Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Extremely disappointed with Witch Guardian. It did nothing new, it is nothing new, and it feels very shallow. The mc is horribly generic and so is the rest of the story.

I'll allow discussion on this, since it seems it's not solely about MHA. Anyway, for those not aware:

If Yozakura is ending, it definitely won't be ending that soon. The soonest I can imagine a new serialization round starting is 5 or 6 issues from now, so nothing will end until the next serialization round starts up.
I completely agree. 5-6 chapters more would match with the extended Vol 4 (in case it bombs) too.

Wait, I thought it was just a term that they used to refer to people that they conducted human experiments on, as stated here:

Either way, this doesn't make much sense to me, It's just like the earrings thing. So people are up in arms because the name of a villain who experiments on humans refers to people who actually experimented on humans? I...don't get it. Horikoshi's names always hinted at the personalities and quirks of their characters and this doesn't feel any different.

forward to where the series goes from here.
TOC is going to be real interesting this year. First time in years Im looking forward to really seeing whats gonna happen. Some established series are set to end and the eight new/unsettled manga running together.
THIS. It was really interesting reading everyone's diverse opinions here as well.
A new golden age of Jump is nigh upon us friends. I'm pumped.
(Andy replacing Luffy as flagship 2025)

I don't get it either but maybe it feels like if you name a racial supremacist villain "Bob N-word" or something. Insensitive and stuff, and cultural context we don't understand.

I still don't understand, but does the opinion of who is launching this controversy count for anything?

Ah. So going with supercow's analogy, I can kind of see how that would be seen as offensive, and maybe Horikoshi will talk about it in the future. He's usually one to apologize if he makes a mistake. Still... I apologize, but I still don't see this as too big a deal. Like, it'd be one thing if it was a hero, but I feel like this is just a situation where Horikoshi did his usual name thing and didn't think it would cause too much controversy. I dunno what name he'll come up to replace it, if he even does. Still, I just don't think it warrants much outrage, honestly. Maybe it's just me. Thank you, though.

EDIT: Okay, thinking about it a little more, the idea was good but the execution could be better. Even then, I just don't think it's something to boycott the series over. Worst case scenario, some of those million followers he has on Twitter are gonna start yelling about this the next tweet he makes.

I have not understood, since when are the hypersensitive parasites of twitter important?
It matters because they're the loudest about stuff like this and it usually paints the fandom in a bad light. Like, this is the first time I'm hearing about this, and I frequent the HeroAca and manga subreddits, so it's probably just a Twitter thing. People still make fun of the fandom for the swimsuit incident in the beginning of Season 3.

And so .....

Who cares? I mean, I can understand it was a real controversy like that of Oda's joke on Mokkoi a few years ago, but do we really have to give weight to the parasites of the Twitter parasites?

What is infuriating about Agravity Boys? It's like you're still at the pre release time thinking the author would do homophobic jokes, because so far the series is harmless kkkk
Infuriating may be a strong word, but I'd still call it a bit disappointing. Geralt, Baba and Saga all basically feel like the same dude, and I just want the author to use alien/space jokes more than poop jokes

I know a lot of you love JJK, and I'm sure it's more than justified, but I just can't get into it.

I can't even really explain why, either. I've tried reading it several times now, but I just lose interest after a few chapters.

The art is good, the powers are cool, but the characters don't really do anything for me. I think I'll just wait for the anime to see if that can change my opinion.
Exactly my problem. Tried getting into it twice as well. Not one of the characters is interesting besides for the teachers and I can’t keep reading a series if the main cast and antagonists aren’t good.

I enjoyed this chapter of Mashle quite a bit more than the first. I felt like the comedy was more varied and better executed, and I had more laughs as a result. I'm starting to like Mash as a character, and even though the story surrounding his new friend was cliche, I liked that they just did it all in one chapter. Even the art seems to have gotten ever so slightly better. I'm hoping it continues this upwards trend!

Undead x Unluck was decent. I realize I like the manga more when it's more focused on the action side of things: the powers of the Negators, the story behind the organization hunting them down, and the fights that happen. This third chapter was better than the first two, though I was soured on it a bit near the end when Andy turned the sex offer down, saying he doesn't like doing it with people who are desperate - to me it doesn't align with what he's been doing before. Still, it was quite enjoyable.

I believe author just wanted to write about a group of friends who are like-minded. I would say Geralt is sufficiently different from others and Baba is okay. The problem is Saga, that character needs work.

You can say Chris is level-headed one, the voice of the reason. Geralt is the book-smart, egoist guy. Baba is a muscle-freak. So what is Saga? Another muscle-headed one, just not as extreme as Baba? Author should develope that character in some way.

I agree that more sci-fi related jokes would be good. More characters and more exploration would be great too. But I like what I see so far. I especially like the guy from the higher dimension, he is great. Hopefully the series will do well, though I don't have much hope.

How in the world is the idea good? It’s like naming a Nazi doctor after a derogatory term for a dead Jew.

I should clarify, I meant the idea of "wanting to hint at a character's personality through the meanings of their name" was good. Using the name for victims of a war crime for someone who perpetrates those very same crimes is the bad execution of it. My apologies! ^^'

Exactly. I don't think anyone who was disappointed has anyone but themselves to blame. Samurai 8 this is not.

BTW, are we going to discuss the current MHA controversy...or do we just keep that in the background for now?
What controversy ?

Hello I am the next villain of BNHA, My name is Hal E. Caust

Also, anyone read that Death Note oneshot? It was meh throughout for me but by the end it became a worthwhile read. Pretty interesting honestly once the pay off hits
