Toriko's push was similar to BC. It had lots of colours and was sometimes the cover but not the lead colour. Its rankings were also consistently high. They pushed it but it was mostly in the magazine itself. Besides the Jump festa OVA, there wasn't too much of other media push like TV spots, etc.
Neverland is a totally different case. People say that its doing well without an anime but I'd argue that it better be doing that well given it had at least 3 TV introductions; Ame Talk, ZIP and another show. People like to say that Kingdom would be selling even better if it had an anime but its the opposite. The anime raised it up to 300-350k, Ame Talk raised it up to the current 750k, though that rise was done slowly over a year through further word of mouth. The year following Ame Talk it was doing around 600k. This year it passed TG. Neverland was given an almost 5 minutes introduction there. One can say it wasn't "forced" to be introduced but the hosts, popular comedians, still talked about it for that long. People will definitely go and check it out if Kendo Kobayashi and Ariyoshi Hiroiki say its an interesting series. Next, Neverland was given a whole segment on ZIP, a popular morning TV show on NTV which has average ratings of around 9%. Its one of the most popular morning shows in Japan. They like to shed a spotlight on up and coming trends while also doing all kinds of other segments. It got 5-10 min on there exclusively discussing its plot (as spoiler-freely as possible), reactions from the hosts, again popular TV personalities, and reactions from people on the street who regularly read Jump. This is much more than the average anime can do for a series given its on programs with much higher viewerships than most anime, even daytime anime, will ever have.
The fact that with this much its a little under Heroaca at the same time is almost a little underwhelming given Heroaca had no TV promotion until early 2016 with Mando Kobayashi. It will continue to get lots of promotion here on out and its definitely the biggest hit since Heroaca but to say that its doing so well with no anime is borderline ridiculous given this much of TV exposure with only 6 volumes released so far.
