Best “boy” friends in FT

Definitely BROTP

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN GRAY!

They had the chemistry. Tho I deducted point from that stupid END vs Gray fight.

These 2 have a pretty cool dynamic, what prevents me from giving them a higher score is that nonsensical Gray vs E.N.D fight, absolutely nauseating.

A good brotp, though its still below Sting x Rogue.

From a genre where rivalries between the two main male protagonists have become somewhat trendy due to the infamous Naruto vs Sasuke duels in Naruto, I think the friendship between these two is one of the healthier ones I've had the joy of reading/watching. They do fight of course (Though it really is usually played of as comedy):

And when Erza is in the picture, we get moments like these (Though admittedly that was beginning of series):

When they aren't busy bickering though, we get things like these.

Fighting together:

Natsu has shown worry over Gray's life whenever the latter was in danger due to his frequent suicidal tendencies.

And even goes as far as stopping him when Gray insists on fighting even when battered and bruised:

Gray has also done the same for Natsu, showing concern for him the moment they split up to go find Erigor:

And retrieving his scarf for him within enemy headquarters:

Natsu and Gray had such a cool relationship for most of the series. Their team work against Mard Geer was their ultimate display of trust in one another. However, between the forced END Vs Gray fight and the stupid iced shell repeat, Hiro really did do his best to turn this awesome BrOTP into trash in the alvarez arc.

I dunno. Gray and Natsu have close brotp. He’s more of a brother than Zeref was portrayed, but I never was into the yaou of Gratsu, like maybe Laxus x Freed or the potential of Sting x Rogue. Or Lyon x Gray +.+ (that OVA of them down the water slide).

They too much like yaou pairings of other stories - Naruto/Sasuke, Kill/Gon, Allen/Kanda.

Rogue x Minerva Why not? Personally I have crack ships for both of them, but if they end up being together, I'm ok with that. Although I agree, that Minerva had more emotional scenes with Sting than Rogue.

Hibiki x Jenny They might be canon, but I still prefer Hibiki x Karen (as I pointed out earlier) But they look good asf together, I admit.

Makarov x Porlyusica Only as bro-sis tbh, I don't see anything romantic in their relationship.

Laxus and Freed Level of admiration Freed holds toward Laxus gives me sometimes vibes of master-servant relationship tbh Raijinshuu showing their attachment to Laxus are sometimes used as comic relief, but they all share strong bond and Laxus would do anything for them, just like they would do for him
Sting x Yukino Isn't it... my otp from Sabertooth? Outside of top 20? Ok, I know they didn't have much panel time as characters, let alone as couple and the similarities between them and NaLu are visible, but I like them more than main heros' ship tbh, they look so cute, sweet and innocent together, it can't be helped Maybe it's because of their whiteness/brightness/noideahowtocallit? Or maybe it's because Sting never said "I saw Yukino naked so many times, that it doesn't bother me anymore"?

Zeref x Mavis I used to like this ship a lot, I found them cute. And then, August's backstory happened

Erza & Kagura I have one major issue with this sistp - too fast. They went way too fast from "you're my enemy" to "be my sister".

Natsu & Gray Ok, I didn't expect it so early tbh, after unsuccessful Lost Iced Shell people were full of "ohs" and "ahs" for their brotp afterall. Well, I assume it was seasonal and Twin Dragons come back on the best brotp throne Jk, I like Natsu and Gray dynamics a lot, even though END plot kinda screwed it

They seem too competitive to be a couple and it's too cliché to have the male leads as lovers. I think if any were gay Gray and Lyon would be better and Natsu and Happy. However, they don't hold a candle to the Sting and Rogue.

They should've went out. Not to knock the Jerza fans but these two were super hot together. Those seven years of development and being parents to Meredy. I mean come on that was a missed oppurtunity.

Really good friends, both in the Magic Council and in Crime Sorciere. In an alternate universe(Not Edolas) I think the girl Jellal would have fallen for if Erza wasn't around is Ultear. Plus unlike Erza she probably wouldnt pussy foot around her feelings like Erza does.

No romantic interaction, and even in terms of friendship, this pairing is lackluster. Ultear x Meredy would have been way better for a brotp (or sistp) pairing. Jellal x Ultear feels odd if we're only talking about friendship. And as i said, no romance whatsoever.

I feel as if as far as Jellal's relationships and interactions go among all the characters in the story, the one he has with Ultear is VASTLY underrated. Since it really is one of the longest standing ones in the show, spanning from when they were kids:

To their time in the Magic Council together (Albeit this was with a thought projection of Jellal and not the real thing):

And seven years as part of Crime Sorciere with their child, Meredy

Even after her 'death' after the use of Last Ages in the Grand Magic Games, she leaves behind a letter for her comrades to continue fighting in her stead, which is really one of the most emotionally powerful moments in the series:

I really think this had the makings to be something more. Mostly because these two really do look great together. Plus they both share a dark past connected to Zeref, so there's something to work with here. But alas, as most of their interactions were offscreen for the most part, we need to content ourselves with the little gems we got.

This ship doesn't deserve to be that high imo. There has never been any hint of a romantic development between them. And they don't even share that big of a friendship tbh, not at the level of Fairy Tail members. Their relationship is all about their guild and killing dark guilds, they don't seem to have any complicity, or at least (again) not at the level of Erza x Natsu or Natsu x Gray etc.
And no, Ultear manipulating Jellal without Jellal even knowing who she was, doesn't count as a ground for a relationship.
I mean i don't want to discredit this ship, this is still better than other nonsense like Laxus x Cana or Laxus x Brandish or some others. But in terms of both romance and friendship, this pairing isn't as solid as some others that already got eliminated. This ship imo is overrated as fuck.
Unless you can show me a glint of a romantic interaction between the two. Or show me how they share a stronger bond than Erza x Natsu for instance.

