy this series, after its first meh-ish chapters.
3. Kimetsu No Yaiba: It's good, and I have no complaints, though I have the feeling that something is lacking, but I cannot point my finger to exactly what.
4. One Piece: I actually liked the whole arc a lot, but I dont regard Big Mom as a mindless berserk as threatening than in her her not-hungry persona. Also, the running chapters bothered me a few weeks ago. Feels like the end of the arc gets stretched a little bit too much.
5. Black Clover: The tournament is rather boring-ish, but I enjoy the neat moments of several characters, like Noell and "Zax Lugner". The story is not that interesting at the moment, but I still like several of the characters, so I dont really mind. Just hoping that someone finally intercepts this whole thing.
6. My Hero Academia: Really mixed feelings about this arc.Overhaul as an antagonist bores me, and Sun Eater's and Kirishima's chapters were frustrating to me(I know there are people who enjoyed them, but I'm not one of 'em). Also, not feeling anything for Nighteye. Fatgum and Lemilion are the best things in this arc, especially with the chapters of Mirio being legitimately great. Oh and it bothers me a DAMN lot, that the girls, including the girl of the Big 3 and the Lady of the Pro-Heroes are excluded from this whole battle against the Yakuza early on. Feels really weird and I dont like it.

I saw the same concern brought in the forum, if the girls' fights get off-paneled shit would be so lame. It's really starting to look like that too which would be unfortunate. Ryukyu's group has too much potential.

It's just such a weird thing, because Horikoshi is actually better presenting his female characters compared to Naruto and One Piece so far. They are capable to fight, being useful AND having different/colorful designs, yet till this point, many of 'em got the short end of the stick regarding screen time. But to be fair, many other characters, who are male are in a similiar situation, because there are so many characters to begin with. I think, I wouldnt even complain about this so much now, if we didnt have in the same arc 4 heroines who we didnt see for months by now.

That reminds me of an interview with Ashihara(the mangaka of World Trigger), where he mentioned, that he got told by his editor, that the WSJ audience doesnt enjoy girl Vs boy fights that much-
My only explaination would be now, that because the villains in this arc are males(with Toga the Token girl among them), that Horikoshi put the heroines out of the action, so not to lose the interest of his audience.
I'm not happy with this theory, but it is the best explaination I have now, because Horikoshi put much effort to design & create his female characters, so I cant really believe that he doesnt care about them in the first place.

An interview with Yuuki Tabata was posted today. In it, he says he's excited for Licht VS Yami fight. Well, with that I think we can asure that the anime will have at least 25 episodes.

My Series:

1. Shokugeki no Soma (Fun, but predictable. It's Megumi's time to shine)
2. Promised Neverland (Actually fun to guess what's going happens next)
3. Dr. Stone (Dropped, then picked up again.)
4. BnHA (It's still fun, but I am not so hyped about it)
5. Yuragi (when I can be bothered)
6. OP (when I can be bothered)
7. Marie (Dropped until the series is cancelled)

1. Hinomaru Zumou
2. Academia
3. Kimetsu No Yaiba
4. Yuragi
5. One Piece

Not even caught up with the first 2. Still need to read RxL/TPN and series like Dr.Stone/WNL/SnS I've dropped. SnS is just a disgrace to the food genre for me. Predictable and shokugeki's dont have a lot of tension to them after a while.

Never read Haikyuu but the anime is god tier. Season 4 when.
3. Kimetsu No Yaiba: It's good, and I have no complaints, though I have the feeling that something is lacking, but I cannot point my finger to exactly what.
At least for me, I think it's to deal with Muzan and his motives not clear yet. We got foreshadowng about the blue spider lily before this arc started so I'll wait for that. Also, more importantly, I feel that characters like Zenitsu can use more development and maybe Inosuke; Tanjirou's characterization/development is good but the other two can use more work, especially Zenitsu with development. Nezuko is just there most of the time too.

Pillars are fine so far but I would prefer them being fleshed out more. Tanjirou breaking his sword every arc can feel a bit annoying. Like he damaged it this arc too? KnY is awesome but these are just minor complaints for the time being or nitpicks.

Here we go again with this mentality that romance is low-tier genre. Romance can be harder to do than action/adventure manga because things are much more subtle in romance manga, a glance between a couple is enough for a plot in romance, you have to catch the nuances and the author has to make the nuances in a way that they are perceptible, but not that evident. "We Never Learn" latest chapter was full of plot, if you didn't see it, it can't be helped. While in an action/adventure manga you can mostly get away with good looking action scenes, in romance a frame make a lot of difference.
We get it, you love your romcoms and cute girls. No need to get so defensive over something that wasn't even an insult. I only said that romcoms are mostly episodic in nature. I made no comment on the quality of WNL (which I've said before that I enjoy) or the romcom genre.
You make it seem like romcom manga are "deep" and subtle when, especially for shounen romcom, it couldn't be more straightforward. A cute girl blushing when the mc touches her or looks in her direction isn't subtle at all.

I think episodic comedy is definitely one of the more difficult things to write because you have to create new jokes quite often, which Saiki does really well, and there aren't a lot of cliches you can rely on either because an overused joke won't be funny. It's not like battle manga or romcoms where there are a pool of cliches to pull from when you need a plot line (or whole chapter in romcoms case). Big respect for Asou-sensei.

Shoodan (I still think Jump will let it stay around at least another serialization round, shame it's struggling. It's so comfy and charming.)
Judging from the latest translated chapter, it's ending pretty soon. I wouldn't get my hopes up. I'm sad about it too.

There hasn't really been that one "oh shit" arc yet like the Zabuza arc in Naruto or the Arlong arc in One Piece. The spider family arc was good, but it wasn't amazing. Also the points that Studiopolis covered, especially the character development. What's supposed to be the "main trio" seems more like "Tanjirou, oh and Inosuke and Zenitsu are there too".
Also a complaint I have with the current arc is that I feel like there's too much exposition, but it looks like we're finally getting to the action.
