I can understand those who have only seen the anime: Kite's first appearance was pretty awkward in the anime, like how can both Gon and him forget about their encounter, makes you think they barely knew each other, and totally eclipses a great part of Kite's character when they omited the details of their interaction in whale island. It also makes no sense when you consider Gon's intense reaction with Pitou and all...plus, Kite was pretty stern in his introduction and seemed like the guy who would shoot, then ask questions later.

Kite's introduction is my only major reproach to an otherwise great anime adaptation of the manga.

I think it is a valid first impression, for manga readers as well. He hit first, explained second. Generally not a good way to introduce yourself, even if he did have an excuse.

I do also love Kaito though. Honestly, I can't think really any genuinely bad characters in HxH.

Hard shell, soft core. A good guy, who's got a surprisingly smart head on his shoulder. And his power is really unique and interesting.​

Shoutout to my homeboy Knuckle.

Not only did he fight bravely in the palace and save his master's life (although the latter got a bit ~awkward~), but he also treated animals well by feeding strays and releasing tied up pets in villages following the ant massacres. Knuckle respected Gon as an opponent and offered constructive feedback during their initial battles, and his contribution to naming Gon's special attack ja-janken was great comedy, hah! Knuckle's easily one of the characters with the most heart, and I'm a bit disappointed he didn't make top 10.

We know what they say about hunters and animals, hmm?

Our brocon. Hisoka's best buddy, and quite similar in terms of thinking. Never struck me as evil though, just with his very own twisted sense of what's right and what's wrong. Being a Zoldyck is hard, I must say. He doesn't hold a candle to the best Zoldyck, but besides that he's an interesting character with cool powers. His whole design is just a bit too emo for me.

For me the best Royal Guard by far. Play- and cheerful, but also fiercely loyal. Her character development was just... Basically turned from a simple monster cat to a very human, understanding character. Always respected Meruem's wishes and wanted to make him happy, which I think she managed to, ultimately.
Her whole exchange with Gon while trying to protect Komugi still gives me goosebumps. Her last fight with Gon still gives me goosebumps. That whole conflict probably is my absolutely favourite part in HxH (not counting single scenes).



In short I can't stress enough that I'm a big Pitou fan, easily the best developed ant right after Meruem. Would've loved to see her in the Top 10, but at least she came close. Guess it's only right she makes way for the King.

Definitely the best Hunter introduced in the Chimera Ant arc. He's got that swag. A real man and bro, sorta what I imagine a not so crazy Uvogin would be like. His powers are also cool and entertaining. In short, he's a true chad

I might like Illumi more than Hisoka. He became more and more interesting as the story advanced and it's clear that even compared to the other Zoldycks he has a screw loose. Unlike Hisoka he seems to have a clear goal, which is unknown for now. His relationship with Killua, as well as Hisoka is interesting. Would love to know how they first met. Hopefully we'll see him go all out soon.

Pitou is great but she is the RG I like the least. A bit overrated IMO .

Morau was definitely the most impressive Pro Hunter during the Chimera Ant arc, even during the election they hyped his feats. What is even more impressive is that he was far from being at his best during the raid. Sensible and smart. His ability is extremely versatile. He is very intelligent but the way he devises strategies in battle seems more "conventional" than the likes of Gon and Hisoka for example.

I found Illumi quite beautiful (when he's not full of needles), even though there's nothing that special about his look appart from his long hair. Every story needs a brocon I guess. Well, the eldest child often has it hard, so it's no surprise they often turn out weird. I love his duo with Hisoka, they fit well with each other.

I love Pitou's design and powers, I also love cats so...quite the likable fella for me.

Agree. Pre-Castle Invasion it was all Morel (though Knovs support abilities are insanely OP). And he formulated the majority of the invasion plan as well. Though he made lot of mistakes during the invasion, as he even himself admitted. But even in that case, it was really his students who carried it - Shoot and Knuckle stalling Yupi as long as they did really changed the whole thing. And Knuckle changed Yupi as a person, which was the only reason any of them survived.

The guy had close to zero rest prior to the invasion (after defeating two ant squadron leaders and sieging the whole city with smoke puppets for days), he started with 35% of peak condition. It was even stated that he made the mistake mostly due to his physical and mental exhaustion. The dude did the impossible! He deserves his triple star promotion.

Heck yeah, Morel's cool as sin. He wears sunglasses indoors, is a brilliant friend and can outwit pretty much anyone.

Some of my favourite moments are when he destroys Cheetu's ability, when he flips off Knuckle in the palace, and when he greets Killua as his respectful comrade in the hospital after initially having made fun of him and Gon for leaving the NGL before. Even at his level he's not above admitting his mistakes, and that shows real character.
