I find it very underrated tbh. Maybe it's long/slow so it must had been annoying to read weekly, but nowadays it's perfectly fine and enjoyable (and it gives plenty of screen time to side characters, in a series that people complain is too Deku centric). The anime is way too slow at times though, before the raid there's like two whole episodes of characters talking about what to do lol.

Having re-read it recently I certainly agree. It was his longest arc up to that point if you read it at once it is a lot more pleasant. Kirishima got to shine and mah boi Lemillion went all out. IMO it stepped up the game and showed that Horikoshi might get to a point where he actually does something drastic (like in the current arc)

I had the Shogun Assassination Arc - Gintama ranked as number 6.

Not sure how many people it'd surprise to state that I also found the Sasuke Retrieval arc to be far superior to the Pain Invasion arc

Pain was killed off far too early and Naruto was entirely undeserving of that win

But it gave birth to a critical tool of manga/anime analysis: TALK NO JUTSU. Imagine a world where that was not a term.

Great choice and I am happy it is close to the Top 10. Almost chose it simply because it was my first exposure to One Piece as a 10-year-old. Even remember that it was the Episode where Ace gets first introduced.

Ow, no one else chose Impel Down arc.
I feel like its One Piece's strongest arc. Also it's the one arc I feel Luffy did not have a lot of plot armor. There was a real sense of danger as he went from one level to another.
Also Magellan was a fantastic arc boss.

So did tht other arc too, even lesser.

Impel Down was amazing. I only chose another arc because that arc is more "representative" of the best that One Piece has to offer. Impel Down broke all the rules though and I might have chosen it if Mr. 2 had actually died and their were consequences to his sacrifice.

Well, tht comes in a bit of plot armor, which is still comparatively less + team efforts too, not luffy alone shining. Solidified it for next arc...the best MF.

I couldn't get past the second chapter. Not because I thought it was bad, but because all the violence was too much for me. And all the disturbing stuff I heard about later made me go 'nope'. It makes me sad because I feel like I'm missing out on an awesome story.

This one as a huge nostalgia bonus from me, because this is when I got into anime. Still was completely new to it back then and was utterly fascinated by this arc. Maybe it's not the best arc objectively speaking, but I'll always have fond memories of this one.

Hopefully this won't be the last Gintama arc on this list, but good to see a bunch of people voting for this one

Also the Jailbreak arc was really something else back then, a stunning mind game from start to finish. But after seeing how the rest of the manga turned out, it soured the whole experience a bit for me.
