Natsu doesn't use lightning anymore, but Gajeel was using his shadows in the Bloodman fight. No reason to assume ISD has disappeared for Gajeel. Even for Natsu, I doubt he has lost the ability to use lightning. It's just obsolete because FDK is better.
Natsu's lightning was decreasing in both length and power.

Compare his LFD against Precht, against Max, against Jiemma and Mars. It's power was decreasing.

Natsu even accepts it.

Also Gajeel didn't show it against Bloodman. So I think it disappeared.

Gray bodies Gajeel with or without shadow body. Gajeel can't get out of flash freeze.

Even without shadow body, Gajeel should be able to just break out of Gray's ice like Ajeel or Kyria. Unless Gajeel is significantly weaker than them, which I doubt.

That's because Natsu had Laxus's power when he used it on Tenrou Island, and he was using it with his own power against Max. There's no reason he can't use lightning with his own power, which is now more powerful than Laxus.

That will be a headcanon without proof in the manga.Lightning isn't his inherent ability,it's like Natsu can use any DS element. If he could use it he would have surely used it against Hitoria God Serena to bypass the water barrier.

How is it headcanon? Natsu used up all the power that Laxus gave him after he roared at Hades. Every time he used lightning after that, it would have been with his own magical power.

True but if he really imbibed that ability he would have used it in Alvarez,at least it should have been stronger than his base where he fought in Base he could used this. And even if i agree with your theory then it means Natsu doesn't have that ability anymore.

Lightning would be stronger than his base, but weaker than his Dragon King spells. If Natsu really wanted to hit hard, he would just use a dragon king spell instead. FDK made LFD obsolete, but that doesn't mean Natsu has somehow forgotten how to use lightning. For Gajeel, his ISD is still very much relevant as the black iron form he used against Bloodman is really only useful in specific situations.

Um how? Kyria has better showings then Gajeel and Gray's ice is near Invel's which froze Natsu. Gajeels is getting frozen. Also Gray never went serious on her either.

Gajeel doesn't need to be outright better than Kyria, he just needs to be within the same ballpark. It's not just Kyria either. Ajeel broke out of Ice-Make: Silver. Natsu broke out of Invel's ice, and more importantly he also broke out of Gray's ice when they later fought. Gajeel broke out of Acnologia's crystal prison. I see no reason why he wouldn't be able to break out of Gray's ice. Gajeel would have to be significantly weaker than Ajeel to be unable to replicate something like this.

How? He can't scale to any of Kyria's feats unless he's as strong as her.

Ajeel has the ability to dry out moisture. Natsu needed time to break out of Invel's ice. Natsu also uses fire which melts ice. That crystal was broken out by Rogue, Wendy, and Cobra which would all be easily frozen by the mere presence of Invel.

Ice Make Silver is also an Ice Make move not a DeS move. DeS Ice > Ice Make.

Gajeel is getting flash frozen.

Gajeel would have a harder time breaking out of the ice than Kyria if he's weaker, but Gajeel is close enough to Kyria's level that he would be able to do it.
Ajeel doesn't look like he was drying out the ice here. He just jumped, and the ice shattered. Invel's ice took some time for Natsu to break, but Gray's ice was shattered pretty quickly. I have no doubt that Invel would be able to freeze the dragon slayers, I just think they would be able to break out of the ice after they get frozen.

Ice Make-Silver is arguably Gray's best freezing attack. It's what Gray resorted to using against Skarion, after the later broke out of the ice from Ice-Devil's zero longsword.

Kyria's DS ability is to cut through anything tho so her abilities are more suited to bypass magic like that.

Ajeel was drying it out tho and he did the same thing when Gray tried to flash freeze his sand.

If they are frozen then they are frozen. Only reason Natsu got out was with his ability to melt the magic. The other DS have no way of getting out of Invel's flash freeze. Once they are frozen to the bone they are done. They'd be just like Natsu back was in the Tartarus arc.

You think? I always thought that was fodder attack seeing as he never used that technique after warming up. He always preferred to use Zero techs when he got serious.

