This is possibly the greatest list that has ever been assembled. You should feel proud @syx. We all should.

Sasori was great. I love that pick as much as I love the Chiyo ones. Powerful without being stupidly OP. And just a good character all around. Him and Deidara were far and away the best Akatsuki team in my eyes.

Rock Lee was somebody that just had to be on my list. There were a lot of underdogs that weren't really underdogs in Naruto but he was the real deal. And his Bruce Lee inspired design was so distinct and good. The contrast between him and Neji was a great thing too. (Never thought he'd tie Sasuke though)

Then there's Sasuke. He started out as a pretty good character IMO. With his whole insecurity and drive for power leading him into the darkness. But I honestly think he was sort of ruined by the fact that Kishi couldn't let him just be a villain. As a villain I think he could have been terrific. Instead he tried all kinds of gymnastics to try and deflect blame so Naruto could get what he wants. And it ruins the characters and does massive damage the story. Because of how far over the moral event horizon he went and his lack of any real redemptive arc makes the big takaway from Naruto saving him that "Nepotosim can save anyone". And that's really shitty.

Hiruzen was just turned into an incredibly poor leader, following the Uchiha retcon...

If you are arguing that Sarutobi was an awful leader [following retcon], then sure, I agree - tbh he was a pretty terrible guy before the retcon, going by how he treated Naruto

If you are arguing that Danzou should've been locked up, as the lunatic he was - then, again, I agree (man had stolen eyes embedded into his own arm ffs)

If you are arguing that some other character should've been Hokage, instead of Sarutobi, then I'm not sure I agree - he was the most powerful ninja pre-retcon... and although he wasn't after the retcon, the Uchiha had been turned into absolute monsters

All except a very minor few (Shisui, perhaps, and a load of un-named Uchiha), none of which seemed to be as powerful as Sarutobi (or, if you want to argue that Shisui was [which I have no idea, as little to nothing was shown in the manga], then Shisui seemed to really respect Sarutobi as a leader - which should instantly disqualify him from leadership, tbh)

Post tobirama's death, all others like homura, koharu and danzo were the inner circle of hiruzen, when he was hokage actually in position of power alongside him where their votes mattered. Did we see kagami anywhere there ? No, we didn't , which was due to a certain individual actually laying down a policy tht uchihas be kept from village core as far as possible., confined to outskirts, given a lollipop of police force, while keeping away from core administration or governance-actual policy related matters as far as possible.

Leadership ? Sure, not a question tht hiruzen was best choice, but to not even be included in the very core circle of hokages advisors ? Surely, tht is something else and let's not forget this is the very same man who saved danzo and others including hiruzen multiple time with his doujutsu. He was the very rational among uchihas, and despite tht he was kept away from core.

As for shisui, i meant hiruzen knew from itachi tht danzo killed him when he was trying to stop the coup with his doujutsu, but yet he was never brought to justice.

My point is simple, tht despite being one of the best to have will of fire, but just because uchiha, policies don't allow him to be part of village core (How ironic ! Tobirama himself says kagami was one of the best he had met, who was not bound by clan, yet his very policy did him injustice) and for what ? In 5 gen, we got madara, who made some people so paranoid abt uchihas, who btw had already left the village and was a rogue ninja when uchihas actually trusted senjus and not their leader.
And they were rewarded so handsomely for tht.

Now, we can defo relate who & which policies was danzo referring to actually when genocides of multiple clans were done or used it to keep talented and worthy uchihas away from the core of the village.

