I don't think he expected Jiraiya to show up. Which is why when Naruto used the Rasengan against Sasuke Kakashi was shocked he has such a move.
That revenge reasoning makes sense, but Kakashi was the only Konoha jounin who had two students make it to the finals. It was honestly unfair to just train one of them instead of both. Heck, you can even train them BOTH side by side and have them learn new moves (Kakashi did show Naruto Rasengan in Shippudeen, meaning he could have taught Naruto Rasengan at the same time as Sasuke using Chidori)
Ebisu is pathetic, this guy lost to Naruto 3 chapters into the story

I dunno, I remember some mention of that, somewhere. To be fair though, Kakashi was probably shocked because he either didn't expect Naruto to master that or Jiraiya to teach Naruto rasengan so early on.

Could he have? HOw would Sasuke have handled that? And would Kakashi really have taught Naruto rasengan, whereas Jiraiya took a chance? I think Kakashi was more concerned about Sasuke and figured that not giving Sasuke sole attention would cause issues because it's not like Naruto would turn evil or go bad. We did see how jealous Sasuke got when Naruto beat Gaara when he couldn't.

However, the 9 tails power has been pretty inconsistent, in the manga.
Ranging from appearing more powerful than all the other tailed beasts, all the way to being able to be pinned by a giant frog, or by a ninjitsu ability

Now, we know that 9 tails jinchurichi have been made before and it has not been stated (as far as I recall) to be more difficult than for another tailed beast

Also, although I agree the 3rd Raikage might not be able to beat the 9 tails, I feel you guys might be underestimating him a bit

He showed he could chop off all of the 8 tailed beasts arms with his fingering technique (during a 'battle' where he wasn't trying to kill/destroy the 8 tails) [do I think he was holding back? No, probably not. But it's easier to fight to kill, then to incapacitate]

He also demonstrated that the 8 tails could not physically damage him

He also could fight the 8 tails to the point where they both collapsed from exhaustion

And he showed that he could recapture the 8 tails multiple times - I don't believe it was ever stated he wanted the 8 tails destroyed (it was a valuable asset, after all)

I'm afraid that nothing has shown him incapable of doing the same to the 9 tails - fighting it to the point where it could be sealed

Sure, sasuke lost family, but never was loathed by the village, discriminated against by the people. On the contrary, people saw him in high esteem and tried to be careful not to hurt his feelings, evident from how he was treated at academy. Not a single soul there wished bad for him
See naruto instead. No family,loathed and discriminated for his no fault and to top it off, he never knew why. People either made fun of him or wished he would disappear, had no friends and even was discriminated at academy, even by teachers. Certainly far more pitiful than sasuke.

This wasn't about Sasuke vs Naruto and whether their trauma was justified though. Plus, like some had mentioned, they retconned the shit out of this kind of thing to point where it made no sense. Plus, I don't really know how I would compare Naruto being neglected and treated like an outcast (not really) to your only living relative killing your entire clan right in front of you. They both kinda suck... Naruto just dealt with his better, probably because it was less traumatic.

So, crush reinforced after getting to know him, getting trashed multiple times , even when he tried killing her twice makes mores sense than the one based on the respect gained due to the similarity of the situation and how hinata notices subtle naunces of naruto and how he rose himself up from the drag to one of the best working his ass off ? Tht is what i meant.

I didn't say it made more sense, I said that the pathos involved makes it more interesting and relatable on some level. Well, except maybe the whole killing part. I wasn't endorsing their pairing after that point, and it's obvious they only ended up together at the end because EVERYONE had to be fucking and having OP kids for Boruto.

Gambunta dropped from the sky on him while he was prepping a tailed beast bomb and then Minato teleported away, wouldn’t say that diminishes his strength. On the other hand, there are sealing jutsus, many could use though there are costs. As for the 3rd raikage, he went with an elite squad, including the 4th raikage, and used one of the So6P's treasured tools to seal the 8 tails.

Now the 3rd definitely is a force, but those feats mentioned are with regards to the 8 tails. At best, he tied with him one on one. We saw from the war arc, the Kurama at half chakra was on another tier from the 8 tails. I just don't see the 3rd on his own able to fight Kurama to the point where he can seal him, much less defeat him.

Well, all tailed beasts are susceptible to Mangekyou hax/Hashirama's wood - though I don't believe it was ever mentioned that Uzumaki sealing techniques were especially good vs tailed beasts (I think it just looks that way because all of the jinchuriki for the 9 tails have been Uzumaki), even if they were a clan renowned for their sealing abilities

On the other hand, there are sealing jutsus, many could use though there are costs. As for the 3rd raikage, he went with an elite squad, including the 4th raikage, and used one of the So6P's treasured tools to seal the 8 tails

So the Raikage managed with fewer people (were all the elite people out of Konoha at the time of the 9 tails attack)?

Also, I see no reason why the Raikage can't use those tools, if Minato is allowed to use his tools (his special kunai) or Gamabunta summon - it isn't like he [the Raikage] didn't have access to them, when needed
Facts are that:
The Raikage managed multiple times to 'beat' the 8 tails - and one time, it appears from the manga that he did it by himself
The 8 tailed beast could never hurt the 3rd Raikage and we have no direct evidence (other than pure speculation at how much the 9 tails appeared more powerful in the war arc) that the 9 tails could either

We also have no idea, so it's not really a very solid foundation for a point, that Kumogakure didn't have other methods for sealing the 8 tails. The So6Ps tools were just incredibly useful/powerful, so of course they'd use them normally. I reckon most villages have access to high level sealing abilities (in the same way I feel most have access to high level genjutsu abilities) due to how useful they are.

We saw from the war arc that the 9 tails' power could fluctuate to a high level - I don't see the flashback 9 tails beating all the other 8 beasts

I just don't see the 3rd on his own able to fight Kurama to the point where he can seal him, much less defeat him.

Why not? Because he got hurt (by himself) vs the 8 tails?
Perhaps all the other tailed beasts are super weak, rather than the 9 tails being so strong (no, I don't believe this - I think that this was just the usual inconsistent writing, used to introduce a few cool scenes into his dying story)

I could easily say that I don't see Minato, on his own, being able to fight the 8 tails to the point where he can seal him

From discussing how interesting characters are, to how powerful they are - and it seems pretty clear from Naruto that the more powerful a character is, the more interesting they certainly aren't

The fillers are skippable though.

But tbh there are a couple of enjoyable filler arcs (G-8 for example is pretty universally loved) and some episodes here and there which is stuff Oda cut from the manga. Plus the parts that tie in with the movies and stuff if you're gonna watch those. For better or worse I'm going to just watch everything if I rewatch the anime.
