I was hoping for a more eventful chapter after the break, but I guess Nakaba wanted there to be more buildup to the meeting of the two protagonists. At least we got to see Hendy and Dreyfus and the Boar's Hat again. Dreyfus has back problems now, so I guess we won't be seeing him in action anymore. I wonder if this means that the gigantification power he inherited from Fraudrin has been passed on to someone else? Dreyfus was seemingly paired up with Vivian at the end of NNT, so maybe the two of them now have a kid who inherited that magic?

I guess the fact that there's an Ouroboros symbol on the cape and that 'Ouroboros' is the activation phrase for the sword were hints that Varghese was in some way connected to Meliodas all along. Ironside said that Varghese had received that sword from Arthur(technically he said "his majesty", but we know he hates Meliodas and would not address him like that), so that presumably happened back when Arthur and Meliodas were still on good terms. Perhaps Meliodas will teach Percival how to use it properly, as something more than a kitchen knife?

Also, I'm excited to find out what the next step of the story is going to be. Almost the entire journey so far has been about reaching Liones, so there now needs to be a new long-term goal for the party to strive towards. It could be something related to Tristan or the last remaining KOTA, or perhaps something that gives them a chance to meet the remaining 3 Sins, or maybe the Guinevere plot point will now take center stage. The Kingdom Infiltration arc in NNT lasted from chapter 60 to 100, so in theory the next stage of the story could actually be the plan to take down Arthur(or more like snap him out of his madness), but it still feels a bit too early for that to me.

I understand it. However, when we consider the abilities of the Commandments, we must take into account the fact that vulnerability to the Commandments is their natural property, while immunity from them is an acquired property. That is, literally, the Commandment itself, when absorbed by someone, does not give vulnerability to it, everyone is ALREADY vulnerable to its action by default. It gives immunity. Here, it would be more logical to assume that the Demon King originally did not intend to give a specific demon from the commandment squad more than one Commandment. At the same time, from the information in the manga, the only logical conclusion would be that two or more Commandments will simply block the vulnerabilities to each other. Well, that is, what reason to believe that if Piety and Truth give immunity to each other in different characters, they will lose this property in one?
The way I look at it, both the Commandments and Graces make the holder immune to the effect of the curses, presumably due to them holding a portion of those gods' power. With Graces this works across the board and with the Commandments this works for everything for except each Commandment's respective curse. Why would the Graces be able to resist every curse and the Commandments every curse but one, if they both represent the same thing? To me this suggests that each Commandment was deliberately designed to keep the holder vulnerable to its curse, which fits well with the idea that the Demon King was using them to mess with his subjects, or perhaps to test their loyalty or something. I don't know if we'll ever get an actual answer to the question though.

For the magic abilities, it is worth noting that the three names that appeared on bottles in NnT each have two names in Rising Impact. (Gawain is not a confirmed character and a Knight of Apocalypse in MnYK yet, but he will be one soon enough!)

Lancelot's is called Shining road and also 月の導き.

Tristan's is called Falling Star and also 風の流星群.

Gawain's is called Rising Impact and also 太陽の光跡.
It's not always reliable so take it with a grain of salt, but Deepl translates those as:
"Guidance of the moon"
"Meteorites of the wind"
"Sunlight trace"
The second one is probably accurate, because in the trailer for the movie we see Tristan conjuring up meteorites in the air before slamming his swords into the ground and creating a column of wind around himself. It fits perfectly. Applying the same idea to Shining Road, perhaps the guidance of the moon refers to the attack's ability to home in on the enemy, like some sort of a moon-based GPS? Gloxinia's spear had a healing form called 'Moon Rose', so this wouldn't be the first time that the moon is associated with the fairy clan.

As I haven't seen the movie, are you saying it retcons what the manga showed as what triggered it - Meliodas switching sides? It's true that we were told the two races were basically always at odds, but the handful of glimpses we were given of their conflict nearly all had the goddesses as the offensive party - Rou and his his group Betraying Stigma due to either village being wiped outr just for saving a demon, Derieri's hatred because of them taking hostages and killing her sister, and the killing of the real Gowther's lover. The demons may be bad, but based on what we were shown, they were pushed towards that due to situations. And not sure how dependable the other races siding with the goddesses is when we know they're big on mental manipulation.
The movie establishes that the demons and goddesses had always been fighting each other, because the SD and the DK saw it as a way to maintain balance in the world. Apparently this was something they were born to do, which is presumably related to why Chaos created them. The SD refers to this as the Holy War, which could be seen as a retcon. It's also debatable whether their desire to keep the conflict going in perpetuity contradicts the fact that the goddesses eventually got desperate and triggered the COED, especially since that involved Gowther manipulating things to put an end to the war.

