The sequel starting with the 100 Year Quest makes more sense because of how the last chapter ended. But also the sequel could also be about the 100 Year Quest and a new plot like something involving the gods.

Well if you don't like it what can i say but I personally feel it was the best arc of FT.
Those two girls aren’t the other main characters of Mashima’s new manga since the drawings on Mashima’s Twitter aren’t canon their just draw for fun and for the readers to remember the characters. And besides Mashima said that he won’t post the characters from his new series on his Twitter and already has said characters on his mind.
Irene vs erza.
I think that the demons were pretty lame villains, with the exception of Mard Geer (the leader) and maybe Torafusa (the fish guy), the others were just one dimencional psychos that were really horny (Kyoka,the book lady), filler that barely had any participation (Octopus that fought with Wendy, that bunny idiot that tried waaay too hard to be funny), the only other interesting character that had a dumb twist just for drama (Silver).

I wasn’t talking about the sequel but the other spin off that Mashima plans to do. And besides for a new generation series to happen the kids need to appear before the original series ends and we only saw Gajeel and Levy’s twins so that means there won’t be a next generation.
