In my head -- when Demon is mafia, he's very precise with what he does. (Classic Demon play.) When he's townie, he plays more like "meh, I am here." It's very subtle because there is no change in mood.

Or maybe it's my imagination.

I wish I could have taken part on it a little more, but I guess it was for the best, I would have screwed town even more lol. Props to @TSPanda for the suffering he beared for us the whole game and honorable mention to @Seraph for best newbie, you did very very well for a first timer. :verily

Demon is a great mafia, he countless times let his nakama dying, and just step over their dead bodies to reach the top, as any great mafia should do ! thats how is he :catshrug

Alright, I had a whole night to stew over this....bizarre turn of events, so I don't think anymore needs to be said. But I will explain the choice of roles in the game since I think that's a due explanation :hmm
Paranoid Spy - I got the idea to try out this role since I remember Demonspeed claiming this last game (The One Punch Man one) when he was Mafia, so I wondered how the role would work in a game lay out :p Also, because the first game I co hosted with Lambu, we had a Spy, so it was only fair to try out the other side of the spectrum.
Freeman - This was because in RWBY there was a Mafia Burden, so again, trying out the alternate version of the role. But I have to admit it landing on Van was well.....an unfortunate turn of events. But the double night phase was a good experience.
Insane Apprentice - This role was honestly supposed to be the most versatile one in the game due to the capacity to mimick any role, and yes, it was included on the off chance that a second Serial Killer would be birthed (So that the game would be two third parties vs a Mafia group vs Townies). In all honesty I am kind of disappointed that the game did not end up a Serial Killer/ Third Party win, but I suppose we can't all have all that we want in life :bnah There was also the off chance that Insane Apprentice would learn from a Mafia Member or townie and assimilate their role, but that Pirate steal :awe
Sane Apprentice - Townie benefit role, I don't think much needs to be said here.
Mafia Pirate and Townie Pirate - I included these because I was salty af over Hancock losing :pls So all of you would realize what you missed out on voting on in the WW :bnah
Vengeful Townie - I made an unsuccessful claim with this role last time I claimed it, so I figured someone else would would put it to better use than me :hmph Which actually ended up happening, so one of the positives in this game is a Vengeful townie being lynched for the first time (Unless I'm talking out of my ass here :gwah)
Sickly Townie - Again, a role that couldn't be used well in the OPM game, so I decided to give it a second go this time round. Which actually ended up being a half success (The Sickly Townie living on till day 5), and half failure because only two people ended up catching the flu. Maybe he was an Insane Sickly Townie :teehee
After realizing the RWBY game only had one doctor and one detective, we decided to empower town a little more this game and increase the number of protective and investigative roles. Along with a few duds in between so that even in the offset these roles got eliminated, town wouldn't be too handicapped. For protection roles there was a Naive Doctor, an Insane one and a Sane one. The Naive one ended up being lynched but town didn't exactly lose too much, though the reactions were :lmao
Same case as with investigative roles, a Sane Detective, and Insane Detective and a Paranoid spy. Of course the Paranoid Spy's results would be questionable but again, even if they were killed off or died it wouldn't be too big a blow to town.
The Mafia roles are self explanatory, but we also wanted to see how different a game would be without a Janitor/Assassin. And surprisingly it was actually a lot of fun, so I think the Mafia roles don't have too much to them.

@GrySun i just cannot agree with you. But im not home and hate typing on phone' so we'll leave it at that. If after all that happened during the game and that were extremely bad for town, the prostitute being able to block ONE kill should not have made such a difference. If even with all of this mafia needed to play flawlessly to win, then it was unfair to begin with. Thats my humble opinion, qnd will most likely not change.
Just trust me on this one Taku.
Look at it this way, when you died only 3 mafias were left. You were still very much ahead because of all the townie deaths, especially after the freeman nights. So what happened then? Can you really say that your team "didn't play flawlessly" or just that they didn't play "good"? The main issue is not being lynched, for which they all 3 have to make themselves credible or find someone else to blame. Both didn't work out. Town got their act together, while all 3 of your teammates were suspected by town. Leaving Cres and Panda, which were all but confirmed after Kato's lynch, was pretty fatal a mistake since it left the final day with 2/5 players confirmed townies. Add a double lynch to that, as well as one of the townies being Prostitute, and there you have the win.

I think the main problem you're having is that you think your team played good + had huge luck. Your luck was huge, never suspecting Kato isn't unskilled while still killing people with him all the time, winning that cointoss with the blocking, having James kill me, the docs/dets being a non-factor. But the playing good part wasn't there. In all mafia wins there are mafias that are trusted by townies, none of your team managed that as Kato got lynched, and Marm, Final and Bel were known as mafias/tp by the last 2 townies. You still could've won it there, but the double lynch happened.

