Guidelines

Characters are to be chosen from any video game.
It'is up to you to define what is "hot". It sn’t just about abs, or pretty faces (though those help). It could also be about presence, charisma, voice if applied, attitude, and that aura that makes a character unforgettable.You’re free to define “hot” however you want, elegant, dangerous, soft, confident, mysterious, … as long as they made you feel something.
Characters from 18+ games are not allowed. Please keep it appropriate.
Honorable mentions are allowed.
If you want to add comments/explanations, I will gladly add them in the countdown.
As long as deadline is not reached, you can change your lists as much as you want.
Please, rank your top following the usual format :

1 - 10 pts
2- 9 pts
3- 8pts
4- 7pts

F.A.Q.

- Are anime manga characters like Bulma or Nami or Comics/Marvel and such characters, eligible?

There are plenty of games that are adapted from manga/animes, technically they are video game characters, but we just had an anime/manga characters round, I believe if possible, I prefer players to avoid nominating characters coming from original manga/anime medium ( I am aware that sometimes it's hard to tell, like in Pokemon /fate series, I believe game came out 1st). I have accepted last round maybe some characters that were coming potentially from anime adapted from original video games, though.

- I want to join but, I know nothing about video games.

The host knows almost nothing about games, however, she managed to make a list so don't worry if she could do a list, anyone can do ! It's about hotness character round, you don't need to have any game prior knowledge, you only have to pick the ones you like,it can help to no for sure but not a requirement. If you don't know any games, you can check out the popular licenses Wikia ( such as Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem, Final Fantasy, Street fighters, League of Legends, Pokemon, etc.) You can check characters in previous mafia games' video games themes to help you :

- Is there any restriction regarding game eligibility?

You can't nominate several times the same character from different games, if you want, for example, to nominate Link from Zelda, just specify the one you want to feature, I will count only one Link. Otherwise, you can nominate any character from any video game, be it an older game or newer, online or consoles, any kind of game works. Though please, nominate only humanoid characters (pokemon, monsters, animals are not eligible, elfs, androids etc are allowed) and avoid nominating a minor character, like an onlooker, like this:

Deadline : September 9th (but I might extend it, and certainly will do if necessary)

2. Paper Mario - 9 points
When I was a kid, I was obsessed with Pokémon, like any other kid. I spent half a fortune of allowance on trading cards and spent all my time playing the games. Overall I loved RPG games, but Pokémon gen 1 and 2 were just my life for a time.

Then I was introduced to Paper Mario at a friends’ house, and it took everything I loved about RPG’s and made it ten times more fun. I sold my Pokémon cards and bought the game for myself, and instead started a Paper Mario club (with a clubhouse with self-made PM decorations, where me and the whole two other members of the club wrote guides to collectibles, side-quests etc).

What’s more, the game totally holds up to this day, with its timeless visuals, humor and gameplay. The worlds/levels are fantastic to explore, both in the main storyline and - most of all - through the tons of great sidequests. There may be objectively better games than this, and obviously there’s a lot of nostalgia involved here, but even setting that aside I still hold this as my favorite N64 game and one of my favorites all categories.

Yes, same here. I get super nostalgic thinking back on those days; we were a whole heap of kids the same age where I lived and we’d basically take turns leaving the front door open and let anyone who wanted to bring a controller and join our N64 sessions. The ones we played the most were for sure Mario Kart, Mario Party, Smash Bros. and GoldenEye, and playing these games today they’re still so much fun. GoldenEye might not play as well as the FPS’s of today but the story mode (tried it on double agent recently, got rekt) is still great and the multiplayer just introduced me to a whole new way of playing games.

Donkey Kong Country 2 is definitely the best DKC game. I only owned the first one as a kid, and played the sequel at friends’ houses, but in my late teens I spent all my money on old video games and bought the whole trilogy. The first one gave me the most nostalgia for sure, but there’s no doubt it’s another case of “the second one made everything good about the original even better”.

And the same goes for Smash Bros. Melee, which imo is still the Smash game that plays the best. The successors may have more characters and more mechanics but when it comes to straight up fighting, nothing beats Melee.

Given how passionately I described Paper Mario, what could possibly top my list after that? Well, once I finally got myself a GameCube I found out there was a sequel to my favorite game on it. I was cautious but excited. I started it up and immediately that cautious feeling faded and I never looked back. Like Monkey Island 2, TTYD takes everything that was already amazing about Paper Mario 64 and made it ten times better, with added clever game mechanics and even better humor, more integrated and developed characters and story. The one thing the first one does better is the overall world/level design (but that’s by a margin). Other than that, TTYD is still the best RPG, and my favorite game, ever made. It has everything I want in a game and more.

So happy you shared that pick Nii - VtM:B is one of the best story-driven RPGs out there - The setting is relatively unused, the characters are all memorable and interesting, the game systems are all great. Even though it needs to be played via unofficial patches, it's still possibly my favourite RPG of all time.

Paper Mario does look great - I missed my chance to play it, back when I had an N64 (too busy playing Super Mario 64 - though, on 2nd thoughts, as great as SM64 was, Paper Mario does look better).

Completely missed this batch. I was under the illusion that Jet Set Radio Future was someone else’s passion pick and made the top 10. A bit much to hope for, I guess..
My favorite game for the Xbox. GTA and Red Dead be damned - this is the best game for just roaming around, having fun. The visuals are astounding and absolutely timeless, and while the story-line isn’t exactly the deepest ever, it doesn’t need to be. The gameplay makes up for it ten-fold. And if The Neverhood has my favorite game soundtrack ever, this one isn’t far behind. Absolutely love every bit of this game.

Mario Bros 3 is fantastic, and @zimbardo nice to see someone picked BF1942, can’t tell you how much I played that online back in the day. Not as much as Halo 2 but shit I put a lot of hours into that, it was such a great multiplayer game.