While it's true that the goddesses can manipulate people with their magic, we have seen this in action through characters like the Pleiades, as well as Dahlia and Dubs in the movie. It's easy to tell when someone is under the effect of mind control because their behavior becomes very erratic and overzealous. We also saw through Deathpierce that the effect wears off either after a while or when the caster is unable to keep it going. Realizing what had been done to him made Deathpierce despise the goddesses, so the other clans' attitude towards them would probably be similarly negative if they had all been unwillingly dragged into the war. The handful of sympathetic demons aside, it's not hard to see why the rest would be hated by the other clans.

I would've assumed the number underground would have been less then those captured, which should have been quite a lot since it was Zeldris and his commandment that captured them. And I was under the impression that those underground were saved by Nanashi, or at the very less most of them. Remember that despite it's power, Chaos still got sealed by it's creations. So I don't think it's strange that as powerful as he is, Arthur would still be cautious, especially if it's as I believe and Chaos can't directly destroy things.
The people captured were mainly those whom had fallen under Piety's mind control, which is why Merlin had to trick Zeldris into deactivating the curse. It's hard to say how the number of people captured would compare to that of the people living in hiding, especially when factoring in that the number of people on the surface also included people from Liones that fell under Piety during the demons' attack on Liones. This is further complicated by the fact that Nakaba never drew a wide shot accurately showing the number of people. The panels he did draw showed a few dozen people on the surface, a couple dozen underground and about a dozen that Nanashi had tried to save either successfully or unsuccessfully. It's also worth noting that the number of captured people was constantly decreasing during the occupation of Camelot. In chapter 234 Orlondi says "the demons are preying on all the brainwashed humans and sacrificing them in order to break the goddess' seal." The demons occupied Camelot for over a month, so who knows how many people were killed before the Sins even got there. And yeah, it makes sense that Arthur would be cautious of Meliodas and I also think there could be some truth to Chaos being largely a power of creation rather than that of destruction.

I missed that. I suppose it's possible, but that seems unlikely given the timeframe we saw - It doesn't seem like a lot of time past between Ludociel saving Gil and arriving in Liones, since the Sins saving Eli and the citizens happen concurrently, unless you meant Ludociel did it before saving Gil. As for Talisker, I think raze is suppose to mean eliminating them in that context, because Ordo's actions did scare off the fairies and giants, yet Talisker was still upset at them just being chased out and did remark about Arthur's goal being no other races existing to threaten humanity. Ardbeg also mentioned wiping out the other races and returning Britannia to humans.
It was never elaborated on so it's hard to say what exactly happened. All we know is that the alliance between Liones and the goddesses was formed at night and that by the time the battle started the next day, the giants and fairies had not only managed to gather their forces but also travel to the battlefield somewhere between Liones and Camelot, a distance of at least 100 miles from both Megadozer and the Fairy King's Forest. As for Talisker, you could take it that way, but to me "raze the earth" sounds more like Talisker just wanted Ordo to destroy the Gorge to prevent the fairies and giants from ever inhabiting it again. This kind of a less violent approach is consistent with his initial attempt to simply get Ordo to stop associating with them. Arthur desiring a land in which the other races don't exist to threaten humanity doesn't conflict with this approach either, because we know that the demons, goddesses and fairies have their own separate realms to live in, and that the giants are buddies with the fairies and could presumably live alongside them in the Fairy Realm. The demons are to be slaughtered, but the fairies and giants can just be forcefully evicted from Britannia. It's worth noting how similar this is to Deathpierce's view on things. He also wanted to build a kingdom exclusively for humans, but most of his hate was directed at the demons and goddesses.

I brought up Ironside not merely because we see him lying, but that we were shown him lying to an entire town and having them believe him. If random people can believe that Meliodas and Liones are evil, they can also believe that Camelot was wiped out with only a few survivors. Unless we were misled with the original series, or Camelot's population was far larger then it appeared, there was more then just a few survivors from the previous Holy War. Seems more like the claim of a few survivors is more meant for sympathy then the situation as it was. That being said, the reason I believe that said potential conflict would have involved more then just Arthur and the Sins is that Arthur's goal involves destroying Liones, not merely the Sins, and we have had several comments mentioning Liones itself being in conflict with Arthur and Camelot. I suppose Liones could be a target just because of Meliodas, though we haven't seen characters having trouble calling out the Sins themselves as a threat. And perhaps it is merely due to plot, but Liones doesn't seem to be actively pushing back against Arthur's forces.