Kyria would have an easier time cutting Gray's ice than Gajeel would, but you don't need to have Kyria's hax to break Gray's ice. Ajeel wasn't drying it out, and he didn't use the same thing when Gray tried to freeze him later on. When Ajeel used "thirst" against Gray's ice, the ice basically turned to sand. The ice wasn't turned to sand when Ajeel broke out of ice-make: silver. None of the ice really disappeared. You can see the shards of ice flying off from where Ajeel broke out. The anime versions of these scenes make it pretty clear that 2 very different things are happening.
They can still break the ice with physical force. Melting the ice is just one way to deal with it. Again, the dragon slayers managed to break out of Acnologia's crystals. That should be just as hard as breaking out of Invel's or Gray's ice, if not harder. Of all the targets that Gray has frozen (being Ajeel, Natsu, Kyria, and Skarion), none of them were immediately knocked out. All of them managed to eventually break free from the ice. Gajeel would have to be significantly weaker than everyone I just listed for Gray to be able to end the fight like this. We've seen Gajeel match Bloodman's Ice Devil magic, so I can't imagine him being this much of a pushover in this fight.

Again, Gray used Ice-Make: Silver against Skarion after his zero longsword failed. It was his attempt at freezing over Skarion's attack that was turning the sea into ash, and the last attack he got off before he was defeated. I would argue that given it's sheer AoE and the fact that it does require Gray to be in his devil form to use, that it's Gray's best freezing attack.

The point is, Kyria can use her cutting ability to break it but Gajeel has zero cutting ability to dice magic so he doesn't have the necessary capabilities to break it.

Ajeel can dry out moisture with his body so him breaking out could be a result of weakening the ice magic. He was turning practically everything that touch his body into sand as seen when Erza swords pierced him.

Cobra the weakest DS who is nowhere the level of high tier and he broke out so I don't see how you think getting out of thay crystal is anywhere near as hard as getting out of Invel's ice. Freezing Natsu and his flames by just the mere presence of his cold is a greater feat than that crystal.

Bloodman used a roar, he didn't even try to flash freeze Gajeel.

The point is Ice Make is weaker than DeS in terms of attack and coldness. He used Silver as AoE attack but his zero techs are better. I don't think Silver even has notable feat among Gray's arsenal.

Also seeing how flash frozen peoplw are presented differently than being in a block of ice, I doubt that even try to flash freeze people to the bone.

With latest chapter i think they are equal but might change if Gajeel can use DF regularly.

On the contrary. I thought with how the fight between Natsu and Gajeel has went in the latest chapter, it seems clear that Mashima does not view the both of them as equals. There is a considerable difference between their fight, and the one between Gray and Natsu.

In the fight with Gajeel, Natsu has approached it with a playful attitude and regarded it as an opportunity to contest his strength with fellow guild mates. According to Gajeel, Natsu did not take the fight seriously until he busted out LFDM. On the other hand, Gajeel already had one of his strongest move and finisher blocked and parried away by Natsu's bare hands. This reminded me of the previous fight they had in the PL arc. When Gajeel was fresh, while Natsu was exhausted from his fights with 2 members of the Elemental 4; Totomaru and Aria.

Yet Natsu could clash evenly with him, and Gajeel only started turning the tide in his favour after eating metal tiles to replenish his strength.

And once the playing field was even after Natsu consumed his element to restore his own energy, Gajeel had his roar blocked by Natsu's bare hands (blast from the past there, Mashima) and was quickly defeated.

In comparison to the fight between Gray and Natsu. After defeating Wall's Machias and Ur's Historia, then Invel, Gray was worse for wear. Natsu was bloodlusted with the intense desire to kill Zeref, which include getting past any obstacles that stood between Zeref and himself. And in that instance, Gray was the obstacle. Gray's slayer advantage was also negated by the fact that he wields an element which natural weakness is fire.

vs Wahl's Machias
vs Fukuro
vs Rufus

Furthermore, Gray did not utilize a named spell while fighting Natsu. Let alone a devil slayer move, which in theory, should be effective on Natsu. In spite of these, Natsu could not come close to defeat Gray in their fight. While Natsu was portrayed to be quite significantly stronger than Gajeel, the gap between he and Gray was almost imperceptible. Eventually, Gray still had enough in his tank to be the first to make his way to Zeref back at the guild and nearly succeeded in freezing a fresh Zeref with Lost Iced Shell who was actively resisting it. Unless Gajeel defeats Natsu in this fight, I will have to concede Gray is going to be the victor.