You don't segregate/suppress people by allowing them free reign of the city, by allowing them to work the same jobs as other people, go to the same schools as other people, have relationships/spend time with other people, have them directly protecting your leader (if you distrust them so much, you'd worry that they might do something rash and kill the Hokage/whoever)...
You certainly don't put them into such an obvious position of power, as the police force, if you want to keep them powerless - you make them all become shopkeepers or something

It's hard to buy that bullshit switcheroo when we see how much Sasuke was loved and respected, whilst he was still a child - when people genuinely hated Itachi for murdering a clan of Konohagakure (the Uchiha), rather than just saying 'well, Uchiha will be Uchiha - they're a more violent race, after all'

Had Kishimoto wanted to make the Uchiha appear segregated/suppressed at the start of his manga (not just pretending that they always had been, later on), he could've easily done this during the first half of his manga

He could've:

• Had people visibly trying to avoid Sasuke
• Had anti-Uchiha graffiti on the walls/in the backgrounds of scenes
• Had citizens saying snide remarks during Sasuke's fights
• Had Sasuke/the Uchiha not been allowed to go to the same Ninja accademy as children from the other clans

There are numerous ways he could've done this, both obviously and subtly (for example: he could've had a single scene of children's parents dragging them away from Sasuke, like they did for Naruto), and he did none of them

Hell, if he'd wanted to get ideas for 'segregation', he need only open a [real world] history book. There are plenty of examples to find inspiration from

U can blame the bad writing / improper portrayal (proving them right) , but tht in no way takes away the fact tht policies laid down by an individual, and very same policies used to justify genocides are equally responsible. If we had Obito, sasuke and by extension let's say madara too, we also had kagami, shisui and itachi as well.
If uchihas are to be blamed for revolt, the very circumstances tht led them to the revolt and individuals are in equal blame too. Simple .

I liked lee as a character , but he was way too sidelined later on. Got his moments helping gai in the 8th gate, but tht's not much. If in war, i only remember him doing anything worthwhile in fillers. And best was him hitting edo madara , breaking tht link with juubi.

I'm genuinely surprised and pleased with this Sasuke ranking. My main problem with him was the various convenient asspulls in P.2 and he was gifted power and abilities left and right, curse mark and EMS. We had that bird, reverse summoning Manda, Amaterasu on Bee and then kagutsuchi, kirin which wasn't used again, smh. Everytime, it seemed he was down for the count, Kishi was like hold my beer.
And on top of that, there's how deluded he was about himself, some of the things he said had me in tears laughing.

But hey at least adult Sasuke is cool

I will try to keep it as short as possible. I have told you that there are three characters I consider the worst in anime/manga history. Obito is one of them. And here we have the second one, Uchiha Madara. So, who is Uchiha Madara you might ask?

When I look at him, I see two kind of persons. Two of which 99% of you have encountered in your live.

The one person is that guy who blatantly uses every possible cheat in a game against you, defeats you, and boasts how great he is in the most disgusting way imaginable.

And now for the other.

The other person is that one guy who blatantly uses every possible cheat in a game against you, but is still unable to best you.

Madara is always one of these two. Always. No grey area. Nothing inbetween.

An utter, boring, dull, selfish villain who rode his own dick more often than all por-- let me stop here.

A villain who should have no right to exist in any work. He took all the major Ls there are in the manga and couldn't accomplish anything on his own. His drive, motivation, and reasonings would give those of President Trump a run for his money. He is a freaking laughing stock. A failure as a villain, as a character, literally at everything.

Retrospectively speaking, he - hand in hand with Obito - completely annihilated this once masterpiece of a series.

It was like for pure shock value when the characters literally forgot about him three panels after his death, Kishimoto made Hinata's inner monologue about her crush on Naruto again with Neji's corpse next to them, pure cringe, not even a word about him.

Man, it sucks that Neji didn't have some sort of spinning technique that he could use to repel those giant spikes.

Anyway, he was my favorite character in the series. His Byakugan managed to see through the actual writing in the series and he knew everything was going to be bullcrap since Part 1. Godspeed Neji.

Not knowing the non-manga material anywhere near as much as you do, it's hard to say for certain; but I don't recall any of the Hyuuga being in any high-ranking leadership positions (and if they were, I'm sure that it'd be possible to find another clan who missed out on being chosen for this kind of responsibility).
Perhaps they'd also be justified in plotting a violent overthrowal of Konohagakure?

Yeah this is well put. I don't know why Kishi made Madara so strong. Like, why was he able to use basically everything? Wasn't he strong enough with just his own jutsu? smh