As far as we saw, Donny wasn't aware of much of the current situation, unlike Howzer - he knew about Lancelot's secret mission, and according to his own words, that they're in a war against Arthur. He also showed a greater concern about the CoED being used, with Donny seemingly not being aware of what the demons being sealed would mean, meaning he doesn't know what Meliodas is. It would come down to what Howzer actually taught Donny, which given his personality might not have been much, and what Donny would of picked up after leaving.
It's a bit of a stretch to say that the people of Sistana believed Ironside when we only saw a couple of lines of dialogue from them, including one saying "horrid, if it's true" which clearly displays skepticism. It also shouldn't be that difficult to convince people that Camelot was wiped out with only a few survivors when anyone can go visit the giant graveyard where the kingdom used to be. That's pretty strong evidence in support of the claim, especially when every adult in Britannia lived through the Holy War and should have at least a rough idea of what happened back then. As for Camelot's population, it's entirely feasible that almost all of them were killed during the events of NNT. Galand's attack alone leveled about a tenth of the kingdom, then you had the demons conquering it and using the souls of the mind controlled citizens to fuel the opening of the COED(potentially for over a month), and then lastly the DK showed up to vaporize almost everyone who was left behind. I mentioned earlier that Nakaba doesn't really draw scenes with large crowds so it's difficult to judge the numbers accurately, but we only saw the Sins rescuing a few dozen people, which included citizens of Liones, and then Nanashi rescued about a dozen more. For comparison, the graveyard shown in the movie was massive, with at least thousands if not tens of thousands of graves. I'd say Arthur's conflict with Liones is largely because Meliodas is the king in charge of its forces. It was shown in the final chapter that Meliodas is very popular among his subjects, so even sealing him away wouldn't make the kingdom stand down. Destroying them is the only way.

Donny was only ever a trainee knight and one who ran away some time ago to boot. Howzer not telling him about the details of the conflict, let alone any secret missions, isn't really on the same level as him not correcting Donny's basic misconceptions about recent historical events. Likewise with the COED, the only people who would know anything about that are those who were involved with the original Holy War or the conflict between the Sins and Liones back when Fraudrin was trying to obtain the pieces. Everyone pretty much forgot about the COED after the Ten Commandments had been freed, which in hindsight proved to be a really stupid move that almost resulted in Sistana getting wiped out and Meliodas being sealed away. Still, if even the Sins didn't care about the COED after it had served its purpose, it's not too surprising that normal people wouldn't even know about it.

What happened to Dreyfus? He was one of the strongest "normal" Humans.

I expected something more exciting as well. But a private meeting between Percival and Mel like this is nice.

Now that I think about it. Donny not having met Meliodas is weird. Isn't he from Liones too or did I forget something about his backstory?

I would've liked to see Elizabeth & Tristan. I suppose it makes sense to see Meliodas acting like a normal citizen of the castle and a regular bar keeper than an actual King, it's just his personality, although the slow nature of the chapter was a little annoying.

Honestly, a part of me was like ''Why can't Lancelot just go see the Elizabeth (Queen) if Meliodas is not there?''

But then I remembered, that Elizabeth isn't her own character and is merely a milf now.

And of course, we can't skip an opportunity to give Meliodas more screen time, smh.

This build up is wasted on me. Maybe my perception of time is borked or something but...NNT ended a little under 2 years ago. Not that long ago in old people time. And between movies and little bits of content here and there, it just doesn't work for me...Mel hasn't really been gone that long. It's less like "Oh Mel, my old friend, it's good to see you after all these years." and more like "Dude, I see you standing on the corner every week, why are you making a show of this?"

I mean, I get it. Nakaba has stated that he's writing this for folks who, somehow, haven't read NNT and this may work for them more. Just doesn't work for me.

Dreyfus being reduced to old man jokes hurts my soul.

Pretty chill introduction of Meliodas in the sequel, exactly as I expected.

First meliodas appearance of NNT: he feeds someone who was unconscious in the boar hat terrible food.
First meliodas appearance of 4kota: he feeds someone terrible food and they become unconscious in the boar hat.

Some things never change.

Mel was mistaken as a kid in his first appearance in prequel too :emobirb

I hope we see how Ellie has aged. She isn't with Mel, so it seems she takes her duties as a queen more seriously, after being a chased out princess.

Usually, kings are busy as hell and they won't bother looking towards keeping a tavern in the midst of impending doom.

If Mel has all the free time in the world to be able to keep up with his duties as a king and tavern owner, why can't he bother to go out and search for the Knights themselves?

Does Nakaba fail at politics or what? Poor Arthur on the other hand...

I'm excited to see where Tristan is at. And poor Percy.

Even though I know the answer, I still want to ask why does Meliodas look younger than he did beforehand everytime there is a timeskip?

While Percival and Mel are chatting I wonder who Lancelot and co are going to meet. If they want to kill time I guess they aren't going to enter in the castle so no Elizabeth.

Could be Tristan. Based on what we know about him, like Lancelot, he’s not the biggest fan of Meliodas being a boob groping alcoholic. I’m also assuming that the two are close and Nakaba did say that this group would join up faster iirc so it’s possible we get knight number 3 sooner rather than later