It all depends on how much Gajeel is able to push Natsu. I'm going to use Skullion's reaction to FDK Purgatory as the benchmark for the amount of power it takes to outclass Gray, as that was really the attack that started to make Skullion reconsider Diabolos' chances against Fairy Tail. If Natsu has to resort to multiple FDK spells on that level to take out Gajeel, I'm going to give Gajeel the edge. If it only takes a single FDK spell, then I'm going to put them as equals. If it takes less than that and Gajeel gets defeated by LFD, then I'm going to give Gray the edge.

Can we at least agree that if Gray isn't insta-freezing the Thunder God Trio and Gajeel gives Natsu a decent fight, that Gray is probably not going to be insta-freezing Gajeel?

FDK Purgatory was one of the reasons Skullion decided to retreat. In round two of their fights with Diabolos, both Erza and Natsu manage to turn the tables on Kyria and Madmorl respectively. Just as Gray gets back to the ship and is set to join in, Skullion decides it's time to cut and run before fighting Gray again. He knew he was outmatched with his teammates weakened and Wendy neutralizing his offensive magic.
Those factors contributed to Skullion making a calculated decision to retreat as the odds were against his favour.

If he does resort to them, it would depend on which FDK spell Natsu employs to defeat Gajeel. There is an evident difference in the strength of the FDK techniques in Natsu's arsenal. FDK Demolition Fist failed to cause Madmorl to flinch, while Purgatory could at least put him down for a few seconds, only for Madmorl to quickly get back to his feet again with superficial burns.
I guess, technically, we can count that as a loss for Madmorl, similar to how Gray, Erza and Natsu lost to Skullion, Kyria and Madmorl respectively in their first fights. However, if Gray did fight Skullion a second time, he could very well turn the tables like how both Erza and Natsu did. Therefore, if Gajeel were to fall to an attack short of being as powerful as FDK Purgatory, but rather the level of a Demolition Fist, I would hesistate to put him Gray's level. If Mashima decides to let Natsu bust out a new FDK tech which he has not shown before, which is another possibility, I would be even more unsure. :lmao

Of course. Gray's insta-freezing feats are lacklustre, and I have rarely seen him pull that off on any decently strong character. He most commonly succeeds insta-freezing fodders like the grunts and foot soldiers on the enemies' side, but the strongest named character that I can recall him freezing were Tempester. However, that was an Etherious with a devil slayer attack. So the obvious slayer advantage has to be taken into consideration. Apart from that, it was probably Goumon from Avatar, whom he rescued Lucy from in the dungeon.

Gray, however, did froze a half-powered Mercuphobia's laser beam.
And I highly doubt any of Gajeel's ranged attacks possess the same potency as a laser beam from Mercuphobia, even when he was at half of his full power. So I think Gray can and should freeze some of Gajeel's spells, probably the roar and other projectile attacks that he expels from his body, but not really the physical ones. And most certainly not Gajeel's entire body.

I see the main reason Skullion decided to retreat was seeing what Natsu and Erza did to Madmole and Kyria. Skullion really only made the comment about how Fairy Tail were actually strong after that. Up until that point, he considered FT to be pushovers. Natsu really only lost because of motion sickness and Erza lost because she was gimmicked by Kyria's mind control, so they never got a chance to see how powerful they really were. Gray on the other hand got to show pretty much all of his best abilities, and Skullion beat him.

I can't really see Gray matching Natsu's FDK demolition fist, and Purgatory might be a step above Demolition Fist. That's why I say if it takes multiple FDK spells to take down Gajeel, it would put him ahead of Gray. If it just takes one, that would put him around Gray's level. If it takes anything less than that, it would put Gray ahead of Gajeel.

I actually don't doubt that Gray can freeze Gajeel's body. I just don't think it would be a fight ender. Ajeel, Natsu, and Skullion can all break out of being encased in Gray's ice, so Gajeel should be capable of something similar. Gray can probably freeze Gajeel with the effects of Zero Longsword or Ice-Make: Silver, and then Gajeel will eventually break out of the ice, and then they will continue brawling.
