What do you mean different way of animating? Squash and stretch and all the common western animation techniques are already prevalent in Japanese animation industry. Not to mention, western animators working in Japan are influenced by anime in the first place. No sane western animator would move to Japan and work in an unfamiliar environment with shit pay if they weren't passionate about it so this excuse isn't going to work.
Different work cultures, different ethics all come into play when working in a different country.
Also, people have moved countries for shittier jobs and pay just to have a different life because eventually that would be more fruitful. Half of the people who move to Middle East from South Asian countries experience it. So, lets not even go there.
No it's not. There are plenty of mangaka in Japan that draw extremely realistic and detailed art like Akira Hiramoto and Shinichi Sakamoto. I Google searched Noblesse and The Breaker which are two of the most popular Korean manhwa in the west and they're barely similar when it comes to the art style.
Those selective examples tho. I've read the Breaker a bit. It's very clearly trying to imitate japanese manga. But despite that there are moments in the art you can clearly see Korean influences.
Also, you just kinda proved my point with the fact that the 2 most popular manhwa in the west don't look Korean but rather resemble more closely to japanese art styles.
Not preferring their work =\= Getting bothered by an outsider. Nobody sane says they feel bothered by Boichi working in Jump. You're trying extremely hard to excuse his behavior.
I'm not. If he really means he will be bothered by an outsider despite that outsider not bringing in any outside influences and won't have a negative effect on how the existing culture influences the work, then yeah its a different story and I'll agree with you. But all his arguments seem to prove he thinks it'll negatively affect a work that shouldn't be affected by something outside of Japan. To me, it seems as tho he just wants to preserve what make japanese anime special. An outside factor can destroy that and I understand that possibility which is why I'm "trying extremely hard" to defend him. (not trying hard at all. Literally typing this during my breaks and transit back home. So I'm quite jobless).
How would you feel if I said I don't prefer Indian directors or actors working in Hollywood because it bothers me? Admittedly, it doesn't bother me when I see a Chinese or middle eastern actors but I get bothered by Indians. It's just a personal preference.
Don't really care, personally. But Im sure others would have an issue with it. My mindset has always been if a person is RIGHT for the job and contributes positively to the role, they need to be given a chance irrespective of sex, gender, nationality. So, I guess you could say I agree with both your views.
...I'm confused now.
