Look like Hinomaru anime will adapting all 1st part (chapter 1 to 159 means volume 1 to 17).
Holy shit, so it probably will be Toei, I was expecting this to be possible, I mean, things are set up perfectly for an adaptation of the first part with all that content, maybe they waited for this long on purpose for the anime so they could just adapt the first part. Either it's Toei or a combo of Madhouse x Production I.G or Madhouse x TMS or just I.G if we get super lucky.

I really doubt it's Pierrot because I feel like they have their hands full with BC and Boruto for now and and they have other projects for 2018 confirmed already, but they are one of the only studios that still do long running anime, so they are a possibility.

Can the adaptation be good if Toei gets it? Well, there is a lot of content to work with, so at least we shouldn't get any filler garbage, at least that's my wishful thinking.
If a good staff works on it then maybe we'll get lucky and there will be good animation highlights like there were with Tiger Mask W from time to time.
Toei are quite free right now, they do make long running shows all the time and they haven't touched any WSJ manga since World Trigger in 2014.
Then the question is, what would the pacing be? If they only adapt 2 chapters per episode we'll get about 80 episodes If they adapt about 3 chapters per episode, we'll get something like 52-54 episodes, which would probably be for the best? I feel like with Toei, the longer something is, the worse the quality is going to be.

In Japan, all sumo game its boradcast on Nhk. So logically, anime will be also on Nhk. And in this case, no way studio anime will be Pierrot or Toei.
You know what, I think I did speculate at some point that NHK would be a good network for HZ or that at least they would fund at least a season for it. But, I'm pretty sure that NHK already have their full lineup of anime announced for this year, so HZ would end up being a 2019 anime if it is airing there. Pierrot are a big possibility because they did make Kingdom and Baby Steps for NHK, but a lot of studios get shows on NHK, so it can easily be someone else. If it is on NHK, that would be for the best, since the show would air in separate two cour seasons with breaks in between, that's how they've been doing things lately at least.

But wouldn't it also make sense for the show to air on a more popular time-block if Toei have access to one for example, to give the anime more exposure? The main goal is to promote sumo, more-so than promoting the manga I think xD.

Then again, I don't think thesumo anime that Toei did in 2014 aired on NHK and that was a re-adaptation of a classic sumo manga.

Long running shows are a dying breed, only Toei and Pierrot still seem to go for this pretty outdated approach.

I just noticed Shuudan is dead, sad, but expected, the author should seriously try to go somewhere else or try his luck with an action series if he still wants to try WSJ.

David Pro and Mappa also do longer shows on occasion, although neither seems interested in doing anything less than 20 years old.

Who knows though, maybe a newer studio is looking to do their first big project and it'll be someone random nobody guessed.

If HZ airs in NHK, then it could be like Baby steps with 4 cours.

I mean, it’ll either be 4 or 6 depending on how they pace it. Given its nature, 4 seems more natural at least.

Except for the actors of Arale and Naruto everyone else has a face that says: "Where did everything go so wrong that I ended up with this role?"

All Might looks like a demonic old woman from some Nobuhiko Obayashi movie.

Maybe it will be like Daiya no Ace, 50 episodes. But if it will be Toei, i hope there's a good director who knows some good animators.

Does sumo really need good animators? Youre just standing really close and moving back slowly. It doesnt need that good animation. It just reminds me of a currently running anime (Evil or Live) where they just stand at attention for hours. You dont need really good animators for standing.

What Zumou needs more than anything else is good sound direction and well thought out pacing. The series' strong suit has always been it's ability to build hype and tension and you don't need sakuga to do that, but you do need it to be paced properly with fitting audio.

Hinomaru is getting an anime, I can't say I saw this coming

New series next month on Jump+ from the author of FANTASMA (they misspelled the name lol, still one of my favorite series from SQ) and a serialization of a recent SQ Crown oneshot from the author of Senyu.

Darling in the FranXX is getting a chibi spinoff besides Yabuki series, studio Trigger really wants this to be big

Jump Plus started a giant serialization round with 21 new series recently, however almost every single one that had a volume come already out didn't sell well, and the one that did sell well Juuni Taisen is just a novel adaptation which is already almost finished

hope this new serialization round give them new hits, they need them since Heroaca Smash, Fire Punch, Kanata no Astra, Makui no Rease all either ended or ending
