I like this one, but probably still one of my less favorite Ghibli films tbh. Gorgeous animation though, and it was a great third Ghibli to show my son (who was entranced by it)

Mind Game
Maindo Gemu
@Organizized

@GrySun this is the film I was talking about from the director of your upcoming pick Night is Short, Walk on Girl/Tatami Galaxy. This seriously has some of the most unique animation I have ever seen, and the title really says it all about the film. It's mind-fucking, but in a fantastic way (imo - it's definitely a "love it or hate it"-kind of film).

Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' on Heaven's Door
Cowboy Bebop: Tengoku no Tobira
@Brandish

Bet you thought I'd pick this one, huh? This got a spot on my Honorable Mentions list, and while it is indeed an awesome film, it doesn't really occupy the same amount of place in my heart which the series does.

The Cat Returns
Neko no Ongaeshi
@Elusia

This film doesn't get the credit it deserves. When I first saw it, I thought it wasn't all that - because I watched it right after a bunch of the incredible masterpieces from the studio. But it's seriously so much fun as a light adventure film.

@Organizized

Speaking of films which don't get the credit they deserve. This is the Ghibli film I keep claiming as one of my favorites ever, where people give me funny looks. But there's so much depth in the story and the characters, while the overall plot and atmosphere is so damn feel-good. I think apart from one other of my picks (and Totoro since I got a kid), this is the one I've watched the most. It's so damn good.

@Brandish

Had this on my list for a bit. I remember gushing over the animation when I first rented this. Watched it three times before returning it to the rental service. But I watched it again lately and it didn't strike the same chord with me as it did when I was 16.. so had to drop it off the list.

That reminds me, I still haven't watched this despite being hyped af about it when it was announced. Heard mixed things about it, but will definitely watch it soon anyway.

VERY nice pick; I have this on my honorable mentions list. Probably my second favorite Shinkai film, and that says quite a lot. This is beauty.

Kiki's Special Delivery Service
Majo no Takkyūbin
@Totinona

Maybe it's because I've seen this too many times since I introduced it to my son, but I didn't consider this one for my list. It's definitely deeper emotionally than many give it credit for, though, and full of fun adventure and great animation, too. My son grabs a broom and pretends to fly whenever he watches it (he wants to be a witch when he grows up - although also a fireman, policeman, pirate etc)

@GrySun

This film gave me something which I had been craving for years; a taste of new Tatami Galaxy-style storytelling. The Tatami Galaxy is one of my very favorite shows ever, and while this film tells a different story it keeps some characters and places them in amazing situations. This was non-stop fun, and I loved it, but I have only seen it once and haven't let it settle in my mind enough to be ranked as a definite favorite yet. So Honarable Mention, it is!

Faust, question: If say a manga that is for example based on a VN and has different story arcs that are illustrated by various manga artists, will it be counted seperatly or as a whole?

I would only count the actual manga series.

[Purity of Magi]

I would only count the actual manga series.

Thank you, that makes things a lot easier for me.

[Faust]

Update: I'm currently counting the points for the popular picks.

I think we can make that 40 points

@Purity of Magi lol never thought you would be the one picking this movie too I thought Elusia or Valhalla would mb pick this one... They broke our TTGL streak

And I didn't even know you and syx both saw the movie It was a good movie, but couldn't wholly live up to the quality of the TV anime. Jibril was besto again though, she never stops being great :3