So it wasn't needed for mafia to play flawlessly, you just needed either lynch scapegoats for the days or being trustworthy, which are basic requirements for mafias. 5 mafias are the number for this player size, and you even had a Freeman help + SK. If anything I'd say this is a more mafia-favored game than not, with all the town roles mainly being there to distrust each other.

Sprig I think I said this in the pad too once. If I had the skill and time I'd edit that All Might "only villains do that" meme. Always pick the darker green shade, not the bright ones. That one is visible on all themes, while this brighter one I can't even read on coffee :nomoar Gotta swap the theme.

On ultraviolet I can't see some black text either :gwah

Tho seriously @Gryffindor what was wrong? I thought you were mafia while spectating all game, mainly because you played so much differently than in the OPM game before. You didn't carry like last time, but mostly chilling in the background. Also, why did you deny being the Sickly in the last day? Mostly everyone forgot a sickly even existed at that point due to unlucky targeting, so not sure why you expected someone to claim Sickly.
Still, infecting Bel at the end was crucial, else the double lynch would've never happened and it'd have been a mafia or TP win. Sickly is super underrated, since he can both confirm himself whenever he wants, as well as be very important in the last few phases.
I was trying to keep Vandred and Lambu from voting last on a potential bomb :pls

Though with that being said, I don't think the playstyle was drastically different from the OPM game save a few trolls here and there and the end of D5.

I denied being Sickly because I wasn't planning to claim sickly unless I was in danger of lynch. It's true that the role had been forgotten so I was going to leave it at that. I didn't expect someone else to claim sickly, I was going to contradict whatever Panda or Bel claimed(as in claim the same role and see if we can get any slip-ups or something). When Panda claimed and gave results, I believed them, so that left Bel. So then I voted Panda to:
1) bait Daws-wanted to see how he reacted/voted-if he voted Panda, would've tied it 4-4(but the locks still would've lynched Kato, was secretly hoping if he was Mafia he would overlook the locks)-instead he votelocked Kato so I believed he was Townie then.
2) leave myself open to being a scapegoat so I can see the next day and be used as a potential lynch, would obviously defend myself of course and if worst came to worst claim Sickly lol.

..obviously Bel had other plans:catshrug



So yep, flawed plan pretty much sums up my performance this game:feelsgoodman

So... you were too preoccupied with whether you could put those roles in, that you didn't stop to think if you should? :XD You explained why you wanted them in the game, but didn't explain why you think the role list is good the way it is, or what purpose many of the roles serve.

The biggest problem I have with the setup are easily the 2 Apprentices and 2 Pirates. Pirate is mainly a townie confirmation tool, while Apprentice is that + a huge wildcard throwing balance out the window depending on which role it copies, making everything highly unstable. The best and worst case for them all could've made the game unwinnable for either team by day 3. 11/19 possible targets for them were either bad roles or outright death. One of which is the funny situation of them targeting each other, which even happened with Seraph going in circles. What was the purpose of having so many of them? Was it just to have wildcards that can create chaos? Or just for fun of the hosts to spectate?

Then there's all these active roles. 3 Docs, one of each version, which is a fancy way of saying there's only 1 doc and 2 liabilities which will get each other lynched upon reveal. Same with the paranoid Spy. Was his purpose to troll whichever player ends up with it so he blames/lynches the wrong person? :grumble Or messes up the Apprentices or other claims? The only passive roles were a vengeful, who rarely gets lynched so it's likely town has no killing potential in this setup, and the Freeman who is there to either balance out whatever is destroyed by the Apprentices/bunch of active roles or to further ruin a bad situation.

And finally, it's extremely coin-toss heavy. Which turns it more into a game of luck. Same problem I had with the Umineko game iirc. You said you wanted to make town stronger than in RWBY, but in the end just made a lot of pitfalls in terms of troll-roles and randomness.

1) bait Daws-wanted to see how he reacted/voted-if he voted Panda, would've tied it 4-4(but the locks still would've lynched Kato, was secretly hoping if he was Mafia he would overlook the locks)-instead he votelocked Kato so I believed he was Townie then.
2) leave myself open to being a scapegoat so I can see the next day and be used as a potential lynch, would obviously defend myself of course and if worst came to worst claim Sickly lol.

Main difference is that you didn't take the leading position like in OPM, actively leading all talks and who gets questioned/lynched and here you didn't. Only had a few catfights with 1-2 people every day but other than that no detective work like last time. Thought you'd have to be mafia for sure with how you don't feel like pressuring more than few people :whistle

But now I see your plan, and I guess it's.. doable, but kinda unreliable. Alas. Hope to see you hunt people again next time :nono