Early Fairy tail is riddled with shallow comments from the half fish lady toward her master about Lucy's lack of a boyfriend. It wasn't until Oracion Seis that we actually got to see Aquarius's boyfriend. Not much is known about their relationship except that Angel had already known they were together, as she allowed both of them to go on a date and leave the battle behind.

Aquarius and Scorpio appear together with the rest of the Celestial Spirits when they bring Lucy and her group to the Celestial Spirit World. When explaining the joke, Aquarius latches on to Scorpio's arm. Aquarius also talks with Juvia. The two blue-haired water users talking about their mutual boy troubles and becoming fast friends.

It has been hinted that Scorpio doesn't know about Aquarius's bipolar nature as the mermaid has been seen threatening Lucy into not telling her man about how cruel she can be.

Crescent speaks, "Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Already hiding stuff from you man, Aquarius. That doesn't bold well for your relationship."

During Naval Battle, Aquarius is summoned within a giant water sphere by Lucy, declaring the water to be her playground as she prepares to attack. However, Juvia Lockser uses a spell in the water that creates a whirlpool-like effect, surprising Aquarius as she notes that Juvia's abilities are on par with her own. Observing the happenings, Aquarius declares her intentions to leave, stating that the battle won't end well. Despite Lucy telling her she's the one she can most count on in the water, Aquarius blushes and tells Lucy that she has a date and leaves, leaving Lucy to the mercy of the Naval battle.

Crescent speaks,
"Get out of here with that crap Aquarius"
"I have never truly forgiven Aquarius for this action."



Later in GMG, Aquarius is summon to fight the executioners and informs Lucy that Scorpio might be cheating on her.

Here we can see Aquarius hiding behind a pillar, channeling her inner Juvia, to watch Scorpio flirt with celestial maidens.

Finally in Alvarez, when Lucy uses Aqua Metria, Scorpio mentions his girlfriend.

While in the high school OVA, they are together still. And Aquarius can be seen clinging desperately to the man.

I would be ok with this ship except for two things:
1) Aquarius often abandons Lucy in the middle of a battle to go on a date with Scorpio, and angrily scolds Lucy for summoning her when she is on a date (that joke got old fast plus it was never really funny to begin with);
2) How Aquarius's brain cells seem to die around Scorpio

I like this pair. I always wanted Lucy to summon them both to work together one day, but I realized water and sand dont mix. And one thing I really hate is how Aquarius abandons Lucy in the middle of a battle just to go on a date. That’s just wrong and probably why I didn’t rate them so high

If by ship, you mean "two person of the opposite sex having a conversation", then yes, this is a ship. I don't know how this conversation makes this ship superior to others ships eliminated before them though.
Meh, that was my last post on the subject. Imho Ultear and Jellal are an "ok" ship, with no romance whatsoever and inferior to most ships in terms of freindship, but i'll accept that people WANT them to be a couple, hence the votes.
Ultear being extremely hot is a plus.


So now, Aquarius x Scorpio huh?
Well... Yeah, a legit couple, but... I don't know, i've never liked them much tbh. Scorpio is very forgettable. Imo Aquarius x Lucy sistp/relationship would have deserved a better spot than AquaPius (Sorparius?).

Cobra was enslaved as a child, that is, until Brain arrives at the Tower of Heaven to collect Cobra, as well as other slave children to become members of his Oracion Seis group. He had a very close friend, a pet snake, and his prayer was to hear her voice.

During the OS arc, Cobra, along with the other members of his guild attacks the council’s alliance; he engages Erza Scarlet in combat, ordering Cubellios to bite Erza's arm, poisoning the S-Class Mage. As Erza reels from the assault, Cobra informs her that the poison isn't fast-acting and will kill her slowly.
Later the two fight Natsu and Happy in a partial aerial dragon slayer battle before he is defeated and stabbed in the back by Brain.

When she was young, Kinana was transformed into a snake by a malicious Mage. She was turned back by Makarov after he realized that she was actually a human. Kinana had no recollection of being a snake when she was first turned back, but recently, her memory as a snake has slowly resurfaced, in which she hears a voice asking to hear her thoughts. She also said that she has made a promise with her friend - even if they would become separated, he would ride a shooting star to come back for her. After Makarov turned her back into a human, she became an employee of the Fairy Tail Guild.

Makarov did this to keep an eye on her if she ever regained her memory, as if she did, something terrible could happen to her. Besides Makarov, only Macao Conbolt, Wakaba Mine and Mirajane Strauss know of Kinana's transformation.

The two reunite and simultaneously get most of their development in the filler arc KOTSS. When Kinana decides to go look for who is calling her.

Finally, Kinana feels that the one speaking to her mind is close and runs towards Cobra. When Erza finishes defeating Cobra, Kinana looks up to the sky and finds something falling. She realizes that it must be the person who has been calling out to her, and runs towards him. Later when Cobra is arrested, he states Kinana isn’t with him to keep her safe.

During Erik's release to fight one of the dragons, Kinana states that she heard the dragon slayer's voice while Cobra states he can hear Cubellios’s voice when he’s released to fight the dragons.
