Have to say, reading Agravity Boys, the series...already showing the big cracks in its setup. Like, at just Chapter 5, the fact that there's just four guys on a deserted planet means the series is pretty limiting from a base in terms of what to do, and all four of the guys kinda act the same (Chris is the smart reasonable one, but that's it). It just doesn't show any real potential to grow without radically changing what it currently is.

#500 My Hero Academia Official Character Book
This should be the one that was playing in Toho's booth. It makes me happy to finally hear Enoki and Uchida as their respective characters (but it also trips me because this is just like hearing Kono Oto Tomare!).

I don't even like Agravity Boys, but it's heavily implied that other characters will appear and the series is still establishing is main characters: we had one chapter for the doctor (the only that isn't a clone of the other 3), one for the scientist and now one for the mechanic. And we'll probably have one more chapter to focus on the pilot character. At this point the series could be what it wants to be, since it hasn't really defined what it currently is.
While the character writing is great, and top 3 in recent 1-2 years of Jump, they are still shonen in a way that constrains Gotouge's full talent, which his/her editor has described as "based on studying novels". Not that novels > manga or anything, I just mean I think she has untapped potential.
Denji is a good example of a character that isn't really shonen to me. Not that he's already some transcendant godlike feat of writing but imagine if Gotouge was writing a character like that.
I think Gotouge could write something like the characters in 3-Gatsu no Lion or come close, now imagining that in a shonen or just any manga in general would be amazing.
What I meant by iconic is something that's really good but also completely original, not based off of any shonen trends/historical shonen hits to make sure her first serialization does well enough to support herself.
And of course true originality is technically impossible but I'm thinking of Araki as he evolved through the parts of Jojo, and started being influenced less by shonen manga and more by interesting facets of everyday real life that he geniusly turned into something that was super interesting to read, somehow.
I think a lot of mangaka need to incorporate more concepts outside of shonen manga. After all, that's what truly made shonen manga great in the first place IMO.
It'd be cool if we could delete all (but the most vital) memories of shonen manga from shonen manga writers and see what they come up with instead.
Where can I find your charts on your website, have you been doing some? Because I've seen some updated ones but I'm having trouble navigating your website.
Demon Slayer is big but these shops aren't promoting it enough. Where I live I haven't seen any book store selling Demon Slayer volumes. Nit even waterstones which would argue is the biggest normal bookstore for manga. The only place I saw DS volumes was in Forbidden Plannet which is all the way in Central London. Theres only like 4 of those stores in the country if I remeber si the MANGA is really niche
Still doesnt make sense for them to be support given his portrayal and they struggled together to take down an UMD. They also came back from fighting one too so its more nonsense.
My hope for this game is that it doesn't just cover the original manga and actually covers other arcs and it's a soccer game with crazy power-ups kinda like Mario Strikers (I know Captain Tsubasa games have always been RPGs, hopefully, this one breaks the mold).
Also, this game reminded me of the Prince of Tennis games... Damn I LOVED the DS game PoT Crystal Drive, spent too much time playing it lol
Edit: So I just googled some info and saw some videos on Youtube about PoT Crystal Drive... Damn can't believe it was released in 2005 (!) and Jump Ultimate Stars too! damn i feel old lol
There's been an update to our forum rules to broaden crediting/sourcing to all series news/announcement, etc. Please read HERE
