Currently yes I think Teach is stronger but pre TS? No.

And Ace himself is no big deal all things considered. Plus Jinbei is a Fishman Karate master so his attacks should be more effective on Ace. I always wondered if they had used Haki or not.

Ace is strong, strong enough to be a commander on WB (but that in itself doesn't mean considering how poor a showing most of them had at Marineford), but he's arrogant and proud. I think an experienced NW captain could hold his own against him.

Haki but also how many water based attacks he used, which would've surely given him the advantage. Ace's knowledge of haki is ambiguous; we know he has CoC but nothing else confirmed in the manga; though his use of CoA was noted in the novels.

@Demonspeed Ace was strong enough to be considered for the position of Warlord. That has to count for something imo.

I love Ace, but Oda did a pretty shitty job if Ace is indeed stronger than Vista/Jozu.

It is just my humble opinion based on what was shown in the manga. I don't rate Ace very highly in terms of fighting capabilities. From portrayal point of view, I think anyone who has decent Haki-skills owns Ace badly. Just my two cents.

I think Ace is a victim of Haki not being fully fleshed out before the timeskip. So you can't tell if he had Armament or not, you just know he has Conquerors Haki.
Also this is turning into a power level discussion, which is amusing

This sums it up pretty much. By the way, there is nothing wrong with powerlevel discussions as long as it is kept in a civilized and respectful manner. This is a battle manga after all.
