Henceforth, I will be deleting posts that complain about Weekly Shonen Jump having too many/not enough gag/battle/exorcism/sports/etc series.

These posts are not insightful, and do not meaningfully contribute to this thread. Also, this decision is not up for discussion, so posts discussing this decision will also be deleted.~ Halloween

Probably has something to do with Japanese folk actually listening and acting on the necessary precautions instead of filling the streets like dumbasses like I've seen in pretty much every western country.
Hell, Japanese people wore facemasks even before this outbreak. I recall watching Japanese porn once (yeah... once) where the guys wore them as well.

I feel like they're just naturally germaphobes. >_>

Anyway, that is interesting that CSM and JJK are showing growth, while other series are seeing declines. Any ideas as to why?

Because those series have been around longer and have firmly established fanbases, while Jujutsu and Chainsaw are still relatively new and growing.

Yeah, anticlimactic, I know.

East Asian people wear for a variety of reasons, going from protecting themselves during cold and flu season to protect themselves from smog. It's pretty much cultural to wear one, whereas in the West people will judge you for going out in the streets with one.

Also, CSM's growth is probably due to word of mouth and numerous mentions in awards, JJK should be following the anime announcement and word of mouth as well.

Yeah, but I swear, you should see the streets in some countries. It's absurd. People are just completely mental. We're in the middle of a full on worldwide pandemic and I still see parks filled with people with no masks, people going for a stroll, out on their bikes, etc, like, hello guys? Please make an effort to turn on your brains.

Also those trends are nothing new, TPN HQ and MHA have been falling for a while, JJK and CSM have been rising for a while (and CSM is getting free promo from the stores due to the award), and Kimetsu is just kimetsu, it just does its thing.

What is the problem here? If your peak is 600k selling 500k still means you're selling less, even if you're still selling well.

I was working in S Korea until the 24th last month and in the last couple days before I left, every single person I saw outside was wearing a mask. I'd imagine Japan is much the same (in the cities at least).

Regarding Kimetsu no Yaiba possibly ending, did we ever get those two Giyuu chapters by the BozeBeats guy in a volume? Since they could add something like that to fill one up if there's not enough chapters (or Gotouge could do few chapters about a different character after it ends, like Ass Class did to fill its final volume).

No need to hide your....viewing habits...with us.
But facemasks are nothing new in Japan, or really any other Asian country. It's a combination of germaphobia, fashion, and sometimes shyness.

Anyways, I think that the reason for their growth is probably because they are newer series. At least that's my take on it anyways.

It's common amongst females as pale white skin is high regarded among East Asia (gyaru culture notwithstanding).
Vietnamese women wear so many cover when going out that we jokingly compare them with ninja (google ninja lead for more info).

The spanish editorial that is releasing Jujutsu Kaisen has said they will release volume 0 after volume 3. I wonder if Viz will also release volume 0 or if there is any info about that.

I don't know with Viz honestly. I hope to a deity that they'll release it after they release volume 3. Whatever the case may be, Volume 0 should not be forgotten.

Anyways, for those who wanted to see a higher quality scan of the Yuuna spread..

In my country (Germany) volume 3 and 0 were released simultaneously as well. That's probably how the releases are intended.
