This manga is great. I'm waiting patiently for next chapter because no way Makima is dead. I'm guessing her power/Devil is about to activate. Too much build up for her to end like this.

Makima is living up to her hype. I knew she'd be strong but this is insane. It's almost like Deathnote. All she needs is a name and a sacrifice. Still doesn't explain how she survived being headshot point blank though @Ebony Maw

Makima is great. Will be interesting to see, what her powers and requirements are. For example: Why a temple? Why the height? Besides the sacrifice and names. Does it increase her reach? Is it a gravity or religious demon?

But I like all the characters, they feel very human/relatable.

I hope the manga climbs the ranks and will stay for a looong time. Still my favourite release at the moment.

Oh btw: In the comments at mangastream there are often comparisons to the other work from the mangaka "Fire Punch". I read the whole thing but in my eyes it's vastly different to Chainsawman. So if someone didn't like Fire Punch, don't be afraid and try Chainsawman. It's different and miles better.

I think Makima is either a devilman or has a bunch of contracts. I'm thinking that one she used to kill all of those people was some kinda doll or puppet devil. She has superior vision and sense of smell which makes me think devilman...or devilwoman anyway.

I wondered if she had multiple contracts as well. What she did on the train and what she did at the temple were two completely separate abilities. I prefer she has several Devils she's contracted with than to think this is one Devil with many OP abilities. We already have the Gun Devil being insanely strong to the point where there is a task force being gathered to stop him. Don't believe there could be many of that caliber out there much less needing to form contracts with humans. Several high level demons seems more plausible.

After thinking about it a little, I think she has a similar situation to Denji. I mean it would explain how she was able to heal up, I’ll have to go back to the chapter to see if her clothes were damaged in the attack, since they weren’t afterwards, but her healing with blood would make sense. It would also explain her eyes and senses, like Denji’s teeth being pointed. Multiple contracts is entirely possible, just off the top of my head Aki has at least 2, wolf and curse, but it doesn’t explain her eyes and senses.
The other big mystery is Pochita’s history. She was obviously melded with someone before because several demons have recognized Denji’s chainsawman form, they just comment that he is weaker, which is probably just his lack of knowledge about pochita’s abilities, like how he was surprised when his chainsaws retracted when he went to catch the car bat demon threw at him.

Glad to have someone else interested in the manga, @Belserion , but I wish it were a full thread like most of the other shounen jump series’.

Holy shit. I’m not sure if this is what you we’re trying to point out, but from your pictures it looks like here’s a connection between Makima and the Fox devil! The senses, the eyes looking the same, the references to Kyoto and eating her food in peace, like everything the hunters have put in its “mouth”.... you may be onto something here!

Found a raw copy of the latest chapter, it's in korean and I don't speak a lick of that, but what I can get from the panels is one other devil hunters survived and ended up taking out the sword guy, not dead, just unable to fight, and even dodged the snake devil that chick can summon. In the end she ended up saving Denji while the bad guys drove off in the car they were trying to put Denji in. Kinda looks like she was in rough shape but powered through it to help Denji.

Makima is so cold. Or at least is trying to appear that way. The way Madoka phrased his question made it seem like he suspects Makima of being involved in the massacre. Not so farfetched when we consider that most of the humans died and only the non humans remain, a special group that she personally has an interest in. Also she's now head of the division so she's even gained a promotion out of it.

It was also good to see what Kobeni can do. I figured with her timid attitude she'd have layers underneath. Her agility is amazing. I'm hoping she doesn't really quit despite her mini breakdown And she managed to save Denji so that's a plus.

Some chapter 29 Spoilers from 4chan

- Aki only got two years left to live.
- Denji still not giving a shit, only came to visit Aki to eat hospital food.
- Aki cries for Himeno.

I've seen a couple of theories going around attempting to explain how Makima is so OP, but my favourite so far is that she's a Kitsune. The idea is that Kitsune are, at least in IRL Japanese Folklore, known to be able to posses people. In particular, the victim is usually a beautiful young woman. They also have the characteristic of being highly intelligent, with some being great tricksters. Their skill set can consist of: possession, shape-shifting, generation of fire/lightning, flight, invisibility, highly proficient use of illusions (being almost impossible to distinguish from reality), and bending time and space.

A beautiful woman that is highly intelligent, has heightened senses, shares the same eyes as the Fox Demon, and capable of killing assailants despite being shot in the head? Sounds like it could be Makima to me. Of course she hasn't shown a majority of these powers, but its a fun theory that I think makes a good amount of sense. Manipulation of time and space could explain how she managed to survive the attempted assassination (time manipulation to save herself, space manipulation to literally remove the centre of their torsos). I'm not too keen on this idea because she could have saved her partner in this case, but like I said, its a fun theory.

So we're heading into a training arc. This new guy seems interesting. Reminds me a bit of Yami from Black Clover with that lazy vibe you know is a front for some serious power. Plus the fact that Makima is leaving Denji and Power to his training says a lot.

Gotta say i'm surprised Himeno really died. For some reason I expected a loophole as we'd have gotten with most other shounens. If it stays this way it would be a nod to this series that it's not bothered about killing seemingly important characters. Plus the fact that as the MC who had quite a bit of personal interaction with her, that Denji admits to feeling nothing over her death is another surprise. Even admitted the thought of revenge is too "broody" for him lol. Starting to think our hero is actually an anti-hero

Late to comment on the previous chapter, but I chuckled at how Denji seemed to be on his way to some kind of moral epiphany and was just like "ah well, whatever lol" and then how he and Power answered the 3 questions. I like how this manga doesn't shy away from killing off characters and how different Denji is to a lot of other protags.

I'm looking forward to seeing this high IQ counterattack since I highly doubt these two can come up with anything elaborate Most I can see is them getting in a lucky hit because this guy is faster and stronger than anyone they've come up against I think. Plus if he's the strongest Devil Slayer then that means he might be stronger than even Makima and that is insane to think about.

Chapter 31

I feel like Aki is overdoing it at this point. He only has 2 years left to live and is possibly about to make a deal with the Future Devil whose last 2 contacts cost the users big time. One lost half their life span and the other some of their senses (taste and smell) and both their eyes. I wonder what Aki is about to sacrifice for a revenge it looks like he's unlikely to get.

This chapter made me suspicious of Makima. She's giving off this Aizen "just according to Keikaku" vibe. If she had a hand in organizing the assassinations of so many people including Himeno it's just crazy. Even if she didn't organize it but knew about it and did nothing to stop it she's still guilty. The trainer seems to have this in the back of his mind, threatening to kill her if she became an enemy of humanity. Seems like he knows a little of what she's up to. I think she's manipulating events, but it's left to be seen if she's one of the good guys.

Now the Aki stuff was great. I can't wait to see what the power the Future Devil gives him. His price wasn't even that high. Wanting front row seat to Aki's inevitable painful death is a small thing to someone who's suicidal anyway. I really hope he at least succeeds in his objective. To throw away everything including your life, only to fail in the end would be the worst.
